Chapter 1 - Regression

"Today's a joyous day isn't it?" A colossal figure asked with a broad smile written on his lips, his figure emerging from the darkness.

His massive frame silhouetted against the faint glow of torches flickering on the walls. The firelight danced across his imposing figure.

Casting eerie shadows on the stone floor, before him was a prison guard, the prison guard's lips curled into a faint smile, he nodded "Indeed, it's a day of celebration"

The colossal figure chuckled loudly "Of course it is...today, the Purpleman Race shall forever be extinct"

The only distinct features that these two men had were their dazzling crimson hair and bright crimson eyes.

In his right hand was a large iron axe, while in his left hand were chains wrapped together.

The prison guard nodded, he brought out the right key, and then the rusty metallic door clanged open.

A stench immediately filled the air. But the men didn't care, this was a daily routine for them.

"Ghost of Purple'" the colossal figure's hoarse voice resounded as he tossed down the chains, stepping into the cell.

Before him was a young man sitting on the ground, his purple hair covered with dirt, his body filled with bruises.

Gently lifting his head with an indifferent expression, he glanced at the colossal crimson-haired figure.

He knew his end had come.

"To think the mighty Caden will meet his end in such a pathetic manner," He muttered as he slowly rose up to his feet.

His name is Caden Ryder, ten years ago...this was a famous general of the Purple Continent.

Infamously known across the ten continents as Ghost of Purple, he was the worst nightmare to the Redmen.

A ruler of his own kingdom and a man who once stood against the invasive Redmen, but in the end...

The moment Emperor Zeraith Riverrun took control over his predecessor and ruled over the Redmen Empire.

Caden's death was already confirmed.

"Since I transmigrated into a noble's body like normal Webnovel MCs, I thought I would be living a mudane life of luxury," He had lost one eye already "I guess this is the common fate of all side characters, once our role is over. Our assess get sacrificed" He softly exhaled.

Caden originally never belonged to this world. He once lived in a world known as Earth.

Transmigrated into the young Caden and reigned in his stead, but in the end….

He never truly escaped the clutches of death.

"Everyone's waiting. Even Emperor Zeraith is waiting, we don't have time to waste," the colossal figure frowned.

He stepped into the cell, He firmly grabbed Caden, pushing him out of the cell. Caden was wrapped in chains.

Both his neck, arms, and legs were wrapped with chains. The two walked down an underground corridor where the only light came from small holes.

At that moment, the ground above their heads was vibrating.

A lopsided grin appeared on the colossal figure's lips. "Do you hear that, Ghost of Purple?" He asked, "The cries for excitement, the celebrations. The Purplemen were cursed because of an entity like you" He sneered.

"You are the reason why the Purpleman Race no longer exists" He chuckled "If you had chosen to bend to the knee to Emperor Zeraith, you would still be the ruler of your nation"

"But now…..look at you, you're nothing but a dead man," the colossal figure said with a smile.

"...." Caden followed silently, his expression remaining indifferent, as if already dead.

At the end of the corridor, the door swung open with a bang. The raw sunlight pierced their eyes, the colossal figure blocked the sunlight with his arm.

But Caden's eyes burned, his hands still chained behind his back. Instead of feeling pain, he felt joy instead.

This was the first time in ten years since he last saw the sunlight. He breathed out a turbid air as he was dragged onto the stage.

A platform placed right above the mass congregation gathered, with just a glance, Caden could tell everyone who came to witness his execution was all Redmen.

Their crimson hair flickering with the sunlight, they laughed heartily as they celebrated the extinction of the Purplemen Race.

The colossal figure kicked Caden's legs, forcing him to his knees, with his head facing the floor. He uttered not a single word.

He faced not a single entity.

Caden was accused of many war crimes, amongst the Purplemen generals who resisted the Redmen Empire.

He was the only survivor, and now with his death. The Purplemen Race will be extinct.

"Any last words?" the executioner questioned. Caden slowly closed his eyes "Be fast with it already, I'm tired of waiting"

He spoke without care, and he did not have any hint of fear in his voice. This surprised even the executioner.

The executioner softly exhaled, he smiled inwardly, "As expected of a worthy general," He muttered.

On the ground, Caden's heart was calm as ice, he accepted his fate. Not even thinking of resisting or cursing.

Hopelessness and abandonment made him think of only one thing….

Death.

Just as the executioner raised his axe into the air, Caden's heart skipped a beat.

It was at that moment he heard a voice…

'Ding'

[Accumulating revengeful souls of fallen Purplemen]

[Bloodline Conditions have been met]

[Confirming Host.....]

[You've awakened the Primordial System]

At that moment, the axe descended at lightning speed.

But pain never came, he could only hear the sound of his blood gushing out.

'Is this it? The end?' He wondered, his consciousness drifted into the void.

There was nothing...how long has it been? A day? A month? A year? A decade? A century? A millennium?

Caden had no idea; memories replayed in his mind. He still had the memories of his past life on Earth.

Back then, he was Kyle Freeman, an engineering major, and in this life, he was Caden Ryder, a Purpleman general.

If he could cry, he would be shedding tears by now.

Countless memories overwhelmed him, he was in a state of regret. In this life, there were many things he could have avoided.

If he had known, he could have saved the Purpleman Race.

If he were given another chance again. If he were allowed to regress, he would surely not make the same mistake again.

….

'Ding!'

[Regression Alert!]

Inside a spacious room, a young man could be seen sleeping on the bed. His eyebrows furrowed as if he were experiencing a nightmare.

He clenched his fist, suddenly his eyes sprang open, and he abruptly sat upright.

Looking around, he was confused and disoriented.

He clutched his head, countless thoughts flooded his mind "Wasn't my head cut off just now? How are my still alive?" That was the first question that came out of his mouth.

Overwhelmed with complex emotions, his eyes scanned through the room once again "This my bedroom, this is Morningstar" He jolted up from the bed, his eyes wide open, engulfed in fear "Am I truly back to the past?"
