Chapter 40 - Secret Revealed

Zaya was confused, her eyes peering towards her mum's direction, she then discovered she'd revealed their identity.

Everyone in the tent had gone quiet and began staring at them.

"Nyx, what do we do?" Zaya asked, seeing the attention of the crowd in the tent had diverted towards them.

"I've got this"

Nyx replied, flawlessly lifting both Zaya and her mother, immediately sprinting from the tent.

"How did you become that fast?"

Zaya bawled, as Nyx slowly dropped both her and Naya on the rocky ground of the mountain top.

Zaya turned to Naya as she said, "mum this is Nyx, the second last living fox of the ancient fox clan."

"Welcome to our family Nyx, Naya spoke as she gave Nyx a slight hug."

Nyx was delighted, a tear strolled down her cheek as she remembered her mother who had died in the marine war.

"Thank you," Nyx responded, "it will be a great honour to be your daughter."

"So mum," Zaya muttered, "what about dad?"

"He's supposed to be here, where is he?"

Zaya questioned.

Naya then replied, "Your father was chosen to lead an urgent medical team and they've left the island already.

He'll be back in a few days." Naya explained. "That's a long time" Zaya said sadly as she kicked a stray stone off the mountain top.

Nyx and Zaya had stayed with their mother on the mountain top for hours as they continuously talked about their experience in the war and the missions they'll have to go on.

While they also got to know more about Nyx.

Zaya entered the white tent, Nyx scampering behind her. The tent was made specifically for top officials.

It was divided into two sections, in one of the sections was the mayor and the alpha commander of the veteran army along with Carla Byrnes, they were on an audiocall with the president, who was congratulating them for their triumph in the war, also promising to rebuild all that have been lost.

Shocked looks could be seen in each of their faces as the president abruptly requested that the two foxes be apprehended.

"You do not understand, Mr President, they helped to end the war," Chinami defended.

The president then answered, "without them there won't be a war."

"We will be watching those two, but on sight of any flaw, i won't hesitate to bring them in"

"I understand Mr President," Chinami responded,

"Welcome to the world of politics Chinami," the president commented chuckling,

"I'll do my best sir," Chinami replied.

The call was over, my ride's here, the mayor spoke as he and some other executive officials walked out of the white tent, onboarding an helicopter.

"Looks like we'll have to stay hidden for a while, commander, Zaya spoke as she stared at the helicopter flying away."

"That's true Chinami said, sighing.

"We'll have to focus on getting those gems first" added Carla, her eyes fixed on Nyx and Zaya.

"No worries Zaya, we'll sort this out," Chinami motivated.

Zaya nodded.

Nyx abruptly peered at Zaya, What's wrong Nyx?

Zaya questioned, Someone is intruding your mind, replied Nyx.

Zaya then heard a voice in her mind, "you've forgotten about us so soon right?"

It was Pauline's voice.

"How did you get inside my mind?" Zaya asked, slightly terrified.

"Just come to our tent would you?"

Zaya and Nyx scampered to the tent which had been reserved for them by Pauline, The two foxes entered the tent

Everyone in the tent stopped what they were doing seeing the two had entered.

Hey guys, yelled Zaya to her friends happily, they didn't respond, completely distracted as they were all staring at Nyx.

Is she going to join us? Zoey spoke ignoring Zaya.

Zaya was about to respond to Zoey's question, when June interrupted, "it will be really nice if you do."

"I will consider it," said Nyx as she slowly walked towards a secluded part of the tent, laid down and went to sleep.

"Maybe I should also sleep too," Zaya thought to herself. Seeing the others ignoring her.

Before she could make a decision, she was lifted up from where she stood by Pauline's telekinetic ability, and kept in the middle of the tent, each of them surrounding her.

"What's going on?" Zaya asked, confused.

"You've been hiding too many things from us Zaya, that's what's going on," Ashara said.

"Really?"

You commanded a whole army of half breed snakes as their ruler and sole emperor, Natasha spoke.

"Didn't you think that was worth telling us?"

"Oh I'm sorry guys, " Zaya said chuckling, "I wanted it to be a surprise."

Well no more surprises, June replied pouting.

"Says the queen of surprises herself," Ashara commented, facing June,

"who knew you could change to your jaguar form so effortlessly."

But most importantly and terrifyingly Zaya said, pointing at Pauline, "we all know she's the most guilty of each of us."

"Well it looks like we've got a lot to say to each other."

"So what are we waiting for?" spill it out!

Zoey exclaimed, overexcited.

Hours later, midnight had come, in the midst of the woods, in the dark night a figure could be seen walking amongst the shadows of tall trees.

The dimly lit moon shone over her face, she continued walking, the figure was none other than Zaya.

She was headed to one of the lone tents where the injured were kept.

She approached a particular tent, standing at the front of it as she spoke, this is Zaya the purple fox, "Can I come in?

"No," a male voice from inside the tent replied, coldly.

Zaya then entered, the figure who owned the voice turned on the lamp by his side, illuminating the whole tent.

It was Korin, the champion of the tournament of thousands and slayer of dragons. Zaya had come a long way to visit Korin; she'd been worried about his well-being after he had fought three dragons all at the same time and won, Ever since then she began admiring the young warrior.

"I, the belittled Zaya, have come to seek your wisdom. Zaya spoke teasingly.

"That isn't how I speak," Korin said, his demeanor becoming calm.

"Can I come in?" Zaya asked even though she had already sat a few feet from where Korin was. You've already entered, Korin replied, a rare smile strapped across his face, which immediately vanished.

"How is your health?"

I heard you were taken away for treatment, so I decided to check on you, Zaya explained.

"What else, Zaya?" Korin asked, turning cold as he sensed a lie.

Zaya then revealed the other reason, "Tell me what I need to know about Edeth,"

Korin laughed, Zaya was bewildered, "Are you alright Korin?" Zaya asked, shocked as Korin's demeanor was ever cold.

Korin then spoke, "I have thought a lot concerning this matter, chaos indeed knocks Zaya."

Zaya adjusted herself as she listened attentively to what Korin was saying

"Edeth lived in the infinite realms for centuries, she didn't age, also becoming a powerful being that could travel from realm to realm.

Our realm had been the last place Edeth resided before she returned to earth through the sacred path.

"I think Edeth had somewhat planned for us to meet, she had wished to die, but to also return."

"I do not understand," Zaya replied. Eager for more.

"Don't you see it Zaya, let me keep it plain, Korin said, taking a deep breath, you are Edeth's reincarnate!"

Those words struck Zaya like lightning, she shook her head in disbelief, this couldn't be happening.

Her mind then fell into thoughts, she remembered the dreams she had were always about Edeth.

When she also fought Korin in the mansion, she was covered by white instead of purple energy and lastly the Emerald that Edeth's mother gave her long ago, was the same as hers but only a different colour.

"Why do you think you haven't got your memories back Zaya?"

Asked Korin.

"Why haven't I?"

Replied Zaya anxious. Korin then blurted because it's trapped in the diamond stone.

"This is your true purpose Zaya, find the Diamond stone and we'll all be safe again." "Do not forget this Zaya," Korin said sadly, "I won't always be here to help, do not forget this."
