Chapter 40 - Chapter 40 You Are Her Sovereign

On the beach of Paradise Island.

General Antiope and the Amazon warriors were silent, their faces showing shock, confusion, or anger.

Without needing many words of explanation, Princess Diana of the Amazon had already declared her stance when she placed her divine artifact, the starfire crown, on the head of a human male.

"His name is Vincent, Vincent Prince," Diana said softly, as if making an announcement.

"Uh, good afternoon, the weather is really nice today... Well, it's a pleasure to meet you all." To avoid an awkward silence, Vincent, wearing the magnificent crown, actively waved his hand and greeted the female warriors enthusiastically.

However, no one responded to him, and the scene became even more silent.

Vincent's waving hand stopped, his scalp tingled, feeling that this was truly awkwardness opening the door for awkwardness—

It was beyond awkward!

"Even so, without the Queen's command, he cannot enter Paradise Island's main island." Antiope's chest rose and fell erratically, her fists clenched, and she looked at Vincent with an incredibly cold gaze.

Vincent suddenly felt this gaze was somewhat familiar! Hmm, it was very similar to the way Officer George often looked at him!

"I know, I'm going to see Mother right now." Diana nodded and said, "Antiope, could you please arrange accommodation for Vincent in the island buildings next to the main island? He needs to stay here for a few days."

"No problem."

Despite her reluctance, Antiope gritted her teeth and finally agreed to Diana's request.

"Vincent." Diana turned back and said softly to Vincent, "You go with my aunt, Antiope, to the arranged accommodation first. I'll come to see you later after I've met Mother."

"Okay, you go ahead." Vincent agreed, thinking to himself that it was just like visiting a tourist island with not-so-great service, nothing to worry about.

"Follow me." Antiope gave him an expressionless glance, then flipped onto her black horse... Far from the palace and the Amazon residential area, on the cliffside of Paradise Island facing the open sea.

Here stood a huge and peculiar ancient circular building.

Antiope led Vincent to the main entrance of the ancient building.

Looking at the complete building, which resembled the ruins of an ancient temple, Vincent said with surprise and uncertainty, "This is where I'm staying? Actually, it doesn't need to be this good."

Antiope, riding her black horse ahead, paid no attention. She walked directly to the entrance of the ancient building and said to the female guards in silver armor guarding both sides of the door, "Arrange a spare guard room for him."

"Yes, General!" The two female guards at the door quickly acknowledged the order. They curiously looked at the first human youth to arrive here, and when they saw the familiar magnificent crown on his head, they immediately showed the same shocked expression as the female warriors before.

What, why are they looking at me like that again?

Vincent muttered to himself, completely unaware of the meaning of the magnificent crown on his head.

"Watch him closely, don't let him wander around." Antiope threw this command to the female guards, then left Vincent alone at the entrance of the ancient building and rode away on her black horse, not once making eye contact or speaking directly with Vincent during the entire process.

After Antiope departed swiftly, raising dust.

One of the female guards respectfully said to Vincent, "Your Highness, please follow me inside."

Your Highness?

Vincent was stunned for a moment. Looking at the female guard walking into the ancient building, he suddenly felt that the people here were still very polite.

Vincent followed the female guard through the entrance, and the further he went into the building, the more he felt something was off!

The inner walls of this ancient building were unimaginably thick, with no doors or windows, and the only main entrance was a cramped two-meter-high passageway.

Rather than a residence, it was more like a secret place for detaining prisoners or storing items.

"This is it." The female guard led Vincent not into the center of the building, but stopped along one side of the passageway. As she pushed a brick, a hidden door in the wall slowly opened, and countless loose dust fell profusely.

"Cough, cough."

The female guard and Vincent coughed for a while. After the dust settled, a faint blue wall lamp automatically lit up on the high wall of the inner room behind the secret door.

Looking inside along the light.

One could see a small, square room, less than twenty square meters. The room contained weapon racks and two very simple beds. Besides that, there was nothing else!

Vincent's mouth twitched slightly. A small dark room was one thing, but the weapon racks and beds were covered in thick dust, indicating no one had lived there for a long time.

"Your Highness, please wait, I will clean it for you." The female guard waved away the dust in the room and said apologetically, "This room was prepared for the guards on night watch here when this building was designed. But later, most of the guards stationed here were withdrawn, so it has been vacant and uncleaned."

"Guards? Guarding what?" Vincent was a bit confused. They wouldn't have given him a detention center to live in, would they? Or maybe they weren't treating him as a person at all, locking him up like a criminal.

"Just an item." The female guard said while tidying up, "That thing is in the deepest part of this building, but there's nothing good to see. I've guarded it for about ten years, and before me, our Amazons have guarded it for thousands of years."

"Is it okay for me to live in such an important place?" Vincent grew increasingly anxious. A place that needed to be guarded strictly for thousands of years—no one would believe there wasn't a problem inside!

"It's fine. As long as it doesn't leave here, it's okay. For thousands of years, it hasn't shown any abnormalities, so don't worry." The female guard shrugged and said, "Besides, you are the monarch of that one, and it is beneath your noble status to live here."

"Wait." Vincent raised an eyebrow, "Monarch, what do you mean?"

The female guard was also confused, pointing to the magnificent crown he was wearing, "Isn't that Princess Diana's?"

"It is, that's right." Vincent nodded.

"Then there's no mistake." The female guard confirmed, then said solemnly, "From the moment we Amazons are born, we are equipped with a crown. The royal family wears a regal crown, and warriors wear an armored crown. This is a symbol of our identity and honor throughout our lives."

"So this crown is now on my head..." Vincent's eyes widened, realizing the implication.

"It means she has dedicated her honor, identity, and all her most valuable possessions to you. You are her monarch. Sharing glory and disgrace, advancing and retreating on the same stance!"

At this point, the female guard sighed with emotion, her eyes peering through the gaps in her iron helmet at Vincent, "I don't know why that Your Highness would choose you, a human, as her other half. Of course, this is not for me to judge; I can only respect her choice."

Vincent fell silent.

He didn't feel surprised; instead, he felt the magnificent crown on his head was heavy, making it hard to breathe.

Aunt Diana, of course, couldn't have chosen him as her other half.

This was most likely just like before, when he deliberately called Aunt Diana his 'little girlfriend' to fend off advances. It was merely to give him a more legitimate identity to stay on Paradise Island.

However.

A woman as independent, intelligent, beautiful, and powerful as Aunt Diana, a perfect female, to have a proud and noble deity like her declare that she was placing everything she represented on him, as if she were an accessory.

Vincent even felt that the cost was not worth it for Aunt Diana!
