Ruby's POV
The world tilted beneath my feet.
This couldn't be real. Not Kate. Not my friend.
"Kate, there has to be some mistake. Why would you—"
"Enough lies!" Her voice cracked like a whip across the ballroom. "I should have never trusted you. Should have never called you friend!"
"I never deceived you! Our friendship meant everything to me!"
My words only fueled her rage. Her face twisted with fury as she screamed, "Stop lying! You think I'm stupid? You think I don't know you were sleeping with my husband? That you didn't throw yourself at him like some desperate whore?"
"Yes, Stanley and I had history. But after we ended things, I kept my distance. I swear on everything—"
"Bullshit!" she shrieked, cutting me off. "And Stanley wasn't enough for you, was he? You had to sink your claws into my brother too! How many men do you need, you pathetic slut?"
"Kate, please—"
"Save it. I have evidence."
