Chapter 3 - •3 - Meeting the Characters

Looking back, yeah. Bunch of people came crying as they heard the news. It was total chaos...

..I felt like I was going dizzy.

Did I really emerged from the novel?..

WAS THIS A DREAM?!

Ugh, my mind's drained from all that thinking..!!

What should I do? I don't even have a plan on how to change things yet! Furthermore, this child didn't even made any appearance in the novel !!

Three days past by,

During those three days, I embarked on a self-guided exploration of the manor, immersing myself in the opulent surroundings and piecing together fragments of my family's history.

It was a disconcerting revelation to grasp that this fragile vessel had been suspended in a comatose state for three long years, an enigma that defied comprehension.

A profound sense of unfamiliarity washed over me as I contemplated the nuances of this child's character, a blank canvas upon which I was now tasked with painting a convincing portrayal.

I've never even known this child's character before. She wasn't even mentioned in the novel as well. How am I supposed to act?

I mused, my thoughts swirling like eddies in a stream as I ambled through the meticulously manicured gardens, the fragrant blooms a symphony of color and scent.

As I meandered towards the grand entrance, my path converged with that of my siblings, who stood poised at the gate, flanked by a retinue of ten individuals.

Among them, I recognized the eight ardent admirers and the two steadfast supporting characters, the loyal sentinels who orbited the protagonists, Djamian and Chasandra.

A chilling premonition gripped my heart as I recalled the tragic fate that awaited these two devoted souls, their lives mercilessly extinguished by the ruthless machinations of a scorned admirer, their valiant attempt to liberate the twins culminating in a gruesome demise.

A resolute determination surged through my veins, an unwavering resolve to rewrite the narrative, to subvert the cruel hand of destiny that had condemned these innocent bystanders to oblivion.

Not on my watch,

I vehemently declared within the confines of my mind.

I refuse to allow this tragic tale to unfold as it was once written.

With a radiant smile plastered across my face, I sprinted towards my siblings, channeling the effervescent energy of a carefree child.

"Lian, Nick!" I chirped, my voice brimming with youthful exuberance, carefully maintaining the facade of a tender seven-year-old.

"Oh! Nhat, please refrain from running about, dear. You might stumble and hurt yourself," Nillianhie gently chided, her voice laced with maternal concern, before enveloping me in a warm embrace.

(The other day I told them I wanted to be called by 'Nhat' and I'd like to call them 'Lian' and 'Nick'.)

"Sorry," I replied, my tone laced with feigned contrition.

"I was just curious, though. Who are they? " I inquired, gesturing towards the assembled admirers with an innocent smile.

"Ah, these are our friends. This is—" Nicholas began to introduce, but my attention was quickly diverted by a maelstrom of thoughts that threatened to consume me.

Ugh, the details elude me!

When does the story truly begin?

What age are they? Which phase of their lives marks the turning point?

Ughhh, think!

I must recall the precise moment when the novel's plot is set into motion!

I berated myself internally, my mind racing against the clock as I desperately sought to retrieve the elusive information.

Is it when they reach the age of seventeen? No, perhaps it's sixteen? Ugh!

"Nhat? Are you alright, dear sister?" Lian whispered in my ear, her voice laced with concern as she observed my increasingly distressed demeanor. From her perspective, I appeared to be teetering on the brink of a mental breakdown.

"Hm?- Oh, yes! .. Just thinking What's so good about having friends when one is already blessed with an adorable little sister like myself!" I declared, adopting a deliberately cocky and smug posture, puffing out my chest with feigned pride.

I must endure this charade, I reminded myself. I need to convincingly portray a precocious seven-year-old, no matter how absurd it may seem.

A moment of stunned silence descended upon the group as everyone stared at me in disbelief, their expressions a mixture of amusement and bewilderment.

.......

Then, a ripple of chuckles spread through the crowd, culminating in my siblings' gentle laughter, their attempts to suppress their mirth evident in their strained smiles.

Sure, whatever, I thought wryly. Let them have their fun.

"Pfft- Indeed, we are fortunate to have our cute little sister. What more could we possibly desire?" My brother chimed in, playing along with my charade as he playfully patted my shoulder.

It was a refreshing experience to witness the unadulterated joy that emanated from these individuals, their faces illuminated by the simplest of pleasures.

I realized with a pang of longing that I had never possessed the ability to evoke such genuine happiness in others.

"How about we retire to the drawing room?" Nillianhie suggested, her voice as radiant as a beam of sunshine piercing through the clouds.

"I shall also instruct the maids to prepare a selection of delectable snacks for us to enjoy while we engage in conversation!" she added, her smile unwavering, a beacon of warmth and affection.

Oh dear sister,

I vowed silently,

I shall never allow that radiant smile to fade from your face. You are a wellspring of pure, unadulterated joy, a force of nature that must be protected at all costs.

In the drawing room, the admirers seated themselves across from us siblings, their eyes fixated on our interactions with a mixture of envy and resentment, their gazes following our every move as they nibbled on the refreshments.

That's right! Be consumed by your jealousy, you insignificant peasants, I gloated inwardly, reveling in their discomfiture as the twins lavished attention upon me, showering me with my favorite desserts, their laughter and smiles filling the room with an infectious energy.

Ain't no way I'm letting such cowardly, opportunistic punks hit on the twins.

Nah uh!
