Sallie's POV
Todd's expression shifted, his smile vanishing as coldness settled over his features. The change was sharp, guarded.
The transformation seemed to wound Jill, her face crumpling into a practiced look of hurt. "Sallie has the wrong impression of me, so I get why you don't trust me, but it's not what she claims. I—"
"Could you just stop talking?" Todd cut her off, irritation bleeding through his voice.
"We barely know each other. Don't speak to me like we're close."
Jill went rigid, embarrassment flashing across her face.
She thought, 'Sallie isn't even here. I already played my cards. Why the hell is he still treating me like a stranger?'
Jill clenched her jaw, swallowing her fury while forcing tears to well up. "I don't know what Sallie said about me, but I—"
"If you came here to stir up drama, you're wasting your breath. I'm not one of those morons from the Noah family," Todd snapped, cutting her off again.
