Now, however, it suddenly detected an immense pulling force—so strong that it began dragging their entire fleet toward the portal, toward Earth itself! Faced with such an abnormal situation, they naturally didn't just sit back and watch. The engines roared to life as they desperately tried to break free.
How terrifying was the power of space battleships?
Even with Magneto exerting his full strength, it was still extremely difficult.
"Ha!" Old man Erik looked visibly exhausted. This kind of tug-of-war was indeed no easy task for someone of his age. Yet he refused to give up, letting out a roar as he forced himself to persevere.
Xu Dan's gaze swept over the space gate, then fell upon Magneto's face.

From being rescued by mutants, to the despair brought by wave after wave of alien invaders, then being rescued again, then witnessing the attack of a giant monster…
They had experienced far too much in a single day.
After this incident, they would probably find that the everyday frustrations of life could be laughed off. Compared to what they had lived through today, those trivial matters were hardly worth mentioning.
The crowd was terrified, and the superheroes each harbored their own thoughts.
Xu Dan, however, looked at the Chitauri flagship and curled his lips into an excited smile.
What did that thing represent to him?
A super battleship capable of destroying Earth?
No, no, no.
It represented genuine alien technology!
The Chitauri were like a cosmic pirate fleet. And a pirate's treasure was usually hidden beneath the captain's feet. The wealth the Chitauri had plundered over the years had to be stored within this flagship!
Even if there were no other treasures, this single space battleship alone possessed immense research value.
This was Xu Dan's true purpose in forcing the Chitauri down!
Otherwise, he would have simply ordered Antarctic Military Industries to carpet-bomb the area with overwhelming firepower.

"I… I am a sinner of all mankind…"
Seeing this, Xu Dan reached out and helped him up."I'm joking. You were being controlled by Loki—those sins belong to him. All we need to do now is close the portal, and it'll all be over."
"W–What… close the portal and it'll be over?" Selvig stared at the colossal battleship in horror. "What about that thing?"
"Leave it alone! Hurry—close the space gate with me!"
As he spoke, Xu Dan took the Mind Scepter and stabbed it toward the device that was channeling energy from the Tesseract.
Surrounding the device was a shell-like protective barrier that offered considerable resistance—but before Xu Dan's power, it was no sturdier than paper.

The moment the Mind Scepter touched the surface of the Tesseract, the entire device instantly shut down. As the Tesseract ceased outputting energy, the blue pillar of light rapidly dissipated.
With the disappearance of the blue energy column, the space gate in the sky also closed at breathtaking speed!
In just a few seconds, the sky returned to its normal appearance.
If not for the enormous space battleship suspended in midair, one might have thought it was all a dream.
