Burbank Villa.
It was around 8 p.m. Zane and his girlfriend, Adriana Lima, were cuddling on the sofa, watching TV. They had just finished a nice candlelit dinner.
"My dear," Adriana said, looking a little sad, "I'm leaving for Europe tomorrow. You have to promise to call me every day."
Zane kissed her forehead and smiled warmly. "Don't worry. No matter how busy I am, I will always call you. You know me."
"Hmm," Adriana nodded.
Zane wasn't perfect. He was a little cheap sometimes. But overall, he was a decent guy who didn't have any really bad habits.
"My dear," Zane said gently, "I'm just saying... if you wanted to, you could quit modeling. You know I have enough money for us to live a very comfortable life."
Zane and Adriana had been together for a long time. At first, he liked her because she was beautiful and famous. But now? He really loved her.
He didn't like her being a model. The modeling world was full of chaos and scandals, even worse than Hollywood! He wanted to protect her.
Adriana shook her head. "Darling, you know walking the runway is my dream. It's my job. I want to walk beside you, not behind you."
"You can be in the spotlight right here in Hollywood!" Zane said confidently. "You don't need to be a model. I can make you a movie star."
He meant it. He had the power to make anyone famous.
Zane had a secret reason for hating modeling. He knew the future.
He knew about Victoria's Secret. Right now, it was a huge, famous brand worth billions. Every model dreamed of being a Victoria's Secret Angel.
But Zane knew that in the future, the company would fall apart. It would close stores, lose money, and face terrible scandals about how its bosses treated the models. By 2020, it would be almost worthless.
Zane didn't want Adriana to be part of that mess.
"Alright, my dear," Adriana said, hugging him tight. "Don't worry. No matter how crazy the modeling world is, I'm not afraid. I have you to back me up."
Zane smiled. That was true.

Early in the morning, Zane drove Adriana to the airport.
"Boss," his bodyguard Ray asked, "where to now? Home or the office?"
Zane shook his head. "Neither. I have a meeting."
"Oh?" Ray teased. "With Ms. Chastain?"
Zane's face turned red. Damn it! His bodyguard knew everything!
"Nonsense!" Zane laughed. "The person I'm meeting is a man! An older gentleman!"

At a Café...
Around 10 a.m., Zane was chatting with a man in his early thirties named Jeff Weiner.
In the 1990s, no one knew who Jeff was. But Zane knew that in the future, Jeff would become a legendary CEO. He would take a small company called LinkedIn and turn it into a giant worth $26 billion!
"Mr. Weiner," Zane said seriously, "I sincerely invite you to be the CEO of my new company, LinkedIn."
"I need to think about it, Mr. Blackwood," Jeff hesitated.
Zane nodded. He knew how to close a deal.
"As long as you are the CEO," Zane promised, "your starting salary will be $300,000 a year. And no matter what, your salary will go up by 20% every year for the next 5 years."
Jeff's eyes widened.
"And," Zane added with a smile, "after five years, if you stay, I will give you shares of the company."
High salary! Raises! Stock options!
Jeff couldn't say no. It was too good to resist.
"I accept!" Jeff said.
Three days later, LinkedIn was officially born in Silicon Valley. Zane gave the new company $5 million to get started.
"What is money?" Zane thought like a true tycoon. "This is just the start. Once the website is built, I'll give them another $10 million!"
Zane was smart. He knew LinkedIn wasn't hard to build. The real trick was getting lots of people to use it. As long as he had enough users, making money would be easy.
That's why he chose LinkedIn as his first step into the internet world.
