Chapter 7 - Chapter 7: The Tiger of West Middle

Half a month later, during club activities, Arashi looked rather free because he hadn't joined any club. Precisely because he had no club, many people tried to recruit him, and Arashi felt a little troubled.

The same thing had happened at previous club events: although he hadn't joined any club, there were still plenty of people coming to invite him.

And the clubs that invited him were all sorts of bizarre ones.

Like Weather Observation Club, Social Interaction Club, Track and Field Club, Vocal Music Club, Computer Engineering Club, Student Council.

But Arashi didn't want to join any club, so today he secretly avoided those people and wandered the school by himself, walking until he came to a quiet corridor on campus.

"About to start, you know."

"You ready?"

At that moment Arashi heard voices coming from a nearby door, 'Isn't that Itadori Yuji's voice?'

"Sasaki-senpai, Iguchi-senpai!"

"All right, start. Dog fox, dog fox, tell me, what animal is the student council president most afraid of?" [T/N: They are from occult club]

"Uhm… sea… wasp…"

"Hahaha! It's a sea wasp? Lame!"

Hearing that voice, Arashi suddenly snapped to attention, 'This is entering the main plotline, isn't it? Looks like something big is going to happen today.'

"Arashi of Class One, you're not joining any club activities. What are you doing here alone?", a flat voice sounded behind Arashi.

He turned, saw the newcomer, and smiled, "Oh, so you're the Marine Biology Club president. I'm just wandering around."

"Although you're a freshman I won't say much, but club activities are important for you, so I hope you'll participate. Even if you don't like any particular club you can just pick one. Of course, you're welcome to join our Biology Club," The Marine Biology Club president didn't wait for Arashi to reply; after speaking he pushed up his glasses and walked to the end of the corridor.

Seeing that, Arashi knew what would happen next, so he headed straight for the school athletic field, 'Looks like I need to act early.'

Passing by the stadium, Arashi saw Fushiguro Megumi in a white shirt and thought to himself, 'Sure enough.'

Fushiguro also noticed Arashi at that moment. At first glance there was nothing special about Arashi, he only looked relatively tall for someone his age.

But after paying closer attention he felt something strange, though he couldn't say what exactly. After all, there was no cursed energy on Arashi, 'So what is attracting my attention?'

Fushiguro drew his gaze away and continued walking ahead; he had to find that Special-Grade cursed object as soon as possible, or else things would get troublesome.

From the current situation, the cursed object had already loosened. If they didn't find it soon, what would happen would be hard to predict.

Arashi didn't intend to greet Fushiguro. He found a spot at the athletic field and sat down. Before long he heard shouting nearby.

"Come quick, come quick, Takagi from the Track Club and West Middle's tiger Itadori are going to compete."

"Huh? What are they competing in?"

"Shot put, shot put."

As the news spread, many people nearby rushed to the field to watch the exciting contest.

Takagi was already there; he cracked his neck, picked up a shot put from the ground, rubbed it in his palm, then took his stance, "Itadori, watch closely."

Whoosh!

Takagi pushed forward with force; the shot put instantly traced an arc and landed on the grass.

The measurer ran over and called out loudly, "Fourteen meters!"

"Ha!", Takagi shouted excitedly. Fourteen meters was one of his better recent results, a surprisingly good performance.

"Let's see how you compare now," Takagi said confidently as he looked at Itadori Yuji, who appeared unruffled.

"So skilled, Takagi. Still got it in you."

"Itadori, you think you can do it or not?"

"Itadori! Go, go!"

Itadori Yuji lifted an eyebrow, and amid the surrounding noise walked to where Takagi had stood. He took the shot put, then asked Takagi, "Hey, can I just throw it however I want?"

"Yeah, there's no formal rule judging this, throw however you like…", Takagi pressed a hand to his forehead, proud, "Sorry, choosing a non-specialty event for you is to convey my sincerity…"

Whoosh!

BANG!

Takagi's words hadn't finished when he froze in place. While he was still speaking, Itadori Yuji had already thrown the shot put, and the result was unimaginable.

He stood there looking like a clown, his mind suddenly blank.

The measurer jogged over, looked where the shot had landed, it was embedded in the soccer goal frame, and after scratching his head said, "Uh… about thirty meters."

"Thirty meters?"

"My God, what strength is this? That must be beyond the world record, right?"

"The world record is only 23.12 m; this is almost 30 m, do you think it broke the world record?"

The surrounding students were speechless with shock; each looked at Itadori Yuji as if he were a monster. No wonder he was called the Tiger of West Junior High.

Arashi, sitting nearby, also felt quite stunned. To be able to throw a shot put nearly thirty meters by one's own power, that kind of strength was terrifying.

Even the confident Arashi wouldn't claim his own strength could surpass Itadori Yuji, though given Arashi's current power, surpassing Takagi wasn't a problem.

"Yohoo, I win!", Itadori Yuji shouted happily.

Arashi stood, patted his trousers, glanced at Sasaki, and headed out of the classroom. School would be out soon; he wasn't in a hurry to go home today because he had something important to do.

"Arashi, going home together?"

The dismissal bell rang, signaling the end of today's classes and that it was time to go home.

Arashi glanced at Yamano Momoe and smiled apologetically, "Sorry, I have something to take care of today, so I won't walk home together."

"Oh, okay. Then I'll go home first…", Yamano Momoe grabbed her bag and fled the classroom; once outside her face flushed red, whether from shyness or anger, no one knew.

Actually Momoe had invited Arashi several times to walk home together because she'd discovered their homes were not far apart and it would be on the way.

They had gone home together before, and since they were deskmates Momoe thought naturally they could walk home together. But being repeatedly refused by Arashi left her looking displeased. Girls care about face, after all.

Arashi didn't want to be like that either. He could have walked home with her today, but he had something important to handle, so there was no choice.

After Momoe left, the other classmates gradually departed too. Even after the cleaning staff left, Arashi still didn't go home, though by now no one paid any attention to why he hadn't left.
