Sparing Imamura from confessing the truth—at least until they safely escaped the horde of undead aiming for Alice's family—their group proceeded with their not-so-planned escape.
—Bamm!—
The loud banging on the door from the undead swarming the hallway outside the room served as a cue for Nach to jump from the second-floor window of Maresato's house, across the two-meter gap swarming with undead down on the ground, toward the window of Imamura's room in the house next door.
Nach clung to the wall like the expert rock climber he was, his fingers grasping the small gap at the edge of the window, and the grip of his shoes against the wall barely held the weight of his large, muscular body.
He then slid open the window—which, according to Imamura, was always left unlocked by him—and pulled himself up to get inside Imamura's room.
Seeing that there were no undead lurking inside the room, just as he had seen before jumping over in the first place, Nach leaned outside the window, urging everyone to follow.
"I promise that I will catch you even if you don't reach the window, so you don't have to be scared," Nach said, telling Alice to jump toward him.
"I'm not scared, Oniisan," Alice said before bravely jumping, reaching Nach's arms as he grabbed her and took hold of her, gently pulling her in and putting her down.
After Alice, it was her mother's turn to jump. Mrs. Maresato easily made it over to Nach, clinging to him with her arms over his shoulder as Nach embraced her and quickly, carefully pulled her in.
"Thank you..." Mrs. Maresato said, awkwardly looking up at Nach, confused as to why he was still embracing her and flustered by the massive bulge she could feel pressing on her belly.
"Umm... You can let go of me now..." she added, cutting off Nach's perverted thoughts.
"Right... Sorry about that, Mrs. Maresato," Nach said as he let go of her.
Sorry as he was, Nach couldn't help but indulge himself in such forbidden fantasy. Not that he intended to do anything. He was a man of MILF culture but not the NTR ones. Imamura was far more degenerate than him, in his defense—or so Nach assumed.
"Hey, don't look at me like that," Imamura retorted as soon as he made the jump and saw Nach's judgmental, mocking look.
With everyone else across to the house next door, Mr. Maresato proceeded to jump over as the last one left behind. But as soon as he stepped on the edge of the window and leaned his head outside...
—ROOAAARRRR!!—
A loud roar resounded from all the undead upon seeing Mr. Maresato's face. At least, that's how Nach comprehended the sudden excitement of the undead. They didn't become aggressive—rather, more desperate to capture Alice's father. But that wasn't the only thing Nach noticed.
Among the horde of undead swarming the street in front of the Maresato residence, one particular undead woman stood out. Not only because she was still strikingly attractive despite being undead—with her bloodshot eyes tearing up with blackened blood and her mouth stained with blood—but because Nach could clearly see her staring at them.
It surely had vision like the undead high school girl that Nach fought at the store with Rei, yet that wasn't his concern—nor his fear that it might be a strong undead as well. What Nach couldn't get his mind off was the thought that the undead woman had a lustful expression on its face.
It wasn't a horny undead or something, right?
—BAMM!—
—CRASH!—
"Hurry up or we'll miss the chance to escape!" Nach shouted in panic, setting aside his concern about the undead woman upon seeing the cabinet blocking the doorway—and the door itself—collapsing behind Mr. Maresato, along with the sound of undead breaking through the doors and windows on the ground floor of Imamura's house.
"Mom!... Dad!..."
While Nach was pulling Mr. Maresato through the window after catching him when his jump fell short, Imamura rushed out of his room, calling for his parents.
"Imamura-kun..."
"Imamura-oniisan..."
Even Mrs. Maresato and Alice had already realized the grim truth as they watched Imamura desperately searching every corner of the rooms on the second floor, only to find no one else. Not even the slightest sound of someone answering his cries.
"They might still be downstairs..."
Refusing to accept the realization he was desperately trying to push out of his mind, Imamura rushed to the stairs with the hope that his parents might be hiding and safe inside the guest room on the ground floor. However, his path was blocked by the undead coming up the stairs.
"Get the fuc' out of my way!"
Imamura swung his cleaver, splitting open the head of the undead in front of him, kicking it down the stairs as he pulled his cleaver free and chopped the next one, again and again, pushing through—until his body suddenly froze in terror upon seeing the next undead coming up the stairs.
"AGRHHH!"
A hopeless, desperate cry escaped his mouth as his strength left his legs, causing him to stumble and slip on the stairs and drop his cleaver.
Imamura didn't attempt to stand up anymore, nor pick up his cleaver. After all, there was no way he could use it to chop the heads of his parents, who had now turned undead.
"Mom... Dad..."
He just sat there crying, closing his eyes as if wishing everything that happened were just a bad dream, and that he would wake up from his nightmare once it was all over...
"You're not dying until you tell me the truth, Imamura!" Nach shouted, jolting Imamura to open his eyes again as he grabbed him by the collar of his shirt and pulled him up before the undead could grab and bite him.
"Just leave me here, Sensei..."
Nach wasn't going to say some bullshit about knowing how Imamura felt. He was just an extra in the story, and he could only think that everything happening was just an exciting and arousing dream.
He didn't have a life in the story like everyone else, so he couldn't feel the weight of the chaos brought by the undead outbreak as heavily as they did. Still, even Nach knew that Imamura hadn't lost everyone important to him yet for him to give up and want to die.
"You still have Alice and her mother, right?" Nach said as he dragged Imamura to the room where Alice's family was waiting, after kicking Imamura's undead parents down the stairs.
"So at least die protecting them like a real man would do."
