Ruby's POV
"You have got to be joking," I said through clenched teeth.
Alpha Michael shrugged with casual indifference. "I don't mess around when it comes to matters of the heart, darling. Now take a seat and shut up. I wasn't addressing you anyway."
"Speak to her that way again and we're going to have serious issues," Elias's voice dropped to a dangerous growl, his eyes shifting darker.
"Oh really? What exactly will you do about it? Tear my throat out? Storm into my pack lands like your old man used to? Go right ahead. Nothing you could do would shock me at this point."
"Michael!" Bonnie's voice cut sharp through the tension.
I studied the woman's face carefully. Had she orchestrated this entire confrontation? Was she deliberately trying to ignite a battle between Michael and Elias?
Her expression was unreadable. But in this moment, she appeared genuinely frustrated with Michael's aggressive outburst.
