Chapter 51 - Your Kaiju Are Too Small:-Chapter 51: Traveler

Not a single intact structure remained in the entire space.

So when a perfectly unharmed Precursor suddenly appeared after the super Kaiju was killed, it was hard not to suspect a connection between them.

Moreover, the words this individual spoke caught Natsuki's attention.

This guy knew about Ultraman, and mentioned something about a mission...

Worth investigating.

So Yoki—who'd just been preparing to retreat—watched helplessly as the giant who'd beaten him into the ground came right up to him.

Now, he was no longer a super Kaiju.

The Precursor's three-meter height finally felt the oppression of facing a giant when confronted with Ultraman. That massive body blocked out the light in the space, leaving him in shadow.

Yoki stiffly raised his head, not quite daring to meet the giant's bright eyes.

But the giant spoke first.

"I am a member of the Space Garrison from Nebula M78 in another universe. I came to investigate abnormal space-time fluctuations." A deep, serious voice transmitted directly into his mind through telepathy.

"I'll be direct. You... aren't an ordinary Precursor, are you?"

After discovering something off about this guy, Natsuki didn't plan on beating around the bush. Both sides would speak plainly.

He suspected this guy was one of the outsiders Ebert had mentioned.

By rights, the Precursors shouldn't know the term "Ultraman." Combined with this guy mentioning a "mission," and connecting it with the information Ebert had provided earlier, it was easy to deduce this guy's identity.

"I..." Yoki looked up at the giant, his heart in complete turmoil, his feet unconsciously shuffling backward.

Now that his true body had been caught by Ultraman, this disaster... he probably couldn't escape.

The giant's words also left him somewhat confused.

Investigating abnormal space-time fluctuations?

It sounded like they were specifically targeting Travelers like them.

Instinctively, he wanted to beg for mercy.

He thought that with Ultraman's overly kind-hearted nature, as long as he made up some excuse, the giant would let him go.

But then he surveyed the devastated space around him. It seemed... this guy couldn't possibly let him off easily...

Fighting was definitely out of the question.

The Kaiju weapons they'd been so proud of were no different from toys in this giant's hands.

Running... also impossible.

Even if he tried to stall for time, he had no idea what the giant's activity limit was.

He raised his head, meeting the giant's calm, unreadable gaze. His heart wavered for two seconds.

Slowly, he spoke: "You're right."

"I'm not a Precursor. I don't belong to this world."

Hearing him confess so readily, Natsuki actually paused.

He'd encountered too many cunning aliens. He'd expected this guy to make up some excuse first to get him to let his guard down.

The Ultra Race was famous across the universe for their power, but the impression that truly resonated was their unimaginable kindness—something many civilizations found hard to comprehend. The vast majority of Land of Light residents were absurdly kind-hearted.

Even warriors newly joining the Space Garrison had difficulty shedding that naivety. Only warriors who'd undergone countless trials across the universe understood the darkness in hearts.

And Natsuki happened to be an experienced old hand.

The moment Yoki opened his mouth, he knew what kind of bullshit this guy was about to spew. He'd seen too many cunning villains.

What surprised him, though, was that this guy actually swallowed his words and chose to confess honestly.

"Smart choice," Natsuki said.

Since this guy was so sensible, things would be easier.

"Confess everything. What organization are you from? What's your purpose?"

Hearing this question, Yoki's eyes flickered.

This guy really was after the Travelers.

He knew some things could be said, while others... couldn't.

But—did he really have a choice right now?

He slowly let out a sigh. When he'd personally caused the first civilization's destruction, he'd already thought that perhaps someday in the future, he'd face retribution.

Though the system had forced his hand, the one who'd abandoned gentle methods and chosen extreme ones—experiencing the intoxicating power of dominating all things—was ultimately himself.

"Before that, can I ask one question?" Yoki asked, steeling himself.

He wanted to make one last struggle. He looked up at the giant.

"Ask," Natsuki said.

"What do you plan to do with me?" Yoki desperately wanted to know this answer.

"If you choose to resist, I'll eliminate you directly," Natsuki said.

He couldn't easily let Yoki go.

Because once he let this guy loose, it would absolutely lead to more lives being lost.

Facing vicious criminals, only newcomers who'd just joined the Space Garrison would show mercy. Experienced warriors all knew the price of carelessly releasing enemies.

"If you don't resist and cooperate honestly, you still have a chance to enter the Space Prison."

Either be executed on the spot, or be locked in Space Prison to enjoy a life sentence. These were the only two choices left for Yoki.

Perhaps some newcomers in the Space Garrison still harbored naive bleeding-heart attitudes, but Natsuki wouldn't.

"Space Prison?"

"What's that?" Yoki asked.

He didn't understand the Land of Light and didn't know what Space Prison was.

Though it didn't sound like anything good.

"Space Prison was originally a special prison our King used to imprison rebels."

"Later, due to certain circumstances, the Commander rebuilt it into a massive prison for holding the universe's most serious criminals. You'll spend the rest of your life there," Natsuki explained.

As he spoke, Natsuki unconsciously squeezed his right wrist with his left hand.

When that black bastard had escaped from the prison back then, it had caused a massive disaster for the Land of Light.

The later prison served partly to confine criminals, and partly to deter villains who thought the Land of Light was easy to break into.

"Prison, huh..." After hearing this, Yoki closed his eyes.

He seemed to have made a decision in his heart.

Then he spoke: "We come from a special space."

"Each carrying missions to different universes and different worlds, disrupting a world's original fate, then collecting Space-Time Source Energy. The abnormal space-time fluctuations you're tracking are most likely the fluctuations produced when Space-Time Source Energy is stolen..."

He spoke with resignation, his account matching the intelligence Ebert had provided.

"At first, when I was summoned into that space, I thought it was something like the 'Main God Space' from novels. But it wasn't."

"We could all sense that the space itself seemed to be plotting something."

"Though I never imagined this space would attract Ultraman's investigation... Life really is unpredictable."

"Anyway..."

As he spoke, his gaze toward the giant suddenly widened. He spread his four arms.

Shouting madly: "I will never be imprisoned!"

"Having tasted the power of dominating life, I will never become a prisoner!"

"Remember our name!"

"We are—Travelers!"

His words fell.

"BANG!"

His body suddenly exploded from within, as if triggering some switch. He died on the spot, his soul dissipating along with him.
