Chapter 2 - your first rejection

He smiled, showing his bright teeth. It was clear how excited he was when he glanced at her.

But after a few minutes of conversation in a gathering of friends, his smile disappeared when he realized his long-time crush was looking at his best friend the way he looked at her.

He tried to maintain his smile so it wouldn't seem obvious. At that moment, he realized he had become the third wall between them. He wanted to cry but couldn't at the time. Deep inside, he was crushing on himself for his belated realization. His overly late reaction was typically corporate-like in its restraint. He wanted to slap himself but not in the gathering. He tried to appear cool in front of his friends, especially in front of his crush.

But a few minutes later, his wandering eyes met mine. My brief glance made him more uncomfortable than I had anticipated. So I directed my gaze to the floor. As soon as I finished my food, I immediately stood up and left the restaurant as quickly as I could, without looking back at the boy whom I had met with my eyes a few minutes before.

I am not a heartless person. I want to hug him, but my introverted nature will not allow me. But on the road, I spotted him; he was walking while holding a bottle of liquid in his right hand. I just observed him, not wanting to interfere with his painful moment.
