Chapter 28 - Determined Decision

(Cyrus's POV)

"This is completely unacceptable behavior, Your Grace!" The one religious guy exclaimed as I was sitting on a table, leaning my arm on the chair, "To cause such chaos and panic! I do not care about what he calls himself, what he did was unacceptable! He endangered the people of the city, he nearly destroyed several ships and-"

"Enough, Barth." The King said as he waved him off, "I am aware."

After killing the Snake and some of his men, the Prince was rather angry at me. He told me that the King was going to want to have a word. I told him that I would sit quietly and let his people scold me if they gave me some food and something good to drink because I am really tired of all of this.

After eating and having some of his servants take the plates away, the King's right hand man was shouting at me. He was spouting some shit about the Faith and the Red God's religion. It's pretty damn obvious that he doesn't like any other religion that isn't his. Reminds me of a certain other religion from my world.

I never really paid any attention to them.

Jaehaerys was looking at me, "Cyrus." He said, "Why did you do it?"

I looked at him with a shrug, "I wanted to."

"You wanted to?" He said as he sat down, "You wanted to plunge those men in your flames? You wanted to cause chaos in the city?"

"I gave scum what they deserved." I said, "And I hurt nobody else."

"You are putting me in a perilous position." Jaehaerys said seriously, "I do not mean to antagonize you, I don't-"

"You don't have to lie, Jaehaerys." I said as I leaned back, "You're scared."

"Pardon?" Barth said, "Listen here, The Faith does not fear you."

"I don't mean the Faith, you fanatic." I said with a scowl, "Are you Targaryen? Do you ride dragons?"

"No." He said, "But I am the Hand of The King."

"Shut the fuck up then." I said with a glare, "I don't speak or listen to bums who speak in the stead of someone who can speak for themselves."

"Barth is the Hand of The King, his word holds the same authority as mine." Jaehaerys said, "That is why he is here."

"Whatever." I said as I crossed my arms, "But you're afraid, Jaehaerys. A Dragonriding King, who has the power to keep the Kingdoms in check. Any wrong move from any of your subjects and they risk getting one of your beasts to burn them. Of course, you won't do it. Because you care more about the fragile peace."

"Hm." He said

"But, someone like me comes along." I said, "And I don't think the fact that I am called the Lord of Light is what frightens you like it does this one."

I gestured at the Barth guy, who was giving me a serious stare.

"Go on." Jaehaerys said, calmly looking at me

"It is what I possess." I said, "Power. Yes, you Targaryens have the power to reduce anything to ashes. But it requires a Dragon, if you can call them that. But me? I can do that without the need for a dragon. As we are in this room, you cannot do anything to me in regards to setting me ablaze. You have to wait and go all the way towards the dragon pen you have, but me? I can set this entire place on fire, burning it to the ground. And you are scared, rightfully so."

"If you are threatening the King." Barth said, "Make your words clearer so I can have you apprehended."

"There is no point, Barth." He said, "No weapons can harm him. The best way to deal with him is to be as peaceful as we possibly can. If he truly wanted to destroy the Red Keep, he would have done so by now. Or at least, he would have attempted to do so."

Barth looked at him, a conflicted frown on his face. It is as if he knew that the King was speaking the truth. I mean, I don't want to burn everything down with the powers I have. I have no reason for it, it would only cause unwanted trouble. Besides, the more conflict I start, the closer people will get to the realization that they can throw me into the ocean.

Let's keep them on edge, make them think I truly am invincible.

But, I don't know if the weakness applies to me still. But I won't take the risk.

"I am done here." I said suddenly

"And that means what?" Jaehaerys asked me

"I killed the Snake." I said, "I have some people making sure that the children of the city are being cared for. Your Queen is also overseeing that matter, so I hear. But I have no other reason for being here."

"And where might you go?" Barth asked me

"I don't think it should matter to you." I said as I tilted my head, "But you can have your spies, your little birds, to keep tabs on me should you wish. It doesn't matter to me, I don't feel one bit threatened by you lot. The Faith of The Seven. My Priestess told me all about you. It is quite an interesting religion. But sometimes, you fuckers take things too far and extreme, it almost makes it a cult."

"We are not a Cult." Barth said, "You do well to keep that out of your mouth. The Cultists here are you who-"

"Barth." Jaehaerys said, "That is enough. When it comes to the Faith, Cyrus, Barth becomes very strict."

"I am aware." I said, standing up, "But I will leave this place. You fools have nothing to worry about when it comes to me. I don't want to deal with your annoying voices anymore, constantly crying about things I do."

"Hm." Jaehaerys said, "I see. And where do you plan to go?"

I looked at him,

"Essos."
