Chapter 43 - Chapter 43: Why is everyone surprised?

Tsuyu had her protective instincts reach a solid eight before the phone call occurred. Now that she listened to it in full, they rested at a soft fifteen. "Is everyone good?" Iruma asked as if they DIDN'T just survive a serial killer.

"Yeah, thanks to you, Iruma-kun! You really came when we needed you the most!" And Toru was being lovestruck as usual. Given the context they were just given, it was warranted just a little bit. If only they DIDN'T just fight a notorious villain.

"Last I checked he would have been cornered if I hadn't shown up." Todoroki's voice came through, not speaking ONCE during this whole bout of insanity. "Seriously, the phone wasn't enough. Do we need to put a bell on your or something?"

"My phone..oh right! The signal just came back!" Iruma grabbed a hold of his phone and it sounded like he was about to dial. " Huh, that's cool. Somebody's already on the other line. Hello?"

"Yes, this is Jiro." Responded the girl in question. "And I would personally like to say, WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK!?"

"Yeah, seriously man, what the fuck did you guys just do!?" Ojiro spoke up next. " I just got done with my training for the day, and suddenly the ENTIRE class gets a call and the first thing we hear is you confronting a murderer!"

"Wait, that was a class call button?" The boy asked. "I thought it was just Koda?"

"No, I got the call too. It's the reason why I showed up. Endeavor would have to but he got stuck dealing with the Nomu." THERE WERE NOMU!?

"There are MORE of the brain guys from the USJ!?" Mineta freaked out.

"Oh yeah, that was actually why I called first, one picked me up but I couldn't talk to him." She realized Todoroki had a point about that bell. "Hey, is Koda there?"

"He's listening, but he's a bit busy becoming king of the forest right now." Kaminari asked in a tired and exhausted tone, the tone that SHOULD'VE belonged to the group of crazies at the moment.

"Oh, when he comes back, ask if he can speak 'brain person'." Probably not, because that was insane.

"Seriously Iruma, are you okay? I heard somebody try to kill Stain first." She got the conversation back to the original topic.

"I … I am sorry everyone." They heard the voice. "Stain harmed my brother and I chased after him for revenge. No one would have been in danger if it wasn't for my recklessness. I should have told you what was going on."

"Save the speeches, Glasses! You still owe me a match!" Bakugo yelled into the phone.

"Wait, Bakugo listened this whole time without hanging up or rushing on his own?" Kirishima asked.

"Of course I didn't! If glasses died I wouldn't be able to kill him myself!"

"Aww, Bakugo, you ARE a good friend." No, he wasn't Iruma.

"Bakusquad for life!" Ashido cheered from somewhere.

"Okay, so everybody in class is listening in?" Toru asked. "These calls aren't recorded, right? It's just you guys that know?"

"No, I saw no point in recording these calls." Yaoyarozu stated. "... Well besi des the government, but they record every call."

"I'm pleased to hear that you and your companions were spared from the wrath of that heathen, my angel. Truly the lord has worked his mercy tonight." Huh, guess Ibara was with one of them.

"Super manly!" Kirishima and Tetsutetsu cheered out.

"Thank you everyone." She could hear the boy smile. "I'm just happy to be alive … hey what's the red and blinking battery in the top right mea-" The call was disconnected.

"... You're a moron, Iruma." She put away her phone, sighing as she went to grab a mop. An innocent moron, but a moron nonetheless.

"So do we take his knives?" Hagakure asked. "I know it's all evidence and evil but … one or two should be fine right?"

"They all have human blood on them, they would be dirtied beyond practical use." Todoroki deadpanned.

"But if we clean it really well, that's a free kitchen knife." Suzuki added in.

Iida watched as his classmates, his friends, argued over the practicality of robbing an unconscious serial killer. Normally he would have reprimanded them but … that would be hypocritical at this point. "We detain and restrain him. Get rid of his weapons and tie him up before the pros arrive."

"I have some capture tape on me." Todoroki reached into one of his costume pouches, taking some out. "Hagakure, help me. Iruma, you check on Native with Iida."

"Got it." The boy walked over, but Iida had something to do first.

"I'm sorry." He spoke, keeping contact with Suzuki as they made their way to the unconscious hero. "I let revenge get the best of me, and you all almost paid the price. I don't know how to atone."

"You're not dead, right?" Suzuki responded right away. "That guy was crazy. I think you being alive is enough. You don't have to do anything else." He said those words as if it was just that simple. As if it could all be swept away under the rug.

"Don't try to complicate it, Iida. I've spent the past few days trying to get you to calm the f down." Hagakure overheard them. "I'm just glad you're still breathing after tonight, because I'd like to forget about most of it."

"Besides, it was revenge for your brother right?" Todoroki put in his own two cents. "I understand, I would have done the same if he harmed my mother or siblings as well."

Could it really just be that easy? He had to wonder if his class was saints or just genuinely insane. But he must respect them all the same. "Thank you." He bowed, tears coming out of the corner of his eyes. "Thank you very much."

Manual tried to hold back the absolute monster, or monsters since there were now two of them. The 'Nomu' were highly resistant to attacks and somehow had a large variety of quirks available to them. He didn't even understand how that was physically possible. Science was still trying to get a hold on how quirks worked, transfer on this scale shouldn't be possible.

It was times like this that made him question his approach as a hero. Was he really doing enough? His quirk had limits, but surely he could've found a way to make it stronger. Damn it, if he couldn't even keep track of his own interns during a time of crisis, what could he possibly do here?

With a roar, the Nomu came after him. So this was it … this was how he died. Well he had a good life at the very least. Manual just hoped he bought enough time for civilians to evacuate. Or for the blur of white to send the creature into the side of a building.

"LUNAR SPEAR!" The figure stood tall afterwards, revealing it to be Miriko. He knows she never really had a set patrol or agency, but it was still surprising to see her so far out here, though he wouldn't complain about it now.

"Kit! Where are you?! Damn it brat, where did you run off to!" The beast got up, running right back at her. "Durable bastard aren't you!?" She shouted, preparing to attack again.

Then the beast was enveloped in a spray of fire. "So you're here too." Holy fuck, Miriko AND Endeavor in the same city? At this point he just felt irrelevant. "Let me guess, you're so incompetent at training others you managed to loose your intern?"

"I did not lose my Kit! He just...disappeared when we were riding on top of the train over here."

"That is the definition of losing him." The Nomu stood straight, looking as fresh as it started.

"Hey, last I checked, you're brat isn't here either!" Miriko kept her eyes on Endeavour as she planted another kick across the monster's chest.

"I LET my son run off. We ran into a Nomu and his friend was in danger of the Hero Killer." Endeavor followed with a pile of flames.

"Oh, so you let your son face a notorious killer on his own without supervision. Great parenting you're showing."

"Said friend is Suzuki, you know." Like that a switch was flicked, kicking the beast's arm off.

"Then hurry the fuck up! We can't just let them-" She was cut off as the creature grew a new arm, punching her back a few feet. "Alright, starting to see the problem here. Endy, we need some charcoal!"

"That we can agree on." The man charged forwards and grabbed the beast's head, focusing all of his flames until it was nothing but a fleshy goo. "It seems carbonized cells can't regenerate. I don't see how this creature matched All Might's strength. "

"That's just science you moron, stop trying to be dramatic!" The second Nomu ran in the direction of it's fallen comrade. "Wait a minute …" She ran up to the beast and jumped high. "LUNA ARC!" She swung her foot down, straight into the creature's brain. "Guess being brain-dead is more than an expression for these guys."

"We're wasting time. Let's find the other two and reach our interns before anything terrible happens."

"For once, you actually make sense." Manual looked back, seeing how he was no longer needed for the fight. He'll take out as much of the fire as he could around the buildings and follow the two once they are done. Something told him Iida already found the killer.

them all! I'll run the streets red with the blood of all you hypocrites!"

"Hey, we beat you up before!" Toru shouted. "Now we have two pros, just stand down you crazy!"

"I will not lose." Iruma felt pressure. It wasn't the normal kind of danger, it wasn't even the normal kind of bloodlust he felt from animals. It was something refined, something spiteful. "I will not fall here to the unworthy." The man walked through the flames as if they did not bother him. Because he couldn't be stopped. "There is only one man worthy, only one on the planet!" They were filthy pieces of garbage about to fall to the ground from the single blade. "ALL MIGHT IS WORTHY!!" Death Death Death Death.

The man stopped in his tracks, and no one dared to move. Five minutes passed, and they were all afraid to move a single muscle. The one thing Iruma was sure of that night was that this man craved death, and he had nothing but his own sheer determination to avoid it.

Tomura watched as the last of his Nomu was killed, and the Hero Killer was taken into custody. "So we didn't cause much damage, two top ten showed up, now the bastard lives." This was not his night at all. "The only upside is watching that maniac lose his shit with Iruma."

He glimpsed parts of that fight occasionally, mostly whenever the duel stalled and the kid would say something that got under the man's skin. That and seeing the guy not ever come close to hurting one highschooler was something he'd treasure after tonight.

"The copters are coming close." Kurogiri idly stated. Tomura saw cameras aimed at the expense of the city, trying to take in the destruction to feed the masses.

"Why, what do you have, Hero Killer?" He asked out loud. He was a blind worshiper, taking out whatever pissed him off. Even Iruma called him out, calling his self-crusuade stupid. "You're just killing what annoys you. Why do you have respect? Why do even the top of the food chain fear a little man like you?"

"I believe he had a knife." … He turned with a dead stare at Kurogiri. "Sorry, slipped out."

"If you weren't my ride, I'd turn you into dust." He rolled his eyes. He thought he would at least get some sort of clarity tonight, but he was left even more confused. "Warp us back, Kurogiri. There's nothing else we can do."

He looked back at the ground, watching the only one of them who understood the world like he did walk to an ambulance with Miriko. Another bunny. Probably gave her a ridiculous nickname too. He would have to ask about it the next time they met.
