Chapter 3 - Exchanges and Waiting

With the terrifying, oppressive demoness gone, Rin Tabane and the others felt a little more relaxed.

"That woman is so scary..." Rin Tabane patted her chest, her heart still pounding. She was just a student and had never seen a scene like that before.

"Sigh... I don't know why we ended up in a place like this, having to face the risk of dying at any moment during missions," Hu Yan said with a mournful look on her face.

Huang Ming's fear had gradually subsided with the passing of time. Facing an unchangeable reality, he didn't complain about fate, but instead showed a look of relief. "I should say I'm very lucky. After all, if I hadn't come to this place, I would have been hit by a car and died."

"Hmm? You too?" Hu Yan exclaimed in surprise.

"You were almost hit by a car too?"

"Not exactly..." Hu Yan wore a look of lingering fear. "I was looking for inspiration in an abandoned mental asylum and accidentally fell from the top of the building."

"Miss Hu, Mr. Huang," Rin Tabane chimed in. "My situation was similar. I was in a car that got into an accident."

At that moment, Lexon, who had been sitting to the side listening quietly, was taken aback. 'They were all teleported to the Main God Space after nearly dying in an accident? But I didn't experience any accident... I was still eating a meal right before I was brought here.'

"Huh? So does that mean we all came here after having an accident?" Rin Tabane was a little surprised.

As they spoke, the group turned their gazes to Lexon, who had remained silent and had not joined the conversation, as if asking about his situation.

"I was in a similar situation," Lexon lied casually.

However, this left a thought in Lexon's mind: he seemed to be a little different from these other Reincarnators.

"I knew it!" Rin Tabane clapped her small hands, a happy smile on her face. "So the Main God saved our lives!"

Then, the girl even gave a small bow to the large sphere of light, as if thanking it for saving her.

'Is she really this optimistic...?'

Lexon looked at the girl, feeling a bit speechless. 'A moment ago you were crying your eyes out, and now you're all smiles. Have you forgotten that the Main God is about to throw you into a mission?'

Rin Tabane and the others seemed to think that as newcomers, they should stick together, so they started chatting nonstop. A few times, they tried to draw Lexon into the conversation, but his repeatedly cold responses made them understand that he had no desire to get close to them.

So, they didn't try to invite a snub again.

Silently walking to the sphere of light, Lexon tried to touch it, but his hand passed right through.

The system did not give a prompt for a sign-in.

'It doesn't have a physical form? Just an illusory medium?'

Touching the sphere was not the way to communicate with the Main God. According to Youmei, as long as one was within the Main God Space, one only needed to hold the intention of communicating and silently recite "Main God."

Lexon had only tried touching the sphere to see if he could sign in.

'Since I can't sign in...'

"Main God."

With the intention of communicating, Lexon recited the name in his mind.

In an instant, an illusory interface filled with a dazzling array of items appeared before his eyes, covered with various categories.

[Bloodlines]

[Offensive Skills]

[Defensive Skills]

[Mental Skills]

[Medical Supplies]

[Weapons]

[Armor]

[Tools]

...

Clicking on a category revealed many more detailed sub-categories to choose from, and there was even a so-called "Popular Exchanges" section.

Reincarnators could also mentally ask the Main God to filter for items that met their requirements.

The top-left corner of the interface displayed the pathetic 500 Samsara Points that Lexon, a newcomer, possessed.

Lexon first clicked on "Popular Exchanges."

He had no other intention; he just wanted to look.

[Viscount Vampire Bloodline

Exchange requirements:

2000 Samsara Points

1 D-rank Plot Reward

Note: A low-grade bloodline with certain side effects]

[White Jiangshi Bloodline

Exchange requirements:

2500 Samsara Points

1 D-rank Plot Reward

Note: A low-grade bloodline with certain side effects]

[Single Tomoe Sharingan

Exchange requirements:

4000 Samsara Points

1 D-rank Plot Reward]

[Spatial Accessory (1m²)

(Accessory type can be chosen)

1000 Samsara Points (Upgradeable)]

...

He could click on each item for a detailed description, but Lexon was just looking out of curiosity. He didn't have the points to exchange for these things right now, so there was no need to look too closely.

'What should I get with these 500 points...'

Lexon pondered.

According to the recommended items for newcomers that Youmei had mentioned, a handgun was the best choice.

Because with something like a handgun, even a veteran who has been through several worlds could be crippled, if not killed, by a single shot to a vital area if they weren't careful. When facing dangers in mission worlds, it could also serve as an important countermeasure. It was the only way for a newcomer to overcome a stronger opponent in the early stages.

In worlds where firearms don't exist, it could have an unexpectedly powerful effect.

Moreover, the price of a handgun was within a newcomer's purchasing range. The gun itself, along with some ammunition, only cost 400 Samsara Points, leaving 100 points to buy some medical supplies.

However, if one were to buy a handgun, it would be best to pair it with the [Basic Handgun Use] skill. After all, modern people have no experience using handguns. But after buying the gun, a newcomer wouldn't have enough points left over to exchange for this skill, which cost 300 Samsara Points.

Therefore, if you exchanged for a handgun, you would have to practice diligently for the next two days. Otherwise, how could you expect someone who has never touched a gun to use it effectively right away? If you didn't want to be a terrible shot, you had to shut yourself in and study seriously.

Consumables like bullets could be generated for free inside one's private room, so there was no fear of running out, as long as you didn't think about bringing them out. Additionally, you could use the internet in your room to look up information and watch tutorials to learn.

Without much more thought, Lexon exchanged for an ordinary handgun.

A handgun and some bullets suddenly appeared out of thin air in front of Lexon, floating in mid-air, waiting for him to take them. The handgun was a model he had never seen before, probably a less common one, but the Main God had thoughtfully included a user manual.

Lexon took the handgun and bullets, weighing them in his hand. They had a satisfying heft.

In his two years of signing in in the real world, Lexon had fleeced a soldier, raising his fighting technique from basic to proficient. During that time, he had, of course, signed in for other skills from this soldier.

[Skilled Handgun Use].

This was one of the fruits of his labor.

Although the model of this handgun was unfamiliar, it was generally similar to common handguns. For Lexon, who possessed the [Skilled Handgun Use] skill, getting the hang of it was not difficult.

And why had he only brought this important skill up to 'Skilled'?

It was because, after a while, Lexon noticed that the soldier had started to look at him strangely. After all, Lexon went to "run into" him every day, and when he did, he had to touch him. It would be stranger if he wasn't regarded as a weirdo and avoided.

After that, Lexon spent his remaining 100 Samsara Points on some cheaper healing supplies.

Rin Tabane, Huang Ming, and Hu Yan had actually been keeping an eye on Lexon. Seeing items appear out of thin air in front of him, they were amazed. They stopped their idle chatter and hurriedly began to communicate with the Main God in their minds.

Holding his things, Lexon glanced at them without much concern and decided to find a room to rest.

Before leaving, Lexon checked on the fat man's condition and found that he was no longer bleeding. Although the bloodstains on the floor remained and the man was still unconscious, his steady breathing and rosy complexion proved that he was still alive and well.

'Not my problem.'

Lexon casually found a room. As he gripped the doorknob, a mechanical voice sounded in his mind.

[Please set the appearance of the room]

This was the voice of the Main God.

His own sign-in system didn't speak.

In front of Lexon, various room styles appeared, and he could also choose to customize. Lexon had tried asking about the room size; the maximum was about the size of two football fields. Any more space required spending his own Samsara Points and Plot Rewards.

He set up a Chinese-style family room and also created a large empty area, separated by a door, so he wouldn't have to change things around when he needed to do physical training or exercise.
