Chapter 5 - The Tomb Of "Death"

Pov: General

Another two years have passed since our protagonist created the "Goddess of Origin" pathway, during which not much has happened.

The war is still just as intense, Hydra is still doing its thing, and the United States is not yet part of the war.

It could be said that between these last two years, the biggest changes were two things. The first is that a new wave of faith has occurred on the African continent.

Several different tribes began to worship a female figure they called "Mother," whom they say has control over plants and nature.

To be honest, all countries ignored this fact; they were more preoccupied with the war. Even Wakanda ignored this religion that came out of nowhere. They saw it as just another tribal religion, which they would eventually forget.

The second big change occurred in one of the many secret societies on the planet, the vampire faction to be exact, since they began to worship the Moon.

Something that, to be honest, In the eyes of the "Sorcerer Supreme," while it was certainly uncommon, she thought it was only to be expected, since she believed that, as a universe relatively far from the main one, such changes were common.

Not to mention that, to be frank, a cult that worshipped the moon wouldn't benefit anyone, not even that group of demigods living there, so she simply let it go, especially since this cult didn't invite any "External Entities."

On the part of the Moon God "Khonshu," he was more confused than the "Sorcerer Supreme," since, despite the fact that this cult claimed to worship him, he didn't feel any faith reaching him (yes, in his arrogance, he believed they were worshipping him, but not the "Moon").

And the last big change was that the protagonist was finally able to move on his own, something he decided to take full advantage of, since from then on, he started an exercise routine, began to speak normally, and, as expected, tried to kill his mother without her finding out. Once and for all

Although all those times he ended up failing for one reason or another, which, to be honest, made him suspect that "Death" wouldn't let him do it for the moment.

And he doesn't say this just because in his arrogance he doesn't want to accept that he was wrong, but because every time he failed, he did so in stupid ways, or because he forgot vital but simple details.

Things so simple that he himself knows, but ironically, at that moment, he conveniently forgot just exactly that tiny part.

Just so you know, his mother's name is Emily White, who, contrary to what many would expect, isn't as such interested in the protagonist. She only had him because her husband asked her to. But after his death, she decided that along with his death, the protagonist would also die.

Not in the literal sense, but simply reported him as dead, only to receive even more money from the compensation after his death. And surprisingly, it worked out well for her. Now the protagonist is completely nonexistent in the databases of the living.

How will she take care of him?, about his upbringing and all that? It's none of her problem. As far as she was concerned, the protagonist could actually die and she'd celebrate, but since she aren't an assasin, she has no choice but to keep his live a secret.

Or that was the plan, at least until her "son" reached the age of 4, when, as if it were karma, she's been on the verge of death more than once.

On her son's birthday, a stray bullet almost hit her. If it hadn't been for the wall covering her, she would have died.

Then there's the time she tripped while walking, not knowing what, and only just grazed an iron spike sticking out of the floor, almost piercing her head.

Then there's the time when, before cooking, she didn't realize the gas stove was on, and if it hadn't been for the smell, she would have blown herself up.

The most terrifying incident, ironically, happened that night. She dreamed that her son came into her room and tried to kill her in her sleep. that if it hadn't been for the fact that he tripped, he would have ended up achieving his death.

The protagonist isn't at all happy that "Death" prevented him from killing his fake mother, so, taking advantage of the fact that the date stated by his system had officially been completed, he would bring with him the Pathway that will allow him to act freely without being prevented from killing people.

"System"

★ "Tell me"

"Answer one thing, if a Pathway like "Eternal Darkness" or "Monarch of Decay" is brought into this universe, what will happen to "Death"?"

★ "As such, nothing, at least not instantly, given that each one represents death.

However, the higher the sequence of each of them, the more and more "Death" will abandon his work.

Although at a glance it would seem that she is simply taking a break, the reality is that her "very essence" is abandoning her in exchange for going with the one you choose."

"So once I bring both of them, "Death" will die, right?"

As he said this, a smile slowly formed on the protagonist's face, since even without confirmation, he already had the answer.

★ "You could say yes."

Once he heard this, his smile reached its peak, and with a macabre tone for a child his age, he said,

"In that case, I choose to bring the "Eternal Darkness" now. After all, I want her to start composing a short poem for the tomb of "Death" itself."

And while the protagonist is busy planning the death of a cosmic entity, said entity also watches the protagonist, but, contrary to what the protagonist would believe, she was worried about him.

You see, as such, she has been watching the protagonist shortly after his father's death, since, according to what she knew, the child was destined to reach her kingdom because of his mother.

After all, in a fit of rage, she decided to abandon him even as a baby, believing that someone would find him. However, that didn't happen, and instead, the mother decided to keep the child, but being a horrible mother to him.

This caused "Death," who was originally only curious about the changed destiny, to slowly develop an attachment to the protagonist. And after seeing how the poor boy was destined to die abandoned in an alley alone (or so she believed, since his name disappeared from her registry long before), she decided to change his destiny once again.

This time, preventing him from claiming the revenge he deserves, and she happily would give him permission. But she won't do it for his own good.

"Poor little boy,"

She said as she watched the protagonist laugh out of nowhere with a touch of madness, her face was filled with sorrow, almost as if a girl were watching a puppy cry.

"Not only is he vilely ignored by his mother, but he's even begun to fall into madness from loneliness.

Please be strong, little one. Hang in there for a few more years, and you can be rescued from that little hell."

She thought, turning to look at her mother, whom she knew would come to her in just three more years.

"Just a little more time"

And just like that, she decided to return to her duty, after all, his biggest have just send another gift with the form of the lives of half a planet population

"... Yeah ..., and I think I know how to make that happen more sooner that Her destiny said"

Where the words said from her once a plan was formed in her mind

*Meanwhile on Thanos*

It could be said he's in a good mood. Not only is he getting closer to completing his perfect plan to acquire the icy but welcoming heart of "Death" herself, but she even seems to like this gift even more, since he can feel her beginning to call him to her Kingdom.

"Will she finally recognize me?"

The Mad Titan thought, growing happier and happier, but to his deepest anger, as soon as he arrived at her Realm, he only heard the words that almost caused him to die of absolute rage.

"Thanos, a mortal has deeply offended me, for she has made a deal with a God of life, and now she has begun to influence the Realm to which you belong.

Not only does she risk breaking the balance between life and death, but because of that deal, I cannot claim her, since only a mortal can claim her life.

Her name is Emily white, and it's from Midgar, a planet from the realm of Asgard"

After hearing that, the Titan left that Realm directly, not because he no longer wanted to hear his absolute love and biggest obsession, but because of his rage he unconsciously broke the connection.

Once outside that place, and realizing what he had done, he exploded in such a rage that everyone on the ship heard his scream of pure hatred.

"HOW THE HELL DARE A FILTHY MORTAL INTERFERE WITH MY PERFECT GIFT TO MY LADY!

I'LL KILL HER!! I'LL DESTROY HER INSIDE AND OUT! SHE'LL REGRET EVEN EXISTING!

JUST WAIT UNTIL I HAVE YOU IN MY HANDS!!!"
