Standing before the council table, I forced steel into my voice despite the tremor threatening to break through. "As Luna of my Pack, I demand your assurance that my position remains intact. If you cannot provide that guarantee, then I require my Pack to be returned to me immediately. The law is crystal clear on this matter. This council exists to uphold those very laws." My words came out barely above a whisper, but they carried the weight of generations. "In exchange, I will tolerate Dominic's affair and ensure no further diplomatic incidents occur between our Pack and others."
The bitter truth settled in my chest like a stone. Charles had proven unreliable. My survival depended on enduring Dominic's cruelty until I could rally my Pack members and secure their loyalty once more. When that day came, I would reclaim my birthright through whatever means necessary.
