"This is ridiculous," Ivan muttered, pulling at his collar.
I reached up and adjusted his glasses. "It's necessary. You're a Duke now. If the public sees your face, we'll be mobbed by people asking for autographs or trying to assassinate you. Probably both."
We stood in the shadows of an alleyway near the entrance to the Market District. It was the last weekend before the Azure Tournament, and we needed personal supplies that the Academy quartermaster didn't stock.
I used an oversized brown sun hat, a plain beige dress (instead of my usual combat gear), and fake reading glasses. I looked like a country librarian.
We had used a magical dye potion—temporary, of course—to turn Ivan's striking silver hair black. He wore a simple adventurer's tunic and a pair of round spectacles that Thomas had lent us.
He looked... completely different. Without the noble coat, he looked like a handsome, scholarly rogue. A very dangerous scholar.
