Time was slipping away like sand through his fingers.
Elias couldn't afford to waste another second on anything else.
Ruby needed him now.
He strode back toward the operating room, intercepting the doctor before he could disappear behind the sterile doors.
"The blood shortage complicates everything," the doctor admitted, his expression grim after hearing the full situation. "However, there might be one emergency solution. Something that could keep Miss Ross breathing."
"Tell me," Elias demanded without hesitation.
"Alpha blood contains extraordinary healing compounds for pack members. If Miss Ross belonged to your pack, a direct transfusion from you could pull her back from the edge."
Elias's chest tightened.
Of course.
Every Alpha knew this fundamental truth. The sacred connection between leader and pack ran deeper than loyalty or tradition.
When death came knocking, that bond could literally drag someone back from the brink.
He cursed himself for not remembering sooner.
