Sallie's POV
Alan's face twisted with pain, practically screaming, "No matter how much pressure you put on me, my hands are tied."
I pressed my lips into a thin line and locked my gaze on Alan, trying to read whether he was being honest.
Everly claimed Mandy had jumped to her death, while Alan insisted she'd simply transferred schools. I wondered if they were even discussing the same Mandy.
After a long pause, I finally broke the silence. "Why did Mandy transfer schools?" I kept my real questions buried.
Since Alan had seen the contents of that file but still refused to tell the truth, something far more significant than the file itself was keeping him silent.
Alan, assuming I believed his story, let out a quiet sigh of relief. "If a student decides to transfer, how would I know their reasons?
"We see countless students come and go each year. Despite being the principal, I can't possibly track every detail about each one."
