Ruby's POV
Mr. and Mrs. Mitchell stood there like deer caught in headlights, gawking at Elias with their mouths hanging open. The old man had the nerve to mutter something about his son being better than anyone.
"Dad!" Stanley's voice cracked like a whip. "That's Alpha Elias Karl!"
Both parents sucked in sharp breaths as reality finally dawned on them.
"Oh my goodness, you're Kate's brother," Mrs. Mitchell squeaked, her entire demeanor flipping to sickening sweetness.
"I suppose that makes us practically family now."
She rubbed her sweaty palm against her cheap dress before extending her hand toward Elias with an expectant smile.
I bit back a laugh. Did this woman seriously think the Alpha would acknowledge her pathetic attempt at social climbing?
Elias didn't even spare her outstretched hand a glance. His voice cut through the air like ice when he spoke. "I don't recall giving Stanley Mitchell ownership of half my territory."
