Chapter 8 - Chapter 8_ The unexpected conversation

That night, boredom crept in, and I found myself scrolling through my WhatsApp messages. My thumb moved lazily over the screen until I noticed something , Celeste. She had been texting me, but I hadn't replied. Not because I was ignoring her, but because I truly hadn't seen her messages. Feeling a bit guilty, I quickly typed, "Hey, so sorry, I didn't see your message." She replied almost immediately, like she had been waiting. "It's okay," she said. "I was just trying to be friends, but I guess you didn't want that. I even posted you on my status yesterday, but you didn't reply." My heart dropped a little. She sounded hurt. I told her again that I didn't see it and apologized sincerely. "You can spam me now to make up for it," I said, trying to lighten the mood. She laughed and started sending message after message emojis, compliments, random words until I couldn't stop smiling. I told her she was beautiful, and she sent a shy "thank you ." Then she said, "You're very beautiful too. I love your lips."

That one made me blush. I replied, "Thank you ," and we drifted into an easy, random conversation jokes, laughter, short voice notes, all flowing effortlessly. It felt nice.

Then she said softly, "You should come to my place sometime."...I hesitated. I didn't want to seem rude, but I wasn't sure I was ready for that. So I told her I was busy lately. She said "no problem," and the chat ended there quietly, but not awkwardly.

When I went back to view my status, I noticed Jovi had replied to one of my posts.

"Who's she?" she asked.

I replied, "She's my online friend."

Jovi sent back a simple "hmm."

I frowned and typed, "What happened?"

She said, "Nothing."

I could tell something was off. So I sent a "hmmm" too and changed the topic. "Will you be home tomorrow?"

"Yes," she replied, "why?"

"I want to come over," I said.

She didn't say much just sent a single moon emoji her signature.

I smiled, but somewhere inside me, I wondered… was that moon her way of saying she missed me, or just a quiet reminder that things between us were slowly changing?
