Kevin hadn't forgotten his vow to defend Jill. But I was rarely at home, and with all the turmoil at Noah Group following Johan's incident, he'd been swamped—so everything kept getting delayed.
Now that he finally had some free time, he didn't need to suppress his rage anymore. He tracked down my location and headed straight there.
But he never anticipated discovering that I was secretly cohabiting with Todd behind the family's back—and in such a decrepit, worn-down apartment.

Kevin's face grew stormy, his typical composure nearly consumed by disappointment and fury. When he spotted Sallie emerging from the grocery store with Todd, laughing and talking, her arms laden with shopping bags, his rage exploded.
Kevin leaped from his vehicle recklessly, almost causing the car behind him to crash into his door.
He dismissed the furious yells from the other driver, marched over, seized Sallie by the wrist, and barked, "You're coming home with me."
