Ruby's POV
The screams around me seemed to echo in slow motion as I plummeted toward the ground. My wolf instincts kicked in at the final moment, but the impact still sent shockwaves through my body. My ankle twisted with a sickening pop.
"Ruby!" Stanley's voice cracked with panic from above.
Before I could even process what happened, Justin appeared beside me. His strong arms lifted me effortlessly from the cold stone.
"Talk to me. How bad is it?" His voice was surprisingly gentle.
Pain shot through my leg like lightning. "My ankle feels like it's on fire. I think it's twisted pretty badly."
"A twisted ankle from a ten-meter drop? Come on, you're tougher than that," he said with a hint of his usual smirk.
"I'm not some battle-hardened warrior, okay?" I shot back through gritted teeth.
Stanley rushed over, his face pale with worry. He reached toward my injured foot. "Jesus, let me see how bad it is."
Justin's arm blocked him instantly.
