Ruby's POV
Ice-cold terror slithered down my back as sweat beaded on my skin.
"Ruby? What's happening? Talk to me!" Kate's frantic voice crackled through the phone.
Edward stepped into my room and shut the door with deliberate slowness, the blade gleaming as he aimed it directly at my chest. "End that call. Now."
My throat constricted as I managed to whisper "Find help" before cutting the line.
"So you figured it out." I pressed my spine against the wall, searching for any escape route. "The shooting. My sabotaged brakes. Bonnie's little helper. That was you all along."
His mouth twisted into something that barely resembled a smile. "Took you long enough to connect the dots."
"What's your endgame here? Sure, Bonnie wants Elias back and I'm standing in her way. But what do you get from murdering me?"
