I knew Webster well enough by now.
After smacking him and throwing those cutting words in his face, he wouldn't dare try any underhanded moves behind my back again.
I figured it was time to dig through those job listings I'd been eyeing and get back to hunting for work.
When Todd heard my plan, he had other ideas. "Sallie, why burn yourself out with those soul-crushing, dead-end jobs? Stay home and focus on your art instead."
Todd grabbed my phone and smoothly pulled up TikTok. "Check this out. You've built up a decent following, and someone just hit you up with a commission. Pretty sweet deal too. You interested?"
I was genuinely shocked. Todd had been handling my TikTok account, but I never thought it would blow up this fast.
He'd already hammered out all the details with the client who'd sent the request. All I had to do was say yes.
The pay was solid and the demands reasonable. Given my current mess of a situation, I really had no grounds to turn it down.
