Chapter 2 - Conducting A Simulation!

After the teachers left, Adam took out his phone. He had felt it vibrate earlier when Aurora had left.

Just as he guessed, it was a message from Aurora. She'd left urgently for something at home but said she'd visit him later that night.

Adam chuckled slightly, already imagining the scene that would play out later tonight.

He made his way out of the school compound and onto the bustling street. After a few minutes, he spotted an empty taxi and waved it down.

"To Harbor Street," he said as he slid into the back seat.

"That'll be a dollar," the driver replied.

"Okay."

Adam lived in a one-bedroom apartment on Harbor Street. His parents and siblings lived farther away in the city. On foot, the trip home would've taken close to an hour, but the taxi would get him there in twenty minutes.

Settling into the seat, Adam pulled out his phone again, scrolling through it as the ride went on.

The ride was short, and soon Adam paid the fare and stepped out.

He entered his modest home, ate a quick meal, then sat upright on his bed.

It was time to find out what his ability could do.

"Life Simulator..." he called out softly.

Instantly, a blue luminescent panel appeared in front of his eyes.

[Life Simulator.]

[Function 1: Receive one free simulation weekly, to simulate alternate worlds and obtain the corresponding rewards.]

[Function 2: Receive one free simulation monthly to simulate your world. Retain the corresponding rewards.]

[Function 3: Paid simulation. Using mana stones, you can pay for simulations, and from these simulations you can bring objects from the simulation into the real world.]

[Number of simulations: 1]

Adam read through the description of the Life Simulator and was startled. He took a long while to comprehend the information displayed.

'Simulating life endlessly? What does that mean?' He was slightly startled and couldn't help but hesitate…

'I have one free simulation to explore an alternate world. I can only refresh a simulation next week. Should I use it or not?'

His hesitation lasted briefly before he shrugged. 'Might as well see what my ability does since I'm confused.'

With that thought, he smiled and said internally, 'System, I want to use the simulator.'

At his words, the system flashed briefly with a line of words…

[Please draw a talent.]

[There are currently 3 grades of talent available.]

[Red talent: 1 percent chance of being drawn.]

[Green talent: 9 percent chance of being drawn.]

[White talent: 90 percent chance of being drawn.]

'Huh? There's something like this?' Adam was stunned.

He raised his head briefly, then glanced at the three talents displayed.

[Arm Grip (White Talent): Enhances the grip of the user by 3 percent.]

[Debuff (White Talent): Causes the user to lose one year of lifespan every three years.]

[Genius (White Talent): Makes the user comparable to a genius from a small village.]

'Damn,' Adam cursed softly. He only glanced briefly at the other talents before making his choice.

'I choose Genius.' At a glance, one could already tell that Adam would never choose the white talent, Debuff. Then there was the other white talent, Arm Grip, he couldn't completely understand its effects, but it seemed pretty useless.

At least it wasn't comparable to the white talent, Genius.

The Life Simulator seemed to have accepted his request. It flashed briefly before a new line of words appeared in his line of sight.

[Please choose the alternate world you would love to simulate…]

[1. Xianxia Realm.]

[2. Ultra Fantasy.]

[3. Underworld.]

[4. Realm of the Forgotten.]

[5. High-Tech World.]

[6. Ancient Immortal Realm.]

[7. Dream Dimension.]

Glancing at the seven alternate worlds, Adam fell into deep thought. He raised his head and glanced at them again before lowering it, his eyes flickering with contemplation.

This was a very difficult choice. Which world should he choose?

After a long while of hesitation, Adam finally made a decision. He raised his head and glanced at the seven alternate realms.

"I choose the Ultra Fantasy world."

The reason for Adam's choice was simple, he felt that the Ultra Fantasy world might not be much different from his current one. With his decision made, the screen flashed once more, loading the information.

'What now?' Adam glanced curiously, waiting for what would happen next.

The system didn't leave him in suspense, and the next moment, a line of words began appearing in his line of sight.

[Age 0: You were born in the southern continent of the East Pavilion. At your moment of birth, you were abandoned and were picked up by a passing villager.]

[Age 1: The villager continued to nurse you, and you were gradually familiar with the villagers. Due to the enhancement of your white talent, genius, you were able to understand the language of the world quickly.]

[Age 2: Your body was slightly weaker than normal. You didn't know the cause and could only live in pain daily.]

[Age 5: The pain in your body worsened greatly, and you could hardly even move, constantly groaning in pain every day.]

[Age 5: After your abnormality was discovered, the village head sighed and told you that you had been targeted by the god, and you were to be the next sacrifice.]

[You were shocked and immediately refused; however, the village head grabbed you by the neck and threw you into the prison.]

[In the cell, you met other children like you, constantly groaning in place. You were filled with shock, and your heart was filled with bitterness.]

[Feeling your fate was already too cruel, you began displaying your talent. Over the years, you had already become an expert at literature thanks to your white talent. You hoped the village head would realize your gift and spare you.]

[You were hopeful the day the village head came and carried another person to be sacrificed. You were in the middle of reciting a poem; it sounded melodic, but the village head just glanced at you coldly and slapped you.]

[Your eyes widened, and before you could retaliate, the pain flared up. In the last moments of your life, you felt a terrifying presence gazing at you.]

[You died.]

"Damn!" Adam cursed aloud and took a moment to reread the information in front of him.

He now understood what a simulation talent actually was.

'So it's basically simulating the future, showing how my life would play out. If I had transmigrated into such a world, wouldn't I have died in the same fashion?'

Adam couldn't help but feel a weight settle in his heart.

'Fortunately, this talent is mine! With this talent, after simulating endlessly, there's no way I won't become invincible!' At the same time, a thought surfaced in his heart.

'I wonder what my simulation of this world would be like… Is there any coming danger?'

Adam glanced at the Life Simulator, curiosity filling his heart.

'It seems I'll have to wait for a month, or perhaps if I can do the paid simulation, I might be able to simulate my life in this world.'

Adam smiled wryly at the thought, then returned his gaze to the simulator. The line of words had changed.

[Please draw one reward.]

[1. Your strength in the simulated world.]

[2. White talent: Genius.]

[3. Knowledge of the Ultra Fantasy world.]

Adam glanced at the line of words for a while before making his decision.

'System, I choose…'
