Chapter 4 - Ball

Elena was on her knees next to Jake on the couch, her hands scratching his fluffy wolf ears. Jake's eyes were closed as his tail thumped against the cushions. He had a slight smile while Elena's eyes were wide, and her hands alternated between petting and scratching his ears.

"They are sooo fluffy!" She cooed as she scratched behind one of his ears, making him groan.

Elena chuckled at her friend. She always found that when he was like this, he was sort of cute. A harsh man, with a harsh life, is letting someone pet his fluffy ears. She could clearly tell he was at peace right now.

She kept on scratching his ears until she found a particular spot that made him groan more, and his tail picked up intensity.

"R-right there, that spot, yup," he groaned, leaning his head into her touch. Her heart raced as she felt the warm, solid press of his body against her, and heat pooled.

Elena was lost in the moment. His soft ears under her fingers, the small details of his face. Neither of them realized how much he was leaning into her. Both of them focused on her clever fingers finally reaching a particularly difficult-to-reach itch.

"J-Jake!" She cried out as she lost the silent fight against his weight. She fell back, his hot body pinning her to the soft cushions. His hard head now pillowed in her soft breasts. Her face heated up as Jake scrambled to turn around before pausing to look down, looming over her.

His hands braced on either side of Elena's head; they locked eyes, frozen in the moment. Amber versus gold, they battled silently for a moment with their embarrassment and the unspoken heat of desire.

Her hands felt like they were detached, crossing the space between them to rest on his stubbly cheek. Jake didn't move away, seemingly holding his breath. A click echoed in the silent space, and both of them tore their eyes from each other to stare at the door.

Lily froze in the doorway, her wide eyes taking in the scene. Jake was half of him on top of Elena, looming over her on the couch.

His hands bracketed her head while her hand rested on his cheek.

Lily closed the door, unhurried. Her knowing chuckle muffled by its wood. Whatever she was coming to the room for was apparently unimportant.

Jake and Elena's faces were on fire. Blood rushed to their cheeks in a hot pink blush as they realized what Lily must have seen. And where her thoughts were right now.

Elena pushed him off of her, as Jake fell off the couch. Making a pained sound. Elena started to breathe heavily as Jake rolled onto his back, chuckling.

"W-whats so funny?" Elena said, flustered as she looked down on him.

Jake had an arm covering his forehead, hiding his eyes. He gave her a smirk, his cheeks still red.

"Well that was someting?" Jake chuckled. He rolled over and sat on the ground her still laying on te couch.

Elena curled herself up blushing at what her best friend might have thought and seen. Her heart raced, at just the idea of it.

"Elena, are you really that embarrassed?" Jake looked at her, his head tilted to the side.

Elea nodded; she could barely speak at that moment, and just wanted to hide away.

Jake's tail wagged, looking at her with his gaze, melting her. Why did he have to have such a beautiful yet intense gaze?

"It's almost time to go to the ball. I will get my Lamore disguise and change." Jake said, changing the topic, which she was grateful for as he stood up and went to the closet.

He messed around in her large closet, which was practically an entire room itself. As he dug around a curtain of clothes, he discovered the secret cabinet and retrieved a large box filled with men's clothing.

Elena strolls past him as he messes around with the box, but when he starts to unbutton his shirt, a red velvet shirt with trimmed buttons. She looked away, and her blush heated more. "Why was he not using the changing place? Does he know about it?" She thought to herself.

A feeling brewed in her stomach; it was a mixture of desire and more feelings she didn't quite understand yet. She peeked over at the couch to see him. She didn't know why, but as she saw his pants drop as soon as she peaked, she looked away, even more flustered now.

As Jake changed, he kept on stealing glances at Elena. He had changed before with her in the room, but now… now it felt awkward after the moment they shared, even though it was unintentional. He couldn't help but replay it in his mind.

That itch is finally gone, the feeling of her touch on him. How soft her breasts were when he landed on them, they… they were some of the softest yet most comfortable things he had felt, even though it was just for moments.

Then her eyes, the way that she looked at him, something in her was about to break free from that moment, and her touch against her stubble was the key entering the lock, yet it didn't turn.

As he took off his pants, he felt a gaze on him, and he shifted his eyes to the couch, but could only notice the movement of red hair. His heart sank a little, wondering if she was watching him change and how much she had seen.

He finished, changing from the velvet red button-up shirt to a dark blue one and a black velvet coat that didn't have as many hidden pockets as his big leather one. His pants matched his dark blue button-up shirt. Dress shoes, simple and black, replaced his leather boots, which he always found comfortable.

"Alright, uh… done," Jake said as he walked over to the couch and raised his arms out.

Elena looked at him with a slight blush on her face, and it grew slightly more now, seeing Jake properly dressed and everything. His black hair was still a mess, with his fluffy wolf's ears poking out from it. His black wolf's tail swished side to side slowly as he allowed her eyes to gaze over him.

"You look nice," Elena said, smiling.

"Why, thank you, my lady," he said as he bowed and smirked at her.

She giggled at his antics and shook her head, "Why are you just so… dramatic?" She asked.

He smiled, his tail swishing, his canines showing. "Because it makes you smile, my lady, and that's what I like, your smile," he said, bowing again and holding it.

She slightly blushed at his statement, and she giggled again, covering her mouth with her hand. "Oh my, such a polite and kind man you are," She said, hiding her smile behind her hand, but her eyes crinkled at the wide smile that hid beneath.

"I will let you get changed," Jake said as he sat down on the armchair, his tail on his lap.

Elena nodded as she got up, went to the closet, and went behind a curtain that Jake didn't know was there. "Is that new?" He thought to himself.

She changed and came out of the changing place. The dress suited her perfectly. She wore a sleeveless one-piece dress that wrapped around her body and flowed loosely past her knees, secured by a red sash. It was a mix of deep red and dark purple folded together in smooth layers. A modest mantle pinned with blue gems hugged around her shoulders, covering her open chest. She wore dark blue detachable sleeves that hugged her arms.

Jake froze at the sight of her, his tail wagging in excitement. He cleared his throat as she giggled at his wagging tail. "You — uh- look excellent, my lady," A slight blush crept up on him.

Elena covered her mouth as she saw Jake, flustered under her amber gaze. She walked to him and placed a hand on his cheek. As she rubbed his stubble, she spoke. "Thank you, Lamore, you look quite dashing yourself."

She used his disguise name. As her hand left his cheek, she saw a slight disappointment in his eyes, and she gave him a smirk that flashed it away.

"The ball is in…" He looked over at a clock, "In an hour," He nodded as his gaze returned to her.

She nodded, "My parents know that I am going out, but they think I am going to a small event, going on, some dinner party or something," Elena explained. She sounded tired, having to lie to her parents every time she went out with Jake.

Jake chuckled, "Carriage? Front gate like usual?" A smile playing on his lips, his eyes only looking at her, and she could sense his mischief in his eyes at the plan they had made up.

Elena nodded, agreeing to meet at the front gate, their usual spot for going out.

Jake stepped back, and the shadows twisted and turned as he sank into them. Soon, he was gone, yet she could feel eyes on her, watching from a distance. But these eyes she knew were his and were always a comfort, as she walked down the halls and stairs to meet a ready carriage.

It was almost night, the twilight settling in its place to hold the world in night. She nodded to the driver of the carriage and said, "Please take me to the Dalfor house. I am going to the event there."

The driver nodded as she entered the carriage. A shadow slipped in beside her as she closed the door, and the carriage started to move. A figure slowly rose from the shadows of the ground as the carriage rocked against the cobblestone road.

Jake manifested from the shadows and took his seat, Elena shaking her head at the prowess of his abilities. Shadow manipulation and teleportation, from the little that was known about it due to it being such a rare spell ability, were considered hard to master.

The user could only really use it when the shadows were large and dark enough, which meant they could only truly use it in places like forests or during the night, yet he was able to use it with still some light out.
