Chapter 31 - Additional chaos

The confidence that the three students exhibited vanished into nothingness the moment they saw Chuck waking up. The inferno of attack that cube projected towards him was supposed to be enough to kill him, but to their surprise, he survived. And not only did he survive, but he came out different — almost like an entirely different being made out of pure and condensed flames.

One slight movement from the pure immortal creature was released and the next second, they all saw Cube's headless body lying on the fine sand. No guts were spilled, no blood could be seen — it was almost like his head stopped existing that very second.

Chuck's eyes gazed at the system message, but somehow he didn't seem to comprehend what the translucent glowing screen was. It was like he was trapped in his own body, in a state of consciousness and unconsciousness.

Snart and pitch turned their heads to meet a horrifying version of cube laying motionlessly on the ground.

"Wha… what the fuck is this? Fuck the fuck!!!" Pitch yelled, almost pulling the hair from his head.

He ran forward, heading straight to the pure immortal creature as it stood with a menacing glare. Sparkles of electricity could be heard as a wave of pure lightning bolts appeared on his arms, swirling violently.

Pitch shot up in the sky, the lighting both seemed to rage even more, it spread from his arms to the entirety of his body. Shooting down with an intense speed, pitch unleashed the lightning bolts, disastrous thunderclaps reverberated violently as the soil vibrated in accordance.

The massive bolts of lightning rained down directly at the pure immortal creature. As the attack made contact with it, an explosive sound erupted, shaking the whole field violently. The lightning attack exploded as it made contact with the flames searing off the pure immortal being's body. The explosion was strong enough to push it off as the force lifted it off its feet, as it veered off into the distance.

The pure immortal creature rolled backwards on the sand, lifting up debris of dirt and soil. But as quickly as it fell, it stood up, strong. The creature's eyes, raging with a fiery golden flare, scanned the field, in search of the adversary that unleashed the electrocuting attack. The creature's gaze locked on a particular figure whose body was covered in blue bolts sparkling with energy.

The creature grunted, it lunged forward, heading towards pitch recklessly. It raised its hand, releasing a golden pulse of energy — the same attack used to kill Cube.

The flame-induced stream of energy traveled with speed, heading straight for pitch's chest, but pitch was ready. Taking a few steps back, he began gathering a torrent of water jets, as they vibrated violently between his palms. With a subtle movement, sparks of lightning blasted out of thin air, circulating the hovering water. The waft of ozone diffused across.

Pitch shot his hands forward, the water attack infused with lightning attributes exploded forward. The two attacks collided head on, creating an extremely deafening explosion sound. The grains of sand beneath them raised up in accordance, the dust reducing the visibility, making it hard for pitch to see the aftermath of the collision.

But amidst the whole chaos, pitch could see a golden beam of energy heading straight for him. It didn't seem to be as bright, but the golden beam was still accelerating in his trajectory. Pitch could immediately tell that his attack reduced the golden beam of attack to a degree, but it didn't completely disperse it.

The golden attack from the pure immortal being overwhelmed his attack, and it still continued head on towards pitch. At the very last second, Pitch moved out of the way, jumping sideways before the attack could reach him. He felt the heat coming forth from the golden beam scorch his skin slightly as he veered off, evading the attack.

A loud burning sound became audible, and when pitch turned around, he saw a huge chunk of the desert sand missing. He knew that if the attack managed to touch him even once, he would be dead.

The dust slowly started to settle, making their visibility clear enough to see the intense glow of the pure immortal creature. Snart advanced closer to Pitch, his being was covered in a mix of sweat and dust as he breathed heavily, not from engaging with the creature, but from the shock of having to witness the existence of a being made out of pure and golden flames.

"I don't really know how we're supposed to kill a creature that seems to be made of fire. I think we should make a run for it and tell the teachers," Snart said with a worried tone.

"The moment we turn our backs, we're dead. That thing killed Cube in the blink of an eye," Pitch said, still locking gaze with the immortal creature.

"We should fight, and try not to get killed. If I knew Chuck had this strange form, I wouldn't have agreed to go after..."

Pitch stopped mid-speech as he noticed something. The intense glow from the creature seemed to lessen, as though the creature was starting to grow weaker. If this was the case, then all Pitch and Snart needed to do was stall it long enough to let it die by itself.

"Hey Snart look," Pitch said, "is it just me, or is the creature's glow beginning to die down?"

"Maybe all we need to do to kill it, is do nothing at all."

But there was one variable that they didn't account for. The pure immortal creature blasted forward, using its fire attribute to launch itself, flying towards them. Before they could try to use their magic to conjure a counterattack, the creature was already next to them.

With a swift movement. It shot out an enormous golden beam that towered both Snart and Pitch. The golden attack consumed them whole, their screens echoed as the heat from the beam consumed their bodies whole till there was nothing left of them… not even a single hair strand.

The sand beneath vanished along with them, and the only thing left of them was the residue mana energy from their obliterated bodies.
