Bankim looked at the screen and indeed saw the tests listed for testing one's level of English.
But...
Bankim looked at his little sister and asked:" Are you sure you want to take the test?"
Beeti understood why her brother asked this. After all, Beeti didn't particularly hide the fact that she is a language genius. At almost five years of age, she is already proficient in Bengali, Hindi and can even have a English conversation with her brother. Sometimes, when her brother make a mistake in spoken English she will point it out, not that her brother felt offended, instead he was encouraged to work harder to not to be suppressed by his little sister. As he wants to be someone who is admired by his beloved little sister.
But even after all this, she has kept a low profile. Now taking the test for level testing will inadvertently reveal these in front of others. Which by now the whole family understood was not something she wanted.
Beeti gave a faint smile: "Da, rest assured. I won't be taking the test now. I was only looking at it. Don't worry I know why I'm doing. I'm still weak in written English so I plan to search for materials online."
After saying this much, she was reminded something, looking at her brother she said: "Why don't you also join me? You can take the test and see your level too. And you can get so much study materials online. It's like heaven for students."
Her seemingly casual words had Bankim thinking about whether he should join her or not. Even though he answered in negative, the thought of using the computer for searching study materials have taken root in his heart.
The computer at school was originally for the staff to use as well as students, but since no students can use it, nobody knew till now. But Beeti knew this and was using it to her advantage.
The days passed by, meanwhile the shop beside the primary school added two new additions, which was well received by the customers. The adults like the pancake, specially the teachers, as some teachers come in haste sometimes without having breakfast. And the pancake was an excellent option.
The pastry was without a doubt, was definitely a hit among children. The students specially. They like it very much.
With the new additions, though time consuming but the profit was a decent sum. Since even with the population of the village being three or so families, the shop still saw potential for future business. Which was a relief.
These days, Beeti too was busy, while the shop was on track. She herself was busy with frequently visiting the library, noting down some of the easy and tasty foreign delicacies and keeping them for future use.
She herself was searching for study materials alongside her brother. While she was at it she was also going about her other work online. And she was bustling with activity all weekdays and barely managed to finished her work in time to free up her time for weekends.
After her second year being reborn, Beeti met with a old man who was having asthma attack, and she helped him to take the inhaler.
The old man was impressed with her, as it is rare for children her age from a small place to even know what was happening, instead of being scared she instead knew to come to help. And further, she knew how to help. When asked, that time her reply was:
"You were having asthma attack, and it made sense that you have inhaler with you. I just helped you take the inhaler. That was it."
The old man was stunned at that time by her seemingly matter-of-fact reply.
It later dawn on Beeti that, it was not like later years, were having a inhaler was common. During 2000s, it was not common to have inhaler with just anyone.
After that day, they met once more during Durga Puja Celebration, were the old man was accompanied by a middle aged man. The middle aged man was dressed quite nicely.
The old man then started to introduce the middle aged man with Beeti and her family.
"Thank you for helping uncle that day."
Akshay ji said with gratitude
"It's really okay. Our daughter just did what anybody would have done." replied Mr. Das.
Later they learned that Akshay ji is the old man's nephew.
They decided to wander around together as the duo were obviously not locals, clearly from mainland.
Later, they met again when the duo were on tour, they met at their shop. During the conversation then, Akshay ji seemingly causally said somethings and upon hearing Beeti's reply, he revealed that he was a doctor and would like to take Beeti as his disciple.
"We really are thankful for the offer, but our daughter, she is too young for these things. We don't think..."
Mrs. Das was stunned, after coming back to her senses, she cautiously started to say but was suddenly interrupted mid speech.
"Proof."
Everyone turned to look towards the baby.
"I want to see proof if you are a genuine doctor." The baby repeated, as if it was only natural to ask for verification document.
"Trisha..." Mrs. Das hesitatingly said.
"It's okay, sister-in-law."
"It's only natural to show identification proof. It was a mistake in our part."
"Here you go young lady. This is my ID card." Akshay ji then took out his ID card to show everyone.
The old man, Mr. Sharma, was watching all these with a smile. He had felt on their first meeting that the little girl was not simple. She was somehow special. And had wanted the brat to take a look. But that brat had refused to met the little girl, so he had no way but to drop that matter, but he still felt unhappy. Unexpectedly, they met again during Puja and that brat finnally showed interest in the little girl.
Today's meeting was not a coincidence, they planned today's meeting, to see if the little girl is suitable, now that the brat has revealed his doctor identity that means he is taking her in.
'They finally had a successor.'
'Those people over there could be finally at ease.'
'They would surely clamor to meet the little girl but it was not the time yet...' looking at Beeti, old man Sharma was thinking. Beeti was unaware that she had inadvertently became someone's target.
From that day on, Beeti is taking medicinal classes from her Guruji ( master) every weekends.
Today is Saturday, and after bidding farewell to her family, Beeti set off for her Guruji's house.
While on the way Beeti was wondering, how she was shocked to be accepted as a disciple by a doctor, and a Traditional Ayurvedic doctor at that. It really is hard to see one proper ayurvedic doctor here. Everybody knows the common herbs for small cold or cough or fever, any lesser illness. To see a proper doctor, it's only the western medicine practitioners, very few ayurvedic doctors are there in government hospital.
Whatever.
But Beeti was happy to know that her Guruji is not only a traditional ayurvedic doctor but also knows western medicine.
Beeti was having those dreams related to ayurvedic herbs ever since three years of age, and now with a ayurvedic doctor as her Guruji, she can finally fully utilise her knowledge to her aids now.
After reaching the house, Beeti took out the spare keys and opened the main door to the courtyard.
After entering, she saw her Guruji was sorting out new herbs.
Today they were going to start new lesson.
Till yesterday, she was given time to remember every medicinal herbs and plants there is possible to remember.
Thanks to her almost photographic memory, which did not decrease with her increasing age, she is now able to identify almost two thousand plants that are in official pharmacopoeia.
"What is it?"
Without turning back, Akshay ji asked while pointing at one herb.
"It's Gotu Kola ( Mandukparni) known in Ayurveda for its benefits in memory improvement, brain health, and hair care." Beeti answered calmly. Already used to being suddenly tested.
"And this one?"
"It's Licorice Root ( Glycyrrhiza glabra) a central herb in Ayurveda, used for its anti-inflammatory, antiviral, and antibacterial properties."
"This?"
"Punarnava ( Spreading Hogweed) used for anemia, liver diseases, and kidney health."
"And..."
"Holy Basil (Tulsi) a sacred herb in India known for its immense antibacterial and antiviral properties. It is rich in compounds like eugenol, which help prevent cell damage."
.
.
.
.
"This is Indian Madder (Manjistha) a blood- purifying herb with anti-inflammatory properties, manjistha is used to treat skin conditions like acne."
"Good! good! good!"
Akshay ji said good three times with satisfaction in his eyes.
The more he looks at his disciple, the more he felt grateful to his uncle. His meeting with Beeti really was thanks to Sharma uncle. His little disciple is really a genius.
There really is someone to carry on the...
Coming back to his senses, Akshay ji then said to his disciple, who was standing quietly in front of him:
"Today, we are going to learn about the nerves of human body."
They were now standing in the courtyard in horse stance.
According to Akshay ji, a doctor in themselves should be healthy first. And to perform diagnosis and later marma therapy one needs to have strength and enough control over the amount of strength they apply.
So
To increase the inner strength, learning of martial arts is important.
The two had decided to practice kungfu first. And after few years Guruji will start teaching Kalaripayattu.
"In Ayurvedic medicine, the nervous system is primarily associated with the Majja Dhatu (marrow and nerve tissue) and is governed by the Vata dosha. Neurological health is viewed as depended on the balance of the three doshas (Vata, Pitta, and Kapha), with Vata being the primary force for movement and communication throughout the body..."
