End of April. The Royal Autumn Ball from a year ago.
~~~~~~~
Eleanora Alphin, the daughter of the Duke of Alphin, and the second child after her brother and heir of the family, Elrick Alphin. She was considerated One of The biggest beauties of the kingdom of Tàlet... With a Dark pinkish hair and two eyes that shine like gold, white skin smooth as silk... She had everything to be the Star of every dance.
The ones Who talked with her whould find a whoman Who wasn't scared of saying what she felt. That was what maked her popular everywhere... But Well... Even the popular people needs a moment for themselves from time to time.
Eleanora was leaving the Great Hall where the party was being held. She had to be honest, the ball was really boring that year. She only assisted for insistance of her father... That old man... He was really desperate trying to make her choose a man of his liking, Eleanora knew that without the new law stablished by the Queen, her father whould had forced her into a marriage with One of his Friends - Who could have been old enough to be her father or even her grandfather- a long time ago. She was happy of living on the Age of The New Crown for that...
But well, the ball was still as boring as watching the grass grow at her eyes... So she went to the gardens hoping that at least the real grass were more interesting to see.
The Night only had the light of the moon and the fireflies with some light poles that used the power of magical stones to shine.
"Oh my... The palace spared no expense with the renovations... It's clear that magic stones are the future..." Eleanora said for herself, strolling through the garden and observing the changes. Before, it was a place only visible during the day. However, thanks to the light from the magic stones, the place acquired a new nighttime beauty.
The young girl found a stone bench to sit on near a small artificial lake where colorful fish could be seen, another recent addition to the garden.
- "If only father weren't as stubborn as a horse... I'm sure we could do Night dances in a garden a Beautifull as this..." - She thought.
Meanwhile, still at the ball... was a young man... Long, moon-white hair and pale skin adorned with a single mole on his left cheek, which made his deep blue eyes, worthy of a sapphire, stand out like gems. The son of Viscount Mello, Samuel Gray Mello.
The young man, commonly known for his cold like appearence and his short answearing in conversations... Was sneezing like no One has ever seen before...
- "ATCHOOO!"- The young man was suffering for his allergies to the marigold flowers used in the decorations around the Great Hall of the dance.
Commically, his sneezes were almost at the rythim of the music. The guy with white hair could hear between his allergic reactions the sound of giggles and murmurs from the other noble guests at his situation.
- "Great, just what I needed, being the clown of The ball" - Thought the son of The Viscount. Like if the wispers and malicious comentaries about his prostetic leg weren't enough, now everybody Will be gosshiping about his "Musical sneezes" at the ball. -"Ugh... Why did I even came here?"- Said the white haired before going to the gardens in search for fresh air.
Once the Viscount's son had finally escaped the oppressive atmosphere of the ball, he set out to explore the gardens. Each time he stepped with his prosthetic leg, the sound of it hitting the stone in the ground could be heard. It was a birth defect; he couldn't change the fate that befell him, so the sound keep going as he murmurated for himself.
Returning to our dark-haired girl, who was still sitting on that stone bench, she couldn't help but be intrigued by the avian melody that had begun to be heard. So she did the most logical thing: she followed the sound to its source.
That was the moment when She Saw him...
Eleanora couldn't believe her eyes... She had heard rumours about the family of the Viscount Mello, a family of extravagant mages Who talked with animals like if they were humans...
A family where the previous Viscount had lost vast sums of money gambling, which led his daughter to marry a commoner who began to grow wealthy, and with whom she later had a son who needed a prosthesis to be able to walk...
It was the kind of family her father, obsessed with noble blood, would say degrading and derogatory things about... But for Eleanora... It was the first time she had seen a magician in action so close up... And to her, that was a beauty worthy of a prince from a fairy tale.
In the other hand, Samuel, in the moment he Saw the Beautifull woman wearing a stunning blue dress in front of him... He almost fell over his backwards in fright because he definitely didn't expect to have an audience for his little concert.
- "W-what are You doing here!?" - He asked regaining balance.
- "You are talking like if I were invading your house... Don't tell me... You are a member of the Royal Family?" - She answered mischievously while going closer to that guy.
- "Are You making fun of me?" - He asked getting blushed
- "Yeah, sorry, the custom... Hey... Is truth what do they Say about the Magic?" - Asked Eleanora.
- "What do they Say?"
- "What do You want to tell me?"
- "Huh?"
- " ... I want to talk with You. I only know one mage, and she isn't even allowed to do magic yet. But, I see that or you are allowed, or You don't care about getting in trouble... Anyway, I want to know more about You. You are the son of The Viscount Mello, aren't You?"
- "... Aren't You The daughter of the Duke Alphin?"
- "What if I am?" - Eleanora asked, raising an eyebrow to Samuel.
- "... Your father insults my mother and father without any shame. How do I know you're not looking for the same thing?" - He answered while trying to avoid eye contact and his cheeks were getting pink for the closeness.
- "I'm not. Trust me. All My friends Say that I'm an horrible liar." - She Said, with a smile and honesty in her face.
Samuel stared at her. He'd grown accustomed to avoiding people... He'd grown accustomed to being treated like a weirdo... And now, this golden-eyed woman was looking at him with a smile, and he didn't see a trace of mockery or meanness. So... He did something that he never Saw himself doing with anyone... At least that Night.
- "... Alright, Lady Alphin..." said the white-haired man, taking her hand, covered with a black opera glove, and kissing it like a gentleman.- "...Let's talk..."
And with that... They expend the whole Night in the gardens, talking for the rest of The ball... They talked about everything, their families, Dreams, hopes... Likes and dislikes... Good things... Bad things... The ones they liked and the ones they don't...
Time flew by for both of them... Just like at the next party they met... And the one after that... And the next One after that... And the one after that... You get it.
Early September. Queen Melinoa's birthday banquet.
Lyra Grimfall, the little sister of the Archduke
Azazel Grimfall. She was well known for her shy and submissive nature; for her brother, commonly known as "The Hunt Dog of The Royal family"; and for her absolutly non-common looks, her skin was of The colour of The caramel, while her hair shined like the silver and her eyes, or at least the left one, that wasn't covered with an eye patch, had a strong shade of purple that was impossible, for good or for bad, to ignore.
That made her a person with very few friends. And at that moment, one of those few friends, whom she could count on the fingers of one hand, was God knows where.
- "C'mon... El ... Where are You?"- Lyra wondered for herself. She keep looking around the gardens, trying luck to see if any of The Dark pinkish hair of her friend was somewhere to be seen.
The dark-skinned girl was about to abandon her investigation... But then, she heard something... Something like... laughter. Hoping to find her friend Eleanora, the silver-haired girl decided to venture a little deeper into the palace gardens to see if it was the laughter she was looking for.
So Lyra followed the sound to an area with a small artificial lake filled with colorful fish... where, on a stone bench, she saw her best friend, Eleanora Alphin, kissing Samuel Gray Mello, the son of her father's rival family. And we're not talking about a peck; we're talking about a kiss that definitely involved tongue, teeth, and saliva.
That Made the one-eyed girl stay in shock. Completly silent. She knew her friend was a girl ahead to her time... But still... God, She didn't wanted to find her in a kiss that was at only one step to go to the bigger intimancy on her eyes. So Lyra just leave the place inmidiatly for the shame. But the Pink haired girl, Who had to broke the kiss to get air, Saw her go.
The following morning, Duke Alphin's daughter visited Grimfall House, hoping to speak with her friend, Lyra.
When both ladies were face to face, there was a silencie... Both knew that each one saw the other... Both knew about what were they going to talk about.
- "Lyra... W-what you saw last night... Wasn't what it looked like..." - Said Eleanora crearly nerveous.
- "It looks like You are having a relationship with the member of One of The families your father hates for existing... And you are trying to lie to me..."
- "Fine, IT IS what it looks like... But please don't tell to anyone!! I already have a bad relationship with my father; if he finds out, he'll definitely send me to a convent, or abroad, or anywhere to keep me away while he sends a hitman after Samuel's head!!" - Said the lady with golden eyes while taking the both hands of her Best friend.
- "... El..." - Lyra smiled softly, trying to calm her friend Who she never Saw that desperate. - "Your father... Will suspect if he notices how You apparently dissapear in every ball where You and Lord Mello concord..."
- "... I know... But I don't have another way to talk to him... Father checks all the mail that comes in and goes out of the house... He would find out immediately." - Answered Eleanora while looking down.
- "... Well... He maybe checks yours but not mine." - Say Lyra while She was making a plan.
- "Huh?" - Both members of the couple said in unison.
- "... I can receive any letters that Lord Samuel wishes to send to you... And then pass them on to you privately and keep them in my home... I can also write the replies on your behalf... The Duke Alphin doesn't care about My correspondency. I can be... Your... How it's Said?..." - Answered Lyra while her head was creating a plan.
- "Messenger Dove? Whould You really do that?" -Eleanora asked while her eyes fulled of hope.
- "Well... I'm starting magic school next year... Lord Mello is a third-year student there, and I understand he'll also be doing his internship at the academy. I can visit him anytime you like, under any pretext."
- "Lyra..." - Eleanora was crying of happiness, finally somebody to share her feelings with, someone to talk about how happy Samuel Made her without fear of being judged or exposed... Unable of contain herself She huged Lyra as strong as She could.- "Lyra, you are an angel fallen from heaven!"
And with that, our protagonist started this travesy as the Menssager of a Forbidden Love...
