"They tried to cover it up, but people still talk," Everly said, her expression deadly serious. Fire blazed in her eyes. "Some people are saying Mandy killed herself because she was being bullied."
People were whispering that the bully was Salome.
But Everly wasn't certain. That's why she'd been digging around in secret, though she hadn't turned up anything concrete yet.
My expression hardened as Mandy's final words on the rooftop crashed back into my mind. She'd said, "Salome destroyed me. She ruined my life."
My chest constricted until I could barely draw breath. "If Salome really pushed Mandy to suicide, someone would've stepped forward. There's no way an entire school could turn a blind eye to that level of bullying."
I'd been in the same grade as both Mandy and Salome, but growing up as the Noahs' spoiled princess had made me too arrogant to blend in. That's probably why I never caught wind of any bullying.
