Chapter 19 - Chapter: Overwhelming Power

Chapter: Overwhelming Power

Stand back! Time to show off!

Ivennie didn't know magic. Cheng Yu told her to stand back—he'd handle these men himself.

Gripping the hilt of her greatsword with both hands, Mina's eyes filled with vigilance.

"Kill that man, and bring the orc and elf back to Master Dewitt!"

At the command, the first-tier mage in the group took the lead.

Magic power condensed at the tip of his staff, the light dazzling. After a few seconds, a mysterious circular white magic array appeared at the staff's tip.

First-tier magic: Ice Spike!

Whoosh~ Whoosh~ Whoosh~

The magic staff in his hand turned into an ice Gatling gun. A barrage of ice spikes shot out from the magic array, flying toward Cheng Yu and the others at high speed.

Mina was furious. Holding her greatsword, she rushed to Cheng Yu and used the broad blade to block the ice spike attack.

Ding~ Ding~ Ding~

Each ice spike was about the size of a finger. They struck the sword with crisp metallic sounds.

Though the sword blocked some of the spikes, others still hit Mina—tearing her clothes, piercing her skin. Blood flowed.

Cheng Yu pulled Mina behind him. "You don't need to block for me. This level of attack can't hurt me."

"But..."

Mina knew Cheng Yu was strong, but when she saw those people attacking him, she couldn't help rushing over to protect him. She had an instinctive desire to protect Cheng Yu.

The loyalty of canines was unquestionable.

Cheng Yu touched Mina's ears affectionately. It took wolves 10,000 years to evolve into dogs. Mina had saved at least 10,000 years of evolution.

"Go protect Ivennie. I won't get hurt."

The ice spike barrage continued for over ten seconds. The spikes hit his body one by one—like a massage. Not only did it not hurt, it was actually a bit comfortable.

His flesh resisted the ice spike magic.

Cheng Yu's clothes were shredded into a sieve, but his body wasn't bleeding. He was completely unharmed.

"What?! Ice spike magic is ineffective against him?!"

"With such strong physical defense, could this man be a second-tier warrior?!"

"I know all the second-tier warriors near Snow City. He's definitely not a second-tier warrior!"

Fear crept into the hearts of the dozen men.

A second-tier warrior's strength far surpassed a first-tier warrior's.

If their opponent was second-tier, all of them combined couldn't beat him.

After shaking the ice chips off his body, Cheng Yu rolled his wrists, grinned, and flashed a malicious smile. "Hehe. Today, none of you are getting away."

This guy's a monster!

Everyone realized the severity of the situation.

But to complete the mission, they had no choice but to grit their teeth and charge at Cheng Yu with weapons raised.

Like a tiger entering a flock of sheep.

Cheng Yu rushed forward and knocked one man down with a single punch. With overwhelming strength, he cut through them like slicing cucumbers—one kid at a time.

Screams echoed through the woods.

Some were stabbed through the heart. Some had their heads severed. Some had their spines chopped. One after another, they fell into pools of blood.

In less than three minutes, over a dozen men had all been hacked to death by Cheng Yu.

Blood stained his clothes. Cheng Yu had practically turned into a blood-soaked demon.

Cheng Yu wiped the blood off his knife with the corner of his clothes and glanced at the last first-tier mage.

The mage's face turned the color of a pig's liver. He turned and ran toward the woods on the side of the road.

Cheng Yu didn't chase him. Instead, he used the Silver Wolf Clan's innate skill: [Silver Moon Shockwave]. He raised his right hand. Magic power condensed in his palm, wrapping it in white energy.

After a short charge, he thrust his right hand forward.

A half-meter-long crescent-shaped energy shockwave flew out and struck the fleeing first-tier mage.

Bang!

Skin tore. Blood dripped.

The mage's back exploded. Even the bones beneath the skin and flesh were visible.

With a weak breath, he begged for mercy. "Please... spare me. I was wrong."

"Hehe. If I couldn't beat you, would you spare me?"

Without mercy, Cheng Yu raised his blade and finished off the first-tier mage with one strike.

Ivennie stood frozen. Cheng Yu's killing really wasn't much different from slaughtering chickens.

Cheng Yu picked up the mage's magic staff.

Then he searched through the dozen-plus corpses and found a total of 5 gold coins, 22 silver coins, and 166 copper coins. A small gain.

He returned to Ivennie and Mina.

Seeing Cheng Yu covered in blood, Ivennie looked a bit frightened.

Cheng Yu tossed the magic staff to Ivennie. "Some people look for death. I don't mind giving them a ride."

Ivennie nodded. Those people really had been looking for death.

The carriage continued forward and returned to Bailu Town.

When passing a stream, Cheng Yu asked the driver to stop. He jumped into the water, washed the blood off his body, then changed into a fresh set of clothes.

Bailu Town was over a hundred kilometers from Snow City.

After a day and a night, the carriage arrived at Bailu Town.

At the manor, Maxi and Austin sat at the stone table beneath a tree, leisurely drinking tea.

"Cheng Yu, why are you back so soon?"

Seeing Cheng Yu return, Maxi's tone carried slight disappointment.

"You don't seem to want me back so soon?"

That's not very reasonable.

Maxi had given Cheng Yu a hundred gold coins just to taste the food here. The earlier Cheng Yu returned, the sooner he could eat.

Maxi pinched the fat on his waist. "It's not that I don't want you back earlier. I lost five or six pounds in the few days you were gone."

Maxi was conflicted. He wanted to lose weight and eat Cheng Yu's cooking. It was too difficult. (Covers face and cries.)

"Hehehe, Brother Maxi, you'll never lose weight successfully with me around."

What bad intentions could Cheng Yu have?

He just wanted to make more delicious food to make customers happy.

Shock filled Maxi's heart.

He suddenly realized Cheng Yu might be his lifelong nemesis on the road to weight loss.

"Who's this?"

Maxi looked at Ivennie beside Cheng Yu. She had long elf ears—clearly an elf. Her long green hair marked her as a forest elf.

"The slave I bought in Snow City. Her name is Ivennie Lindsay," Cheng Yu introduced.

"Cheng Yu, you're so energetic. One orc isn't enough, so you had to add an elf? Don't work yourself to death."

At that moment, Maxi looked at Cheng Yu with the eyes of a lecher.

To avoid being considered a pervert, Cheng Yu clarified. "I bought this elf mainly to help with chores."

"We're all men here. You don't have to hide it." Maxi had seen through everything.

"Hehe~"

Cheng Yu smiled.

Mina and Ivennie were very useful. Not only could they help make buns, they could also wash clothes, fold quilts, clean, weed, carry on the family line, run errands and buy groceries...

"Mr. Austin, Ivennie doesn't know any magic. Could you teach her one or two spells?"

Cheng Yu had originally planned to buy a magic book, but realized there were two mages at the manor. He could have them teach Ivennie magic and save a lot of money.

"What do you think?"

Austin set down his teacup and looked at Maxi.

He was Maxi's personal magic tutor. Whether he could teach others depended on Maxi's opinion.

Maxi was generous. "No problem. Teaching one is teaching. Teaching two is also teaching."

With Maxi's permission, Austin nodded slightly and looked at Ivennie. He sensed the powerful magic within her. "The forest elves are very talented."

Among all races, elves had the highest magic talent. Forest elves were especially skilled in plant magic.

"Hello. My name is Austin. I can teach you two types of plant magic," Austin said to Ivennie.

Ivennie walked up to Austin and bowed in thanks. "Thank you, Teacher Austin."

"These two magic books—one is plant growth magic, the other is vine magic. Both are first-tier spells. First, familiarize yourself with the basic structure of the two magic array patterns."

Austin pulled two thick magic books from his portable magic pouch and handed them to Ivennie.

"Okay!"

Ivennie was overjoyed. She finally had the opportunity to learn magic.
