As soon as I clock out I head to the back of the fairgrounds and see all the trailers and campers set up. I walk over and a lot of the workers are already drinking, blasting music and even set up a bonfire in the middle of everything, Zeke then comes up to me
"Ayyye what's up Jay?"
"What's up Zeke"
"I heard what happened today, man what a way to start the season"
"You're telling me"
"Come sit down, you want a beer?"
"Ehhh I don't really drink beer and I'm not twenty one yet"
"Nobody is going to say anything"
"You sure?"
"Naw, you'll be good"
"Hmmm you got Hennessy?"
"Oh you drink that?"
"Yeah… why?"
"I don't think we got that, but we got jack daniels"
"That's cool"
"Jack and coke?"
"I can work with that"
Zeke then runs to go make the drink as I sit in one of the chairs around the bonfire. I look around and everyone is drinking and having a good time, music could be different it's pretty much the same music that's playing during the event, hearing "Dig through the ditches and burn through the witches" once again is getting to me now, no disrespect to rob zombie but holy fuck. A minute or so later Zeke returns with a cup and hands it to me.
"Here you go"
"Thanks man"
"No problem, man tonight was insane"
"I bet, everything was cool except for that dick head"
"Oh yeah, I heard you dropped his ass pretty quick"
"Yeah I guess you can say that, he put his finger in my chest and I took that as a threat"
"Sheeesh man, hopefully that's the first and only time that happens"
"I wouldn't count on it, there's always gonna be some drunk asshole out there ready to ruin the fun"
"Yeah well knock on wood that it doesn't happen again"
Zeke raises his cup and i raise mine as we both take a drink. Then Mr. Hill emerges and gets everyone's attention as the music is turned down
"Alright everyone listen up! We had a great opening night, everyone did an awesome fucking job!"
Everyone cheers and goes crazy until Hill puts a hand up.
"I also want to recognize our newcomer, Jay get over here!"
I look around and awkwardly head over to where he's standing on the middle of everyone
"This kid on night one protected one of our best workers in Cherry, he stopped a drunk asshole from harassing her and even took his ass down. Everyone raise your glasses"
Everyone puts up their drinks and I'm still standing there with a dumb look on my face
"Welcome to the family Jay!"
Everyone starts cheering and downing their drinks, pushing and patting me on the back, it's cool to be recognized but damn a lot of these guys putting their whole damn strength into these hits. After making my way out of the crowd, I stand to the side with my drink when I hear a soft, seductive voice come from the side of me
"Hey Mr security guard"
I turn around and it's Cherry, still in her clown make up but has on some joggers, a hoodie and has her hair tied up in a messy bun.
"Oh uhh hey cherry"
"Thank you for saving me earlier"
I can tell she's still in character, I guess zeke was telling the truth.
"It's no big deal. Umm you know you can be yourself with me right"
"Whatever do you mean mr security"
"It's Jay…."
"Ok Mr Jay"
"You don't have to call me Mr everytime"
"Would you prefer if I call you daddy?"
My eyes go wide and I can feel my face getting hot and red. Cherry laughs and rubs my arm
"Awww someone's blushing, how cute"
"Ummm I'm not. Anyways what's your real name?"
"Cherry is my real name babes"
"Riiiight, ok then 'Cherry' how old are you?"
"Twenty-six, but I get better with age"
"Oh you're six years older than me"
"Awww you're a baby"
"Not even"
"Awww is the little baby getting mad?"
"This little baby saved you earlier"
"Did you? Or did i let you just boost your ego by thinking you needed to save little ol me"
"You definitely needed my help"
"Oh darling, if I wanted to I could've slit that nasty man's throat but like I said just giving you a confidence boost. Seeing how you were practically eye fucking me earlier today"
"Wait…. What?!?"
"I caught you staring, you ain't as slick as you think you are babe. So did you like what you saw?"
Cherry gives a seductive smile and does a twirl
"Ummm I was just checking out your outfit"
"I bet you were thinking of ripping it off me weren't you. You dirty little perv"
"No!"
"Hmm well that's too bad, it would've turned me on. See ya later Jay, don't think about me too much"
Cherry winks at me then heads back to her camper, I just check her out as she walks away and all I can say to myself is
"I don't know if this is her character or not"
"HEY!!!"
I hear Zeke yell out from behind me and I jump a little
"Jesus what the fuck?!?"
"Oh damn I'm sorry, but I seen you talking to Cherry"
He raises his eyebrows at me
"It wasn't like that, she was just thanking me for earlier"
"Damn that's all?"
"Yeah what did you think she was saying?"
"I don't know something crazy or at least something more interesting"
"A simple thank you, that was it"
"That's lame"
"Sorry to disappoint you, anyways I need to get back to campus, pack some clothes for tomorrow night and then get some sleep"
"Alright see ya Jay"
"See you"
I then make the drive back to campus, it's not that long of a drive back since it's the middle of the night but on the way back all I can think about is Cherry. Was she really flirting with me or was that just her character?
