The days passed, and James could not help but sigh as his fears came true. The trait he had given to his race allowed them to gain nutrition from the sun, though at a very slow pace. However, instead of supplementing this with actual biological products like from plants or other creatures, they simply reduced their metabolism by reducing the amount of activities they conducted throughout the day.
It was infuriating to James as he watched the race he had spent so much time and effort creating and evolving, essentially become mobile plants who refused to utilise their mobility because it made them use more energy. They became slower than sloths, and just basked in the sun during day, while doing the same in the night.
James had soon realised that the radiation they were gaining energy from was not only limited to the sun, but from other sources as well, and as faint as they may be in comparison to that from the sun, they were still gaining energy during the nights. Together with their immobile lifestyle, they essentially only gained enough energy through a day to keep themselves alive and grow a little.
'Oh yeah? You want to live like trees in peace? Then I'm going to take your peace away!' James' soul form flickered with anger as he utilised one of his two remaining chances to intervene.
He gave his race a destructive mindset to all those not of the same race. And almost immediately, the creatures began actively destroying all other mobile beings, since the immobile plants could not affect them much. Within days, the entire race turned from trees to carnivores with an endless supply of energy to hunt their prey.
Four generations later, James utilises his talent once more, and he uses it on a particular individual who was able to survive near the poles of the planet rather stably. When he looked at this individual's traits, he noticed the warm-blooded trait, and instantly chose it.
'Now, my race no longer has to rely on the heat around them to keep the temperature of their body optimal for survival,' James nodded in satisfaction as his race was gradually turning into mammals from the lizard-like features after he gave them warm blood.
'Evolution should not be happening this fast though…' James frowned as he recalled in the history textbooks, how evolution usually took hundreds of thousands if not millions of years to occur.
Just as this thought appeared in his mind, a notification took up his vision.

It had been a long time on the planet, but only 50 years in the god-space where James' soul actually resided. Seeing that he still had almost 3 times longer than the time that had already passed, James sighed in relief, and even began thinking whether he should have just picked a world with a World God, and evolved his race on the planet there which already had life and stable living condition, as well as a thick enough atmosphere and gravity to support larger beings.
But he could only sigh as he had already made his decision and could not go back in time to chance it. As such, he simply waited. He had his last evolutionary interreference chance remaining, and he decided to save it for a rainy day, and instead waited for his talent to complete it cooldown phase so he could use it again.

Time continued to flow on Neues Reich, and with every generation, a few random mutations brought the creatures closer to becoming full-fledged mammals. During this period of time, James has collected quite the number of traits for his race, which could finally be classified as a mammal, and had gone a step further to look like taller chimpanzees that walked on their legs.
