The room went quiet for half a second.
Then the men erupted into laughter again. Loud, mocking laughter that echoed across the billiards room and bounced off the leather sofas and polished wood panels. Their amusement only grew until they noticed Adrian's expression. The anger straightening his posture. The pride puffing his chest.
"Come on then," Adrian said, voice slick and cocky. "Let's bet on it. Even a sheltered little aristocrat like Nova Hart must still beg for cock."
The laughter died down into a stunned silence. One of his friends stared at him, then grinned and slapped a hand on the table.
"I am putting down ten million dollars that you cannot do it, Vale."
"Oh?" Adrian said, lifting his head.
"You know what, hell, me too," another man chimed in, tossing his chips onto the table.
"Come on now, that is a huge amount of money we are talking about," one of them said more cautiously.
