Chapter 101 - Gabriel Who Lifted a Rock Only to Drop It on Her Own Feet

"Jhin, why are you carrying Satania back?"

You haven't even princess-carried me, your best friend!

Gabriel desperately wanted to grab Jhin by the collar and yell this out loud. However, believing such an action was unbecoming of a best friend, she channeled all her dissatisfaction into resentment toward Satania instead.

"I went out to buy groceries and found her lying under your door. Did Vignette bomb your place again?"

"No, this idiot demon was standing at the door, nonstop ringing the bell while I was waging a holy war against the mosquitoes. I couldn't hold back for a moment..."

Jhin could picture the scene in his mind. Poor Satania had come over to play with Gabriel, only to get knocked unconscious and still hadn't woken up.

"No wonder you ran to my place. With your place being a total dump like that, there must be a ton of mosquitoes..."

"Hmph, tomorrow I'll wipe them all out with divine magic!"

Jhin's eyes lit up as he asked expectantly, "Straight-up exterminating their entire species?"

"As if. At most, I'll just exterminate the mosquitoes in my room." Gabriel pouted, giving Jhin an empty stare. "I think you'd make a great demon. You're always talking about genocide."

"Hard to say. If we could wipe out all the mosquitoes in the world, people might even build shrines for us." Ever since Jhin got Black Uncle's electric discharge ability, he'd never feared summer mosquitoes again. Come suck my blood? Enjoy a round of electrotherapy first!

Gabriel pinched her round chin, finding Jhin's suggestion surprisingly tempting. "Should I try to find a way to exterminate mosquitoes? It might earn me a huge merit, and Heaven could grant me permanent residency on Earth. Then I wouldn't have to worry about forced deportation."

"I think you should fix your front door first. Don't want thieves breaking in."

"Huh?!" Gabriel pointed at herself in disbelief. "Why do I have to fix it myself? Shouldn't this idiot demon be responsible?"

Jhin placed the unconscious Satania on his bed. "You think she looks like she can fix your door right now?"

Gabriel smacked her lips, poking Satania a few times in frustration before heading to the entryway. She realized she hadn't brought her own shoes, so she slipped into Jhin's oversized ones. As she left, she called out, "I'll put the repair fee on Satania's tab."

You guys always fix rooms with divine magic or spells anyway. Where's the repair fee coming from?

Jhin had seen Vignette use magic to restore Gabriel's room before. It looked like Gabriel was dead set on extorting Satania for money, eager to fill her completely empty wallet.

"Ugh... my head hurts..." Satania clutched her head, groaning as she sat up on the bed, her eyes full of confusion. "Huh? Where am I? Who am I?"

"Satania, you okay? Don't joke around like that."

"Um, who are you..." Satania's mind felt like mush; she couldn't recall a thing, and her thinking was sluggish, making it hard to focus. She grabbed her hair in bewilderment. "My name's Satania?"

Though Satania had lost her memories, her subconscious told her the person in front of her was trustworthy. Deep down, she felt some kind of impulse toward him, but she couldn't figure out where it came from or its purpose.

Jhin despaired, covering his face.

It's over. This kid was already kinda dumb, and now Gabriel smashed her into amnesia. Is she gonna get even dumber?

"Satania, I'm Jhin."

"Jhin... Yeah, Jhin!" Satania repeatedly savored the name inwardly. That impulse grew stronger with each repetition, and simultaneously, a blissful feeling like tasting the world's finest delicacy swelled in her heart.

What is this impulse and feeling?

Satania was miserably puzzled by it all. Just then, Gabriel returned from fixing her door. Seeing Satania awake, she immediately demanded money. "Hey, Satania, hand over the repair fee!"

Satania felt this person was important too, with her own impulse to compete or something. "Jhin, who's she?"

"Her? Your lifelong rival, Gabriel."

"So, a rival!" Satania suddenly understood. That explained her impulse toward Gabriel perfectly; it was only natural to want to compete with her rival.

"You two teaming up to mess with me?" Gabriel's suspicious gaze darted between Jhin and Satania. "Cut the boring crap and pay me!"

"Gabriel, she seems to have amnesia."

"Really?"

"Really."

Still skeptical, Gabriel tested Satania. "I'm your senpai. Say 'senpai' for me to hear."

Satania didn't doubt it for a second and shouted crisply, "Gabriel-senpai!"

Now Gabriel truly believed it. Too bad she hadn't remembered to record it on her phone. Making Satania repeat it might raise her guard, preventing her from teasing her further.

"Ahem, junior, even though you've lost your memory, don't worry. Senpai will take good care of you."

"Thanks, Gabriel-senpai!"

Gabriel had never found the usually annoying Satania so agreeable. Her urge to tease Satania even vanished for a brief second. A second later, Gabriel, brimming with a strong desire to prank, walked into the kitchen.

Soon, Gabriel emerged with a cup of bright red liquid. To prank Satania, she even wore her most elegant smile from her perfect days past and handed over the special chili water. "Junior, this is your favorite drink. Have some to perk up."

Jhin, watching the scene unfold from the side, did not stop Gabriel's actions. He knew Satania was completely unfazed by spice; in fact, she even liked spicy food. Gabriel's prank was destined to fail.

Satania tossed her head back and chugged the whole cup, wiping her mouth contentedly. "Senpai, this drink's great. Got more?"

Gabriel's eyes widened, wondering if she'd mistaken ketchup for chili sauce. "Hold on, I'll get you another."

Gabriel emerged from the kitchen once more, her eyes slightly red. She must have tested the potency of the special chili water herself.

"Here."

"Thanks, senpai!"

Satania once again drained the chili water Gabriel had confirmed was correct, making Gabriel doubt if this idiot demon's taste buds were damaged. How could she drink two cups of chili water and not feel the slightest spice?

Failing to prank Satania left Gabriel feeling defeated. She rolled her eyes and tried another ploy, pointing at Jhin. "Actually, he's your boyfriend!"

No wonder I feel an impulse when I see Jhin—he's my boyfriend!

Satania leaped up and tackled Jhin to the ground. Gabriel was dumbfounded on the spot.

Coach! She's charging with the ball!
