Chapter 9 - chapter 9:escape

Feng Yun's mind racing, he smiled and nodded, trying to appear nonchalant. "Thank you, Dr. Kim," he said. "That's very kind of you."

Dr. Kim stood up, her eyes never leaving his face. "I'll walk you out," she repeated, her voice firm.

Feng Yun knew that he had to think fast. He couldn't let Dr. Kim escort him out of the building, not now that he had planted the device. He needed to get out of there as quickly and quietly as possible.

As they walked out of the office, Feng Yun's eyes scanned the hallway, looking for an opportunity to make his escape. He spotted a stairwell door slightly ajar, and he knew that was his chance.

"Excuse me, Dr. Kim," he said, gesturing to the stairwell. "I think I'll take the stairs. It's just a few floors down."

Dr. Kim's eyes narrowed, her expression suspicious. "I'll walk you down to the elevator, Mr. Chen," she said. "It's no trouble at all."

Feng Yun's heart sank. He knew that he couldn't let Dr. Kim escort him to the elevator. He needed to act fast.

Without hesitation, he reached out and opened the stairwell door, gesturing for Dr. Kim to go ahead of him. "After you, Dr. Kim," he said, trying to sound polite.

Dr. Kim hesitated for a moment, her eyes locked onto his. For a moment, Feng Yun thought he saw a glimmer of suspicion in her eyes. But then, she nodded and stepped towards the stairwell.

As she walked through the doorway, Feng Yun quickly followed, his heart racing with excitement. He knew that he had to get out of there, fast.

Once they were both in the stairwell, Feng Yun made his move. He quickly grabbed Dr. Kim, covering her mouth to silence her. "Don't make a sound," he whispered, his voice low and menacing.

Dr. Kim struggled against him, but Feng Yun held her firm. He knew that he had to get out of there, and he couldn't let her raise an alarm.

With Dr. Kim secure, Feng Yun quickly made his way down the stairs, his heart pounding in his chest. He knew that he had to get out of the building, and fast.

As they reached the ground floor, Feng Yun could hear the sound of footsteps echoing through the stairwell. Someone was coming. He knew that he had to act fast.

Without hesitation, he pushed Dr. Kim into a nearby alcove, holding her against the wall. "Don't know what you're talking about, Dr. Kim," she said, her voice firm.

The guards were getting closer, their footsteps echoing through the stairwell. Feng Yun knew that he had to get out of there, fast.

With a quick move, he grabbed Dr. Kim and pulled her down the stairs, his heart pounding in his chest. They were running out of time.

Feng Yun pulled Dr. Kim down the stairs, his heart racing with excitement. He could hear the guards getting closer, their footsteps echoing through the stairwell.

As they reached the bottom floor, Feng Yun quickly scanned the area, looking for an exit. He spotted a door marked "Emergency Exit" and pulled Dr. Kim towards it.

"Let's go," he whispered, pushing Dr. Kim through the door.

They emerged into the bright sunlight, the sounds of the city bustling around them. Feng Yun quickly scanned the area, looking for a way to get out of there.

"Get in the car," he said, spotting a taxi parked nearby.

Dr. Kim struggled against him, but Feng Yun held her firm. "Don't make a sound," he whispered, his eyes locked onto hers.

The taxi driver looked up as Feng Yun pushed Dr. Kim into the backseat. "Where to?" he asked, eyeing Dr. Kim warily.

"Just drive," Feng Yun said, handing the driver a wad of cash. "Get us out of here."

The taxi pulled away from the curb, leaving the organization's building behind. Feng Yun let out a breath of relief as they merged into the city traffic.

But Dr. Kim was not going to go quietly. She struggled against her restraints, her eyes flashing with anger. "You're making a big mistake," she said, her voice low and menacing. "You don't know what you're dealing with."

Feng Yun smiled, his eyes locked onto hers. "I know exactly what I'm dealing with," he said. "And I'm not going to let you stop me."

The taxi driver glanced in the rearview mirror, his eyes flicking between Feng Yun and Dr. Kim. "Everything okay back there?" he asked, his voice cautious.

Feng Yun nodded, his eyes never leaving Dr. Kim's face. "Everything's fine," he said. "Just drive."

The taxi continued to weave through the city traffic, Feng Yun's mind racing with possibilities. He knew that the organization would be looking for him, and he needed to get Dr. Kim to a safe location.

But as he looked at Dr. Kim, he knew that he had a problem. She was a high-ranking official in the organization, and she would stop at nothing to escape.

Feng Yun's grip on her arm tightened. He knew that he had to keep her safe, at least for now. But he also knew that he couldn't trust her.

The game was on. And Feng Yun was ready to play.

As the taxi sped through the city streets, Feng Yun's phone rang. He answered it, his eyes locked onto Dr. Kim's face.

"Yes?" he said, his voice firm.

"It's Jian," the voice on the other end said. "I've been monitoring the situation. You're clear for now, but you need to get Dr. Kim to a safe location. The organization will be looking for her."

Feng Yun nodded, his eyes never leaving Dr. Kim's face. "I've got it," he said. "I'll take care of her."

The line went dead, and Feng Yun tucked the phone away. He looked at Dr. Kim, a small smile playing on his lips.

"It's time to take a little trip," he said, his voice low and menacing.

Dr. Kim's eyes flashed with anger, but Feng Yun just smiled. He knew that he had the upper hand. For now.

Feng Yun's phone beeped, indicating a message from Jian. He glanced at the screen, his eyes scanning the message.

"Change of plans," Jian had written. "Take Dr. Kim to the old warehouse on 5th and Main. We'll regroup there."

Feng Yun nodded, his mind racing with possibilities. He leaned forward and tapped the driver on the shoulder.

"Take a detour," he said. "We're going to 5th and Main."

The driver nodded and made a series of quick turns, navigating through the city streets. Feng Yun kept a close eye on Dr. Kim, who sat quietly in the backseat, her eyes fixed on him.

As they approached the warehouse, Feng Yun could feel a sense of unease building in his chest. Something didn't feel right.

The taxi pulled up in front of the warehouse, and Feng Yun paid the driver. He got out of the car, his eyes scanning the area.

The warehouse was a nondescript building, with crumbling brick walls and a rusty metal door. Feng Yun's instincts told him to be cautious, but he knew he had to get Dr. Kim to safety.

He opened the back door and pulled Dr. Kim out, his grip firm on her arm. "Let's go," he said, his voice low.

Dr. Kim stumbled slightly as she got out of the car, but Feng Yun held her upright. He glanced around, making sure they were alone, before pushing her towards the warehouse door.

As they stepped inside, Feng Yun's eyes adjusted to the dim light. The warehouse was empty, except for a figure standing in the shadows.

"Jian?" Feng Yun called out, his voice echoing off the walls.

The figure stepped forward, and Feng Yun's eyes widened in surprise. It wasn't Jian.

It was someone else, someone with a cold, calculating gaze.

"Welcome, Feng Yun," the figure said, its voice dripping with menace. "I've been waiting for you."

Feng Yun's grip on Dr. Kim's arm tightened. He knew that he was in trouble. Big trouble.
