Chapter 282 - Tables Turn

The plan was quickly put into action. Kirk, Osiris, and Maine swiftly confirmed the operational details.

Osiris' mechanical tentacles deployed several inconspicuous small devices around young Spock. They emitted a low hum, generating a localized, precise energy interference field.

"A weakened application of a stasis field," Osiris explained to Kirk, his crimson optical lens flickering slightly. "It won't affect his physiological state, but it can effectively hinder conventional material transport lock-on.

The Klingons' scans will show strong energy turbulence in the target area, making safe transport impossible.

If they want to get the 'Genesis Torpedo,' they'll have to send people down to retrieve it."

Kirk nodded, took a deep breath, and reconnected the communication channel with klingon Commander K'Rotar.

His voice carried a deliberately suppressed anger and a hint of unwilling compromise: "Commander K'Rotar, we agree to your terms. The 'Genesis Torpedo'… is right here.

But it is extremely unstable, and its internal energy structure is fragile. Forcing a transport could lead to unpredictable energy release, or even an premature detonation.

You must send people down to retrieve it personally."

To increase credibility, he added, with a warning tone: "Furthermore, this thing has resonated with the planet's energy field, making the surrounding space extremely unstable. Transporting is suicide. If you want it, fly down and get it yourselves!"

A moment of silence followed on the other end of the communication, with only the heavy breathing of Klingons and background static audible. Clearly, K'Rotar was assessing the authenticity of this demand. Kirk's heart rate accelerated slightly, but he forced himself to remain calm.

Finally, K'Rotar's hoarse voice sounded again, tinged with greed and caution: "Very well, Kirk. You're being sensible. My shuttle will land in five minutes. Don't play any tricks, or your crew will be the first to pay the price."

"Landing coordinates have been sent. We'll be waiting." Kirk cut off the communication and looked at Osiris and Maine, nodding firmly.

Almost simultaneously, Kirk's communicator lit up again, and Uhura's voice, barely a whisper, came through, with the distinctive echo of the Enterprise's conduits in the background: "Captain, we've found an opportunity! On D-7 deck's maintenance tunnel, the Klingons' guard is relatively weak. Scott has managed to temporarily bypass some of their lock on the transporter system.

We can establish a temporary, low-power transport point here, but the window is very short, lasting less than thirty seconds, and the energy signature might be detected!"

"That's enough!" Kirk immediately responded. "Prepare to receive Maine's team. Synchronize the transport coordinates with Magos Osiris immediately."

A faint mechanical whirring came from within Osiris' massive body, as he had evidently intercepted and processed the coordinate data through some means: "Coordinates confirmed. Transport sequence ready. Maine, you have twenty seconds to complete deployment and engage the enemy."

Maine let out a low growl: "Understood." He and his crew members had already checked their weapons.

All eyes turned to the open area outside the camp, shrouded in strange light and thunderstorms, as the Klingons' shuttle pierced through the clouds, descending slowly with a massive engine roar.

The klingon shuttle landed roughly in the open area outside the camp. Before the dust kicked up by the engines had fully settled, the hatch lifted open.

Fully armed Klingon Soldiers charged out first, quickly fanning out and aiming their disruptor rifles at the people in the camp, their eyes fierce and vigilant.

Finally, the bulky figure of Commander K'Rotar appeared at the hatchway.

He was clad in heavy battle armor, his face bearing the Klingons' characteristic arrogance and a triumphant sneer, as he strode towards Kirk.

His gaze greedily swept across the camp, quickly locking onto young Spock, who had been tampered with by Osiris and was surrounded by faint energy disturbances—in his eyes, that was undoubtedly the 'Genesis Torpedo' containing the mighty power of destruction and creation.

"Kirk," K'Rotar's voice carried undisguised mockery, "it seems you've finally learned to face reality. You should have done so earlier, it would have spared your crew some..."

He was cut short.

Without any warning, several pale blue energy fields, centered on him and the few core attendants K'Rotar brought, suddenly erupted and merged, instantly forming a larger spherical stasis field.

K'Rotar's mocking expression, his hand half-raised as if to point at Kirk, his attendants' vigilant glances—everything froze in an instant, like insects encased in invisible resin, completely suspended outside of time.

"Control complete." Osiris' synthesized voice sounded calmly, as if he had merely completed a simple experimental operation.

Almost at the same moment the stasis field took effect, Kirk roared into the communicator: "Uhura, now!"

The already prepared Maine's team members and Kirk himself were instantly enveloped by the tractor beam from the Enterprise, their figures in the camp becoming blurred, transparent, and then disappearing.

The next second, the dizzying sensation of transport quickly faded, and Kirk and Maine's team were already in the Enterprise's D-7 deck's narrow, pipe-filled maintenance tunnel, where the lights flickered urgently.

The air was filled with ozone and a faint, subtle scent of blood, and in the distance, the faint sounds of phaser fire and klingon roars could be heard.

Uhura and a security officer with a smoke-smudged face stood guard by a temporarily modified panel.

"Captain!" Uhura visibly relaxed when she saw Kirk appear, but her eyes remained urgent. "The main klingon forces are concentrated on the bridge, engineering, and main weapons control. They are trying to breach the main computer's security lock!"

"Where's Scott?" Kirk asked quickly, simultaneously taking the phaser Uhura handed him.

"Scott is organizing resistance near engineering, but the situation is dire, there are too many Klingons!"

A sharp glint flashed in Kirk's eyes as he looked at Maine's team, who stood like war machines beside him.

"Maine, the bridge is yours and your crew's. Use whatever methods you deem most effective to eliminate all resistance and regain control! I'm going to engineering to support Scott!" Kirk's command was clear and decisive; he entrusted the most difficult task, requiring specialized combat skills, to the most suitable people.

Maine nodded slightly, without even an extra reply. With a simple gesture, his crew members instantly entered combat mode.

Dorio led the charge, with Valerie and Jackie following closely to secure both sides of the passage, while Falco and Morris silently merged into the shadows like ghosts.

"Move out!" Kirk growled, phaser in hand, and with Uhura and the security officer, he rushed towards engineering.

The battle to retake the Enterprise suddenly erupted within the steel corridors of the legendary starship.
