Time passed in a blink.
After four months of hard work, when Lucian placed his hands on Grace's face again, the Gift of the Breeder interface changed.
[Pregnant]
Seeing the words, Lucian smiled with surprise.
Finally, she was pregnant!
It wasn't for nothing that he had worked so hard every day, giving Grace both physical and emotional pleasure.
Hard work always pays off.
As for whether the child would be a boy or a girl, Lucian didn't really care. It was his child either way. He just hoped this time the child would have strong abilities, so he could get even better feedback.
"Mr. Lucian, are you okay?"
Grace asked, looking at Lucian who was lost in thought. Her body, however, was slightly trembling.
It was a natural reaction. Over the past four months, she had accepted Lucian's love countless times. That high frequency had taken a toll on her.
After all, Lucian's body was too strong, and his abilities in some areas were especially powerful.
Thinking about this, Grace shook her head lightly, trying to push away the pleasant images in her mind. Then she looked back at Lucian with curiosity.
"I've told you, just call me Lucian."
Four months of sex had made Lucian and Grace very familiar with each other. Grace was a very typical gentle woman, who followed Lucian in everything and never complained.
The only thing was, she always called him "Mr. Lucian," even during sex. It had never changed.
In bed, that name had a little bit of charm, but during the day, hearing it made Lucian feel a little strange.
Grace, who was usually obedient, shook her head.
"You are a noble knight. I'm just an ordinary person. Calling you by your name directly would be too rude. If people found out, they might say you're not strict with your subordinates. That would be bad."
Looking at the gentle and lovely girl in his arms, Lucian touched her face and said, "From today on, don't do heavy work. Let the servants do everything. You should also take more rest yourself. Do you understand?"
Lucian was a knight.
He lived in a world called "Aerilane." On this continent, magic actually existed. People who could control magic were called Mages. People who mastered the Knight's Soul and trained their own energy were called Knights.
Besides Knights and Mages, there were other professions in this world, like the Druids, who controlled natural energy and got along well with animals, the Rogues, who controlled shadow energy and hid in the dark, the Warriors, who used their bloodline power and trained in war skills, and so on.
All of these were called Supers.
To become a Supers, it's not just about hard work. The most important thing is talent. A person's talent is decided from the moment they are born. What kind of person they will become, and how high they can go, is all already decided.
Take Lucian for example. Even if his Knight's Soul wasn't broken, with his talent, he could only reach the 4th stage. That was his limit, and no amount of effort could change that.
Supers have 9 stages. The 4th stage isn't very high, but not very low either. But in this small border city called Frostspire City, not even a 4th stage Supers were common. Even a 1st stage Knight was called a "Lord Knight."
Lucian was a 3rd stage Knight. That level was unheard of in the whole city, and of course, it earned him a lot of respect. He was already married to the mayor's daughter, and he had saved up a lot of money. Buying a big estate in Frostspire City wasn't a big deal at all.
He also had a lot of servants to take care of the estate. In an age where servants were treated like dirt, the servants in the Becker Estate were treated surprisingly well. In fact, many commoners were trying hard to get into it.
These servants had already been prepared to take care of Grace once she was pregnant.
"What?" Grace was a little confused at first. "Mr. Lucian, I don't do much work every day. I can take care of it. And I can't just sit around all day."
Lucian cut her off. "Things are different now."
As she listened to Lucian, Grace was shocked for a moment, then looked at her stomach in disbelief. "Mr. Lucian, are you saying I'm pregnant?"
Lucian nodded. "That's why you can't move around anymore."
A look of joy appeared on Grace's face. She was only eighteen, but the news of her pregnancy still made her feel excited. The thought of becoming a mother sent a shiver through her.
"I should eat more then," Grace said, touching her stomach as if she could hear the little life inside. "My mother said that eating magic food while pregnant might help us have a child with Mage talent."
"Still, since it's Mr. Lucian's child, it must have amazing talent, right?"
Lucian just smiled and said nothing.
He was only a 4th stage talent. The highest he could ever reach was 4th stage. If their child could inherit his talent, he would already be happy. As for the idea that eating magic food could make a child have Mage talent, that was just nonsense.
Mages were extremely rare Supers. If that were true, there wouldn't be so few Mages in the world.
Of course, Lucian wouldn't be so tactless as to argue with his wife. Instead, he wrapped his arms around Grace, sharing in the joy of her pregnancy. No matter how strong or weak the child's talent was, Lucian would still get some kind of feedback. If the quality wasn't enough, then quantity could make up for it.
After having five children, the next Divine Gift would unlock. The more children his wife had, the stronger Lucian would become. It really was a true blessing of having many children.
But still, the child was Lucian's own blood, not just a tool to increase his power. Plus, the Blood Link allowed him to borrow strength from them, so raising the child properly was a very important matter.
Lucian was a knight. If Grace's child was also a knight, that would be fine. But if the child had a Rogue talent, or something else, Lucian wouldn't know how to raise them. He needed to think carefully. He wasn't indifferent to his children. No matter their talent, he wanted them to have a better future.
So, with Grace in his arms, Lucian was lost in deep thought.
Time passed slowly. Grace's belly grew bigger and bigger. The child inside was very active, kicking her from time to time, making her laugh happily. Though Grace was only eighteen, her face already showed the glow of motherhood.
Lucian saw this and smiled slightly. It was almost time for the ten months of pregnancy to be over. Grace's due date was near.
The power of The Gift of Birth was truly amazing. Throughout the long ten months, Grace's body had no problems, and she didn't show any of the usual pregnancy symptoms. If it weren't for her big belly, no one would have known she was pregnant.
This put Lucian at ease. The Aerilane continent had super-powered professions, but its civilization was still at a medieval level-dirty, messy, and unsanitary. Pregnant women gave birth by just relying on their own bodies. Even if Lucian knew some hygiene knowledge, he wasn't a doctor. If it weren't for The Gift of Birth, Grace might have had serious problems during childbirth.
Now, with The Gift of Birth, he didn't have to worry about that anymore.
"Mr. Lucian, are you here?"
In the garden, Grace saw Lucian's figure and slowly walked toward him. "The baby has been kicking me a lot lately. Maybe it wants to meet us, the parents?"
She said this with a happy expression on her face, but then she quickly turned her head to look at Lucian, her expression turning tense.
"Mr. Lucian, maybe you should marry another wife?"
