Chapter 3 - chapter 3: the figure in black

Li Jian entered the dimly lit room, the scent of incense wafting through the air. Martial Uncle Wang sat on a cushion, his eyes closed, his breathing slow and steady. Li Jian approached him, bowing respectfully.

"Martial Uncle Wang," Li Jian said, his voice low and respectful.

Martial Uncle Wang's eyes opened, and he gazed at Li Jian. "Ah, Li Jian. I sense that you have brought someone with you. A young man, full of potential and fire."

Li Jian nodded. "Yes, Martial Uncle. His name is Feng Yun. He's a talented young martial artist, and I've been training him."

Martial Uncle Wang's interest was piqued. "Feng Yun, you say? I would like to meet him. Why is he not with you?"

Li Jian's expression turned solemn. "He's waiting outside, Martial Uncle. He's hesitant to meet you, feeling that he's not worthy."

Martial Uncle Wang's eyes narrowed. "Not worthy? That's intriguing. Tell me more about this Feng Yun."

Li Jian began to recount Feng Yun's story, from the streets to his natural talent in martial arts. Martial Uncle Wang listened intently, his expression unreadable.

When Li Jian finished, Martial Uncle Wang nodded thoughtfully. "I see. A young man with a difficult past, yet he possesses a strong will and determination. I'd like to meet him, Li Jian. Bring him to me."

Li Jian's eyes widened in surprise. "But Martial Uncle, he specifically asked me to—"

Martial Uncle Wang's voice took on a hint of authority. "Bring him to me, Li Jian. I want to see this Feng Yun for myself."

Li Jian bowed, a hint of a smile on his face. "As you wish, Martial Uncle

As Li Jian turned to leave, Martial Uncle Wang's voice stopped him. "Li Jian, one more thing. I sense that Feng Yun is not just any ordinary young man. He has a certain... aura about him. I believe he may be connected to the prophecy."

Li Jian's eyes widened in surprise. "The prophecy, Martial Uncle? You mean the one about the—"

Martial Uncle Wang nodded, his expression serious. "Yes, the one about the Dragon's Rebirth. I fear that Feng Yun's destiny is more complicated than we initially thought."

Li Jian's mind was racing. Could it be true? Was Feng Yun the one destined to bring about great change?

Just then, a loud crash echoed from outside the room. Li Jian and Martial Uncle Wang exchanged a concerned glance.

"What's going on?" Martial Uncle Wang asked, his voice firm.

Li Jian rushed to the door and flung it open. Outside, he saw Feng Yun standing alone in the hallway, his eyes fixed on something on the floor.

"Feng Yun, what's—"

But before Li Jian could finish, Feng Yun's eyes locked onto his, and he saw something there that made his heart sink.

"What is it, Feng Yun?" Li Jian asked, his voice low and urgent.

Feng Yun's voice was barely above a whisper. "I... I saw someone. A figure in black. They were watching me."

Martial Uncle Wang's expression turned grave. "A figure in black, you say? We need to get him to safety.

Feng Yun's eyes scanned the hallway, but there was no one in sight. He must have imagined it, he thought. But the feeling of being watched lingered.

Li Jian approached him, concern etched on his face. "Feng Yun, what's going on? You look like you've seen a ghost."

Feng Yun shook his head. "I... I don't know. I thought I saw someone. But it's probably nothing."

Martial Uncle Wang appeared beside Li Jian, his eyes narrowed. "We can't take any chances. Li Jian, take Feng Yun to the safe house. I'll investigate this further."

Li Jian nodded, his expression serious. "Come on, Feng Yun. Let's go."

As they made their way through the winding corridors, Feng Yun couldn't shake off the feeling that he was being watched. He glanced over his shoulder, but there was no one there.

When they reached the safe house, Li Jian turned to Feng Yun. "Stay here and stay safe. I'll come back for you when it's clear."

Feng Yun nodded, feeling a sense of unease. "Be careful, big brother Li."

As Li Jian left, Feng Yun felt a sense of isolation. He was alone, and he didn't know who to trust. The figure in black had seemed so real...

Suddenly, he heard a faint noise coming from outside the window. Feng Yun's heart skipped a beat as he saw a shadowy figure lurking in the darkness.

The figure in black.

Feng Yun's instincts kicked in, and he prepared to defend himself. But as the figure stepped into the moonlight, Feng Yun's eyes widened in shock.

The figure was himself.

Or rather, someone who looked exactly like him.

"Who are you?" Feng Yun demanded, his voice firm.

The doppelganger smiled, and Feng Yun felt a chill run down his spine. "I'm you," the doppelganger said, its voice identical to Feng Yun's. "Or at least, I'm supposedd to be
