Chapter 3 - Chapter 3: The Tokai Household’s “Kindness”

Ten months pregnant, she safely gave birth to twins. The very next day, Tokai Shizen was politely asked to leave the Tokai Family home.

It was fortunate that Tokai Shizen was an Uma Musume, and her physical condition was slightly better than that of a human.

Otherwise, given Tokai Shizen's frail condition and being asked to leave the day after giving birth, her body would probably already be half-cold.

Of course, just as before, for Tokai Shizen, the problems she had to face always came one after another.

Looking at the child in the swaddling clothes, Tokai Shizen's expression was not good.

She had left with nothing; in other words, apart from the child in her arms, she only had the clothes on her back.

However, according to the Tokai Family, Tokai Shizen should have actually had a debt to pay for the care expenses during her ten-month pregnancy after she was discovered by Rudolph Symboli. But because the Tokai Family was kind-hearted, it was waived.

But this was not important to Tokai Shizen.

Her truly important matters now were... "First, I have been disowned by the Tokai Family. Second, I don't have a single penny. Third, although I can work, but..."

Looking at the tightly shut wooden door, Tokai Shizen turned around and faced the road.

Because of Rudolph Symboli's existence, the Tokai Family, fearing retaliation, would absolutely not allow Tokai Shizen to find work, at least for now.

Therefore, for Tokai Shizen, the only way to get to Tokyo was to do odd jobs.

And relying solely on odd jobs, although she could support her daughter, her own body...

Thinking of this, Tokai Shizen merely exhaled.

White mist came out of her mouth, which made Tokai Shizen realize something she hadn't noticed while in the temperature-controlled rooms of the Tokai Family.

It seemed to be winter now.

Realizing this, Tokai Shizen merely hugged the child in her arms a little tighter, then quickly left the entrance of the Tokai Family home.

Her body was not well, so she had to find a place to shelter from the snow before it started.

The area where the Tokai Family was located, at least this region chosen to ensure that Tokai Shizen's childbirth would not be discovered by the Symboli Family, was not in the city.

It was precisely because of this that Tokai Shizen was now facing new difficulties.

How could she survive in the gradually dropping temperatures?

The sanatorium in the wilderness had only one road and one mountain path leading to the outside world, and because it was just a sanatorium, there were no buses or anything similar directly connecting to it.

It was precisely because of this that Tokai Shizen was now walking alone on one side of the road, unable to even see anything that could serve as shelter.

And snow began to fall from the sky.

If this continued, perhaps...

Thinking of this, Tokai Shizen lowered her head and looked at her feet.

She was wishing she could run.

But there are no "ifs" in the world.

Tokai Shizen's body had originally prevented her from entering the racecourse, let alone now with the debuff of having just given birth not long ago.

So, even if she wanted to get down the mountain quickly, it was impossible.

Fortunately, she still had a little bit of luck.

Only a few snowflakes continued to fall from the sky.

In such weather, Tokai Shizen finally managed to leave the Tokai Family's privately owned land.

Not long after leaving the land bought by the Tokai Family, Tokai Shizen arrived at a small town.

For convenience of supply, the sanatoriums prepared by Uma Musume families, although located in suburban areas, were not too far from human settlements, as the transportation of supplies to sanatoriums also cost a significant amount of money.

It was precisely because of this that Tokai Shizen was now barely able to find her next path.

Due to the Tokai Family's influence, it was highly unlikely that this town, which was within the Tokai Family's sphere of influence, would take her in for long. Therefore, there was actually only one place she could go next: Tokyo.

Although the Tokai Family's influence existed, it was not yet that immense at this time.

At this time, the Tokai Family had not yet produced any particularly strong Uma Musume, so their influence in Tokyo was limited.

Besides Tokyo, some other cities were also options for Tokai Shizen, but the problem lay in the distance and the cost of getting there.

And the Tokai Family was, after all, one of the Central Uma Musume noble families, even if their current performance was a bit lacking.

But the Tokai Family was indeed located within the Tokyo metropolitan area.

So, it was understandable that Tokyo was the destination Tokai Shizen could choose. However, Tokai Shizen actually chose Tokyo for two reasons:

The first was to easily earn money.

The second was that the Tokai Family's influence was not yet strong enough to completely prevent her from finding work in Tokyo.

She had to earn enough money in Tokyo before her daughter's talent emerged, and then move to another city to live.

Although the cost of living in Tokyo was high, the opportunities to earn money were also much greater than in other cities, so she could only choose to go to Tokyo.

As for later?

When Tokai Teio's talent emerged, Tokai Shizen would likely not need to worry about work.

Because she knew that at that time, the Tokai Family's presence in the Central region would be greatly enhanced.

And if the Tokai Family still held a grudge against her at that time, even if she had a job, she probably...

So she had to get to Tokyo quickly.

Having made this decision, Tokai Shizen looked around. She couldn't find any buildings that could indicate the time.

She needed to know the current time, and then she could decide whether to find a few cardboard boxes tonight to barely keep herself from dying, or to make do with a cleaner trash can;

Or to return to the Tokai Family's previous territory and use the resources there to build a temporary shelter where she could barely survive for one night.

As for finding a place to stay for a while?

She had no money.

Regardless of whether this small town had convenient things like internet cafes, even if there were internet cafes, for Tokai Shizen, they were still out of reach.

The reason was still the same: the common saying that a penny can make a hero suffer was all too common in this world.

But Tokai Shizen would not complain about this situation, nor did she have time to complain.

Pressed by the issues of her child and her own body, she had to utilize what she could to determine a longer-term future,

and,

the future of the child in her arms.
