It was late at night. I had just finished watching some movies on my phone when I turned on my data and came online on WhatsApp. Almost immediately, I saw Ronny's message pop up.
Ronny: "Hey, how are you?"
Me: "I'm good. You?"
Ronny: "I'm fine. But why haven't you been talking to me? And I noticed Jovi barely replies lately sometimes she doesn't even reply at all."
I sighed before typing.
Me: "We just didn't want to come between you and Debra."
He replied almost instantly.
Ronny: "Come between me and Debra? We're not even together. She's always the one coming to meet me, and I can't just push her away. Please, help me talk to Jovi."
I screenshotted our chat and sent it to Jovi. She replied with, "Hmmmm, that's his business."
I just shook my head and smiled a little.
Then I texted Ronny again:
Me: "You should come to my pool party on Friday. Maybe you can talk to Jovi there she's really upset."
He said okay, thanked me, and asked when my birthday was. I told him Friday, then left his DMs.
Not long after, Celeste texted.
Celeste: "When are you coming to my house again?"
Me: "I don't know for now."
Celeste: "Okay. I really enjoyed your company last time."
Then she sent me a video of herself dancing. I smiled, saved it, and posted it on my WhatsApp status. Jovi replied to it with a funny sticker. I laughed and told her what happened.
Jovi: "You're getting closer to that girl."
Me: "No I'm not "
Jovi: "What's her name again?"
Me: "Celeste."
Jovi: "Hmm, Celeste is taking you away from me."
I laughed and told her not to think like that. Jovi was a good friend funny, playful, and bold in her own way. Celeste was cool too, but she felt… clingy. She liked being around me a lot. Still, deep down, I knew I liked Jovi more as a friend. She just didn't see it that way.
Later that night, Daphne replied to a meme I posted. We started talking casually, then she said,
Daphne: "I want to give you a boyfriend. Send your video."....I laughed and sent her one. A few minutes later, she sent me a video back.
Me: "Wow… he's dark-skinned and definitely my type." She laughed.
After a while, Daphne said, "He said you're beautiful." Then she sent him my number.
Moments later, a new chat appeared.
"Hi."
Me: "Hey."
"I'm Williams."
Me: "I'm Elaria."
Williams: "Elaria is a nice name."
Me: "Thank you."
He seemed shy quiet but polite. I asked Daphne about him, and she said, "Yeah, he's shy, but he really likes you."
After chatting for a while and getting to know each other a bit, Williams confessed:
Williams: "I think I have feelings for you. I liked you the moment Daphne sent me your video. But don't give me an answer yet. I want you to know me first." I smiled at my screen.
Me: "Okay. You can come to my pool party on Friday."
He said he would, and I could feel his excitement through the messages.
I went straight to tell Jovi:
Me: "Daphne found me a boyfriend o! And he's fine."
She screamed in excitement through text, and I laughed.
Then I went to the group chat and asked,
Me: "Are you guys going for the lesson tomorrow?"
Daphne: "Yes."
Jovi: "Yeah, I'll be there too."
Me: "Okay, I'll come. I only have one lecture anyway."
After a few more chats, Daphne said she was going to bed. I was already feeling sleepy too, but I was still texting Williams. Finally, I told him goodnight, then dropped a "goodnight" message in the group chat before closing my eyes and falling asleep smiling at how my night had turned out.
