Chapter 52 - Your Kaiju Are Too Small:-Chapter 52: When Snipe and Clam Fight, the Fisherman Profits

Yoki ended himself unexpectedly.

Between execution on the spot and life imprisonment, he chose to send himself off.

Natsuki watched Yoki dissolve into a mist of blood, his gaze growing more serious.

"An organization using Travelers to collect Space-Time Source Energy..."

The information Ebert provided matched everything this guy said.

The mastermind behind this definitely wasn't ordinary.

He didn't know if it would pose a threat to the Land of Light.

The nature of this mission had changed. He had to relay this information back. This was no longer simply about dealing with invaders.

"Also, this place... was an important Precursor stronghold, but before I arrived, a small group of Precursors transferred out ahead of time."

"Among them was a Precursor named Quek."

Natsuki surveyed the crimson space once more, knowing his mission in this world was far from over.

Then—

He raised his head, looking toward the Breach above that connected Earth to this space.

"Anyway... better leave here first."

All the Kaiju factories here had been destroyed. There shouldn't be any Kaiju attacks on Earth for a while.

What needed attention were mainly the other Travelers. They were the real enemies.

So—

Natsuki used telekinesis to carry Striker Eureka's two escape pods, leaping up through the ruins and flying toward the Breach.

When a Traveler died, the first to notice were the other Travelers.

"That guy Yoki... is dead?"

In a space of ghostly blue, Quek's eyes snapped open. He spoke in disbelief.

"The Kaiju left there could cleanse Earth ten times over, and there was even a specially created super Kaiju... But even so, it failed?"

He paced in this strange room, thinking about what could have gone wrong.

"Human nukes couldn't detonate in that space."

"Besides... even if humans detonated a nuke, it wouldn't have the power to kill Yoki."

"The only possibility is that Ultraman."

Quek suddenly remembered the Ultraman who'd stopped their plans in Sitka and killed Leatherback.

"I didn't expect Ultraman to have such power."

"Looks like... you really can't judge an enemy's strength by stereotypes."

"Good thing I left Yoki there."

He felt fortunate that he'd made backup preparations ahead of time, bringing a group of personnel to transfer here early.

Otherwise, he'd be dead there like Yoki right now.

"Your death helped me probe the enemy's capabilities, so you didn't die in vain," Quek muttered to himself.

He felt not a shred of sympathy for Yoki's death—only analyzed the pros and cons.

Travelers had a competitive relationship. Even when temporarily grouped together, no trust existed.

Quek had completely used Yoki.

From the results, Yoki had fulfilled his value.

"Looks like I need to prepare a new plan..."

Soon, Quek's figure vanished from this ghostly blue room.

Pacific Ocean, surface.

"Final strike!" Raleigh and Mako shouted in unison.

Facing the dawn, Gipsy Danger stepped across the reef. In the surging waves, it charged toward the Category V Kaiju Slattern, swinging the chain sword on its wrist!

"ROOOAR!"

Crimson Typhoon—having lost one arm—now held Slattern in place.

Their alternating attacks had already wounded Slattern severely. Now only the final blow remained.

"BANG!"

Gipsy Danger leaped high through the spray, the chain sword slashing across Slattern's head!

"Roooo..."

Slattern let out one final choked cry. Then its head separated completely from its body, falling into the seawater along with spurting blue blood.

All life drained away.

They'd succeeded. They'd successfully killed a Category V Kaiju!

"Beautifully done!" Wei Tiger Tang watched this scene from Crimson Typhoon's cockpit, shouting excitedly.

"You've completely changed my impression of you."

"Well done, Gipsy Danger!"

"Well done, Raleigh, Mako!"

Originally, because of the test failure, they'd all had a poor impression of the two, believing they shouldn't participate in this mission. But now, after jointly defeating a Category V Kaiju, they'd completely changed their minds.

Truly impressive—one day made all the difference.

Mako smiled in Gipsy Danger's cockpit.

Raleigh also smiled, though he said more steadily: "Without your help, we couldn't have done it."

"This victory belongs to Crimson Typhoon and Gipsy Danger!"

Long absent from the battlefield, and coming back to take down a Category V Kaiju—he hadn't let his brother down.

As they basked in their joy—

He thought: "Wonder how Natsu's doing."

"Entering the Breach interior, not a word of news."

The moment he said this—

He suddenly felt a tremor from beneath the water.

Then—

"SPLASH!"

A massive figure burst through the surface, raising huge waves, flying into the air toward the dawn.

"What the hell?" Raleigh didn't process what was happening.

But when he looked up and saw the red-and-silver giant in midair, he laughed.

At the same time, cheers erupted in the Shatterdome command center.

"Success!"

"The Breach has collapsed!"

"They did it!"

Tendo and the other technicians raised their arms in celebration. A relieved smile appeared on Marshal Stacker's face too.

And on the Pacific surface—

Mako and Crimson Typhoon's three pilots watched the giant standing in midair, back to the dawn, feeling somewhat awestruck.

"So that's... Mr. Natsuki's true form."

Just one glance conveyed the power and order this body represented.

Then Striker Eureka's escape pods fell to the surface. The hatches opened. Herc Hansen and Chuck Hansen climbed out, breathing in Earth's fresh air, watching the rising dawn.

Smiling, they said: "We really lucked out this time."

"We... did it!"

Natsuki's massive body also dissolved into particles of light scattering in the wind. Then he appeared in human form on Gipsy Danger's shoulder.

His green floral shirt flapped in the wind. He gazed at the brilliant sun.

Unlike the others, he said somewhat seriously: "It's not over yet. After we get back, we still need to formulate a new plan."

San Francisco.

The base beneath the Kaiju remains.

"The one who died was actually the Precursor side..." Leiman looked at the message in his email, frowning.

He'd thought the Traveler who died this time would be from the Jaeger forces, but the reality was exactly opposite.

The Breach had really been destroyed by them.

"No, it's also possible the Traveler on Stacker's side destroyed the Breach at the cost of their life."

"After all, no matter how you look at it, the power gap between both sides was too great."

He pondered.

The Precursors' combat power and humanity's combat power weren't even on the same level. Perhaps they'd still closed the Breach by paying some price, just like in the original fate.

"With the Breach closed, the drone Jaeger deployment will slow down a bit."

"But... those big shots won't go back on their word easily."

"When the drone Jaegers are fully deployed, that's when I win!"

When snipe and clam fight, the fisherman profits.

As the final fisherman, dealing with either side would be very easy for Leiman.

Stacker only had a handful of Jaegers under his command, and after this battle they'd be damaged. But in his own hands? He had an entire army of drone Jaegers!
