Chapter 1 - Chapter 1: Kawaki

'A strange ceiling…'

For a moment, Kawaki just stared blankly, then suddenly sat up in bed. He quickly looked around, taking in the unfamiliar surroundings.

It was a small bedroom—about forty square meters—with only a bed, a wooden desk, and a wardrobe.

"This is…"

"Ouch, my head hurts!"

As soon as he said that, a flood of memories rushed into his mind.

A moment later, Kawaki's face turned pale with shock.

Did he… transmigrate?

He forced himself to calm down. It took about five minutes for him to fully understand the situation.

He really had transmigrated—

into the Pokémon world.

He now occupied the body of a ten-year-old boy, also named Kawaki, whose parents had both passed away.

From the memories, Kawaki's father had been a forest ranger, while his mother—originally from the Officer Jenny family—had gone against tradition and become a Pokémon Breeder instead of a police officer.

Together, they had run a small Breeding House and inn on the road between Fallarbor Town and Meteor Falls in the Hoenn region. They offered rest to traveling Trainers and a place to care for their Pokémon.

Life had been peaceful—until three years ago. The family went on a trip by ship and got caught in a storm. Kawaki's parents died in the wreck, leaving only the seven-year-old boy behind.

After that, the Breeding House was abandoned. Kawaki and the Pokémon left by his parents ended up in an orphanage. They lived off the small inheritance until Kawaki turned ten. Then, missing his parents deeply, he returned to the rundown Breeding House with the same Pokémon that had stayed by his side all these years.

Overwhelmed by loneliness, the boy decided to end his own life, hoping to reunite with his parents in another world.

Kawaki: "…"

This poor kid…

Outside the window, the shadows of trees swayed in the breeze. The sound of buzzing bugs and chirping birds drifted softly into the room.

Kawaki took a deep breath and accepted the truth.

What else could he do?

At least he hadn't ended up in some brutal world like Warhammer or Resident Evil. The Pokémon world was much kinder—and as someone who had watched the anime and played the games, he already knew a lot about it.

He sat on the bed and began to think through his options.

Kawaki, age ten. Both parents gone. Left with only 20,000 alliance coins, an abandoned Breeding House, and a Pokémon his parents had owned.

Should he become a Trainer like Ash and travel the world?

No—that wasn't realistic. Being a Trainer might sound great, but without family support or money, even feeding Pokémon properly would be hard, let alone training them.

Then maybe start a small business? But 20,000 coins wouldn't last long.

From his memories, a bowl of miso soup cost 500 coins, and ramen cost 1,000. Even cooking for himself, that money wouldn't stretch far.

"Since I'm here, I'll make the best of it. First, I need to find a way to earn a living," Kawaki decided.

But before that, he should check on the Pokémon his parents left behind.

He got out of bed, opened the door, and walked downstairs.

His footsteps caught the attention of the Pokémon below. Its ears perked up, and it turned toward him.

When Kawaki reached halfway down, their eyes met.

It was a tall Pokémon—about two meters—with a fluffy pink head and tail, and a black body.

"Bewear… from Alola. Normal and Fighting type," Kawaki thought immediately.

He remembered—despite its cute looks, Bewear was actually known to be very dangerous, so their habitats were often restricted.

But this Bewear, holding a broom and cleaning the floor, didn't look dangerous at all.

"Gulu~!"

Seeing its young master, Bewear's eyes sparkled. It waved its soft pink arms, looking just like a big plush bear saying hello.

"Hey, Bewear!" Kawaki greeted with a warm smile.

Bewear froze, blinking.

"Gulu…"

Kawaki tensed up. Did Bewear somehow sense that he wasn't the same Kawaki?

But then, the Pokémon's expression brightened—it waved its arms excitedly and let out a cheerful cry.

"Gulu~!"

Its young master smiled!

Pokémon are sensitive to emotions. Bewear had noticed how lifeless its young master had been before—his eyes empty, his spirit broken, as if he'd given up on living.

It had been uneasy ever since. Kawaki had told it to clean while he prepared to "reopen the Breeding House," but it had sensed something was wrong.

Now, seeing him smile, Bewear's heart filled with joy.

The young master was smiling again!

For the first time in so long.

Pokémon were simple like that—pure, emotional, loyal.

Kawaki couldn't help smiling wider, and Bewear's happiness grew even more.

A small glowing sun suddenly appeared above Bewear's head, like a floating emoji radiating warmth and joy.

Kawaki stared in surprise.

Then, words appeared before his eyes:

Was this… his cheat ability?

Kawaki rubbed his eyes, but the glowing sun was still there.

This time, even more details about Bewear appeared in his vision:
