The arrow took more than long enough to reach her skull, which left her in doubt. She unwillingly removed her hands from in front of her face to see that the arrow hung motionless in the air in front of her. She looked at the demon with their face covered with a glorious water-like veil, most probably a liquid organza, but it turned out to be in a space fabric.
"I am not that small-minded to try and kill you when I already know your intentions. I could already tell that you were planning on having the dragon work by your side when you tried to take it down the first two times, but it seems you had no choice but to kill it each time it tried to cause fatal harms in you, I guess I shouldn't have judged you earlier." The demonic voice told Aefia.
Due to her intense trust issues, Aefia decided not to let her guard down thinking it was a trap. She clenched her knife even more tightly while staring at the demon where her eye was supposed to be. It was said that they got more uncomfortable when they are stared at their eye. That was because, most of the time, they felt like their cat-like pupil was a thing of hate for humans.
"You have got to be kidding me, do you really not believe me? And how is it possible that you stare into my eyes when they are already covered? It's not like you can see it and poke them out. But if you are able to do such a thing, I will become your servant." The demoness spoke due to the awkwardness. Aefia remained silent for a long time while continuing to stare at the demoness without moving her position.
"Are you aware that you aren't really causing any sort of impact with that death stare? Just admit it, you can't see my eyes." The demoness said with an annoyed expression in her voice.
"And my question to you now, are you even aware that I own the Wolf element? If not, why not go and do a quick research before speaking about my uncomfortable death stare that is causing you to keep your one eye shut? If you are too lazy to research then I will just have to break it down for you." Aefia spoke after a long time with a smile on her face.
"What? That element is a demonic one, yes I know that. But is there anything special about it? As far as I know, it is one of the most useless element out of the other fourteen your teammates have. The only thing you know is how to predict the future, right?" The demoness answered with pride in her voice.
Aefia gave a dissapointed facial expression to the demoness. "Yes, I know that I am right. Now don't get so dissapointed about the matter." The demoness spoke with her pride still intact. Now let's see who is more proud of themselves for their knowledge.
"Yes, I am dissapointed. But not the reason you are probably thinking about." Aefia spoke and the demoness's smile vanished in an instant. "My Wolf element grants me the power to see through any object. So I am not only seeing your eyes, but I can see your eye hollow. I have got to say, I petty that you can even see with those tiny pupils of yours. Now if you are willing to conclude this conversation here, I believe I have some other matters to deal with." Aefia took a step forward to represent that she was ready to leave.
"Wait! We are not done here. I am supposed to kill you, if you even dare to leave without fearing me, I will slit your throat in a way you will never be able to join it again. Save least for your friends trying to heal you." The demoness shouted towards Aefia.
"Look old lady, don't expect me to take your advice and start a war. I am definitely not willing to take down the right handman of the demon king and leave him out of defense for the rest of his life. I have already heard enough rumors that the demon king is currently suffering in power so he asked for help from the Torture Cell and he is currently hugely in dept towards the Torture Cell because of the confidential deal that had made. If you choose to fight me, I will make sure the demon king suffers eternally." Aefia answered with a straight face.
The demoness was taken aback and kept silent. Seeing this, Aefia continued to speak about how irrational the demon king was. "I believe the so-called demon king has already told you to avoid killing me if I had grown in power from the last time. And honestly, my answer to that will be, am I not allowed to grow in power at whatever pace I want? So what if I am stronger than the demon king, does that change anything? I am not even from this dimension and he can't just ruin whatever plan I want to pursue."
"You know, you could keep your mouth shut for at least five minutes until I-..." The demoness spoke but Aefia raised her hand to signal her to stop speaking. "I haven't given you the permission to speak just yet. And I prefer we have an eye level conversation, otherwise, I will have to grab you down and pin you to the ground."
Immediately in response to the order given by Aefia, the demoness got down and turned a human size while bowing for a split second to refuse her from giving further orders. Seeing this, Aefia smiled politely and got the demoness standing upright by grabbing her in the shoulder.
The demoness shoke off Aefia's hand upon interaction. "I am sorry, but humans can turn into a demon if they touch another demon. I don't want to fall into any more trouble to you. You are already a judgemental person." The demoness moved a couple of steps back and away from Aefia.
"If you are willing to have the conversation from a distance, I am fine with it. But you have some severe hearing issues, I will not tolerate it. Do you understand? Otherwise, I will make it harder for you to do so." She answered in anger, as a sign that if the demoness doesn't listen to Aefia like the way she wants her to, it will be double trouble.
"I have followed your doings in this dimension a couple of times already. I am not playing your games because I know what you do afterwards. If you attempt anything, I will have the demon king aware of your acts." The demoness answered back.
"What?! You want to play a game? Alright! Then let's play a game! What do you want to play? You know what? Let me think about a game where the odds are also considered a winning mark." Aefia faked having hearing issues. The demoness stepped closer, considering that she had no choice otherwise the girl in front of her would scheme a new and forbidden move.
"Now the rule of the game will be as follows. Each person has to tell a truth about the demon king that they know for every question asked from the other person. If you don't want to speak about the demon king, why not speak about the Torture Cell?" Aefia asked as a test to see if mentioning the term 'Torture Cell' would harm them in any ways.
"We are not allowed to speak or sell any sort of information about the Torture Cell. If you know any names, I am afraid I will have to kill you immediately. The Torture Cell is a secret organizations consisting of the most powerful leaders of this universe. So any wrong that I do, I will be vastly punished because the demon king, as you said, is currently working for the Torture Cell."
"Doesn't the Torture Cell have a way to detect if any of you are secretly selling informations to the public? If the demon king does that, don't you think the Torture Cell does the same? What if the demon king got the idea from Torture Cell themselves?"
The demoness frowned. "I am afraid you have a huge point in that part. But as a lowly ranked slave, I have no rights to suspect the Torture Cell of doing such a thing. Because if I am done something wrong, the demon king will be hurt in bad ways and I will be killed. That's, in short, how powerful the Torture Cell really is. That's the most information I can give you. I am sorry if it isn't adequate enough for whatever mission you are currently working on. Now please let me go, I believe the demon king is waiting for his lunch. I still haven't done my days worth of hunting yet." The demoness began to walk away. "Wait. Not so fast. You still have a few things left to say." Aefia stopped the demoness in time by stepping on her veil to prevent her from walking.
"Do you really think I am letting you go like that after you instinctively chose to shoot me in the head with an arrow? Not only once, twice, but almost three times. So you think I have no rights to compensate your doings? I believe you already know that in the demon realm, they have punishments for anyone who kills someone in the previous life. Well, although I know you helped me move back in time, I believe those were also considered lives, weren't they?"
The demoness held the fabric in place and turned around. She came closer and pointed a crowbow at Aefia's head before saying. "Remove your dirty shoe soles from my veil, otherwise I will shoot you and dissappear that instant. That way, you will die eternally in this dimension and will not be able to move back into the dimension you came from."
Aefia broke the arrow with her hand and told the demoness. "Trying shooting me now. You don't have any extra arrows with you. Now that you are left defenseless, I think it is time for me to execute you in my place. You have actually sold me a huge amount of information about the Torture Cell earlier. You are sure to die if you return to the demon king's side this instant."
Knowing that she had lost, the demoness lowered the weapon from Aefia's forehead and Aefia released the veil she was stepping on. "Firstly, I am sorry for 'accidentally' ruining and soiling your veil. Don't worry, it is washable, right? Oh wait, now I remember. The space fabric can't be washed, sorry."
The demoness got mad and raised her hand to place a sudden attack. A portal appeared from on top of the demoness's hand position and that portal soon multiplied into a hundred more. Every single portal was pointing down at Aefia from every position and she could see spears made of colourful, holographic glass, was caught poking out from the portals.
Aefia stood her ground firmly and shealthed her knife before putting it back into her hoodie's pocket. She noticed Helio and her lady staring at her with shock and intimidation upon noticing the spears sticking out. Aefia gave a reassuring sign to the both of them and looked towards the direction of the dragon. Noticing that the dragon's flames were slowly returning, she turned back towards the demoness and stared at her distorted face.
Great, she will fade soon enough if she launches all the spears at once towards my direction. My only task here, is to dodge it. If I manage to survive this battle, I have two things by my side, the demon king's right handman and the chimera dragon who I will make sure to respect me and my choices.
The demoness gave a more stern smile towards Aefia when she noticed a more sincere smile coming from her. She immediately dropped her hand down in front of her, triggering a movement like a thousand threads were tied to her fingers with the spearheads and the thousand threads tied around Aefia when they were pulled by the demoness.
The spears fell towards Aefia and she looked at the first spear which plummeted towards her. The spearhead reached her, time seemed to slow down and a movement as swift as a mice, occured from behind her. Suddenly, the space around her went dark and a few rays of light still managed to penetrate through the small holes among the wall which blocked the spears form reaching Aefia.
"How is it so that you have already baptized that orange flamed chimera dragon to protect you! You are just a mere human who abruptly departed from Earth and has her family members worrying about her constantly!" The demoness shouted with grave dissapointment in her voice.
The chimera dragon moved its wings away from Aefia and stood behind her with its wings spread apart with grace and loyalty. Aefia, who didn't move from her original position, stood with a serious smile plastered to her backstabbing face. "I may have been a bit dumb to try and think that I had the ability to take you down, but I am always prepared for the worst case scenarios, believe it or not."
She pointed towards the demoness, who was already exhausted and tried to limp her way to safety. There was still one more spear sticking out from one of the portal which she pointed to after a short while. "Launch me towards the spear first. Then, don't let the demoness run away. If you see clearly, she has the scared key."
The dragon looked towards the demoness and noticed a faint gold glow coming from the fabric Aefia had previously stepped on. The dragon held Aefia by her hood and swung her towards the spear. Aefia held the spear by its handle as the dragon stopped right in front of the demoness. She then threw the spear, midair, towards the demoness and it fell in front of the demoness which blocked her from moving her way out in the other direction. Aefia fell on the ground with her knees almost giving upon impact with the ground.
