The three police officers rushed down to the basement, following the trail of blood. They arrived just in time to see Woojin pressing the knife close to Owen's neck.
"Freeze!" one of the officers shouted, guns raised.
Woojin slowly turned his head. He smiled.
He loosened his grip, let the knife fall to the floor, and raised both hands without resistance. One officer quickly moved in and handcuffed him, while the other two rushed to Owen.
Owen was coughing violently, blood coming out from his mouth as he struggled to breathe. They lifted him carefully and carried him upstairs.
Sirens wailed outside.
An ambulance had arrived.
Owen lost consciousness from blood loss as he was loaded inside. Jungtae was placed into another ambulance with his mother, her hands shaking as she held him close. Woojin, still calm and smiling, was escorted into a police car.
Both Jungtae and Owen were rushed to the hospital.
