Chapter 25 - Chapter 25

Before logging into the holographic pod, Felix's holoscreen suddenly displayed a notification.

It was from a Holonet account he followed, which caught his attention.

Normally, minor news would only appear as a small red dot on his wrist interface, indicating a new update. But for the entire holoscreen to appear on its own it had to be something big.

He opened it to check:

[ Tierra Entertainment Splatoon: A Different Kind of FPS Gameplay!! ]

[ Shocking News: A New Game Called Splatoon Sparks Creativity!?]

[ How long has it been since we've seen new mechanics outside the founder of Solsphere Entertainment? ]

Felix blinked in surprise, realizing he'd forgotten one thing; being a game designer in this world was like being a doctor in his past life.

Any new designer who introduced something fresh and high-quality would instantly draw massive attention.

He had been so focused on making games that he'd completely forgotten about things like this game reviewers, journalists, and critics who sparked excitement across all generations.

Whether young or old, everyone followed gaming news here.

Even those already at retirement age still indulged themselves in holographic pods.

Unlike in his previous life, people here could stay strong and healthy long after retiring.

Curious, Felix clicked on one of the headlines at random.

[ Game Review: "Splatoon" – A Joyful Twist on the Shooter Genre ]

「 Splatoon delivers a refreshing take on first-person shooters for players of all ages. It's the perfect game for those who want the thrill of a shooter without the violence. Even kids as young as ten can dive in and enjoy it safely.

The game's cheerful atmosphere sets it apart from other FPS titles, and its distinct cartoonish visuals appeal to both children and adults. Instead of bullets, players use colorful ink to paint the environment, shifting the focus from combat to creativity. The mechanics are unique, engaging, and satisfying making "Splatoon" not only fun but also surprisingly affordable. It's a must try for anyone looking for something new and lighthearted in the shooter scene.」

Felix continued reading as the review described how Splatoon stood out from the usual blood filled and grotesque games on the market.

The difference was enormous.

Even though he wasn't the original creator of Splatoon, he couldn't help but feel happy for the people who were.

He admired their creativity, the planning, imagination, and execution it took to make something like that which must have taken years.

Scrolling further, Felix noticed a familiar name. Cecilya was streaming Splatoon, passionately recommending it to everyone.

For a moment, he almost thought she had been paid to promote it, though he knew that wasn't the case.

Smiling to himself, he made a mental note to give her something special once he finished his next game.

He was already planning to create Granny next.

Temple Run had earned him plenty of points at first, but over time, players became numb to it.

The fear energy he received now barely reached 4, 4, 4 — nothing like before. Thankfully, he had muted the system notifications.

It was like players became numb after playing horror games too many times.

The fear they felt at first slowly faded until it disappeared completely.

He still remembered the first time players truly experienced fear in his game; the rush of energy he felt was incredible.

Now, having tasted that power once, Felix wanted to explore horror games next.

Felix was in a daze for a moment when a bright light suddenly popped up above his head.

"I feel like I was supposed to do something… but I forgot what it was?" he rubbed his chin, thinking hard.

"What was it again?"

A high-pitched chirp sounded beside his ear.

[Host, you forgot to check out Shoot the Alien!]

The system, which had ignored him for days, finally spoke up. Felix, already used to its unpredictable behavior, brightened. "OHH!" His face lit up with an exaggerated expression. "Thank you, system!"

[You're welcome, you're welcome hehe!]

Felix narrowed his eyes. "You seem happy."

[Of course!] The system replied cheerfully, though it couldn't explain why.

Felix gave a wide grin, thinking it looked charming, but it actually looked terrifying. If the system had a body, it would have gotten goosebumps.

"…Is that so?" Felix muttered.

The system wanted to run away, but Felix didn't give it a chance. "System, I won't eat you, why are you so afraid?"

The system thought to itself, of course it would be afraid, only a fool wouldn't be!

[ What do you want… Why are you making that kind of face! (- -; ]

It tried to act tough, but its actions said otherwise.

A transparent blue screen popped up, and below the game section that had always been blank before, there was now a new category labeled:

「Fiction」

(It included everything from movies to anime and other creative media.)

Felix had a satisfied smile on his face, his wide grin fading into something more like a mother's gentle smile. "You really know me so well, System!"

He had been bored with the usual entertainment these past few days. Playing the same games over and over had lost its excitement, and he wanted to relax while watching movies without doing anything else.

Since the system he had was supposed to be an "Entertainment System," it made sense that movies, series, anime, and other media should be included too.

Yet for some reason, only games were available in the library. It puzzled him, especially when he clearly remembered the system agreeing before that it was designed for entertainment (From CH 1).

Felix scrolled through the movie section, but his finger froze mid-air when he saw the price.

He quickly closed the system window.

[ Fiction ]

"System, why the hell does Kpop Demon Hunter cost 500?!" he demanded.

Of all things, that was the movie he had wanted to watch before he died.

Even as a girl in his previous life, she hadn't been able to escape the pull of K-pop. And while Felix had never been romantic or interested in love, he still admired both women and men alike.

The system stayed silent for several minutes; then completely disappeared.

Felix: ...
