Maya's POV
"Robert Chen was in our yard." I show the security team the photo. "Today. While you were supposedly watching."
The head guard studies the image. "This was taken from the tree line. Outside our perimeter. He never actually entered your property."
"He got close enough! Close enough to photograph my children!"
"We'll extend the perimeter. Add more cameras. More guards."
"That's what you said last time. And the time before. How many threats do we need before you actually protect us?"
He doesn't answer. There is no answer.
Derek arrives with news. "Michael is awake. Wants to talk to us. Says it's important."
At the hospital, Michael looks better. Still bruised but alert.
"I remembered something," he says. "Right before the crash. I saw someone. Standing on the corner. Watching. He was smiling."
"Robert Chen?"
"I don't know what Robert looks like. But whoever it was, they knew the brakes would fail. They were waiting to watch me crash."
"Did you see their face?"
